Neoteny:I want to point some things to you. Will their annual household income forever remain on 40k? Are there no opportunity to change to better paying jobs or get promoted to higher-paying roles within the same company? and Lets go by this your calculation, even if all they have left to save as a family is £200 for fixing something back home, is it not something for being on minimum wage jobs? But my major argument with u is this, will they be on minimum wage forever? Do they have jobs in Nigeria that will have them save 500k every month for investment or building project? When they were in Nigeria, did they have budget for gifts, entertainment. If NO, why is it now suddenly important because they are in UK. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Donaldoni:As I said, you are a boy. Wait till you birth your first kid with a woman you love. You would remember this comment and smile seeing how childish you reasoned. I'm not saying no one can excel in 9ja, but then atleast Tiwa savage left. Even I may still come and settle in 9ja everyone with their different strategy, but I assure u, uld think differently when you grow older. 1 Like 1 Share |

All these clouth chasers, at least, you will get the light you paid for, you will get value on every dime to u paid as tax, better than living in edo state and paying tax, for the tax too be fed to one fat thief in zamfara state, in the name federal sharing of revenue. All these annoying hediots, just because you first person travel, you think it's your job to codedly discourage others from coming being the saddist enemy of progress that you are. Imagine if junior Pope was rescued in the UK, shey dem for dey do ritual for water side or he will be taken to the hospital in an ambulance that is even well equipped more than some Nigeria's federal hospitals. obaidan: Year over year wages grew in real terms by only about 3%. The NBS says wage growth is slowing, not even stagnating. Bear in mind the UK economy has been shrinking since Brexit (hence the recent immigration laws) and the outlook is quite bleak. GDP growth is near zero for the past 2 years. The Pound is not a well-performing currency and the BRICS shenanigans will make it worse. So your point does not account for the cost of living in the UK; you're just comparing purchasing power between the pound and the naira which is faulty reasoning: you're not using UK currency to live in Nigeria, you're using it to live in the UK. You can't save £200 from a monthly non-net £618 when you factor all the other costs of living outside the amount i calculated. Stop comparing Nigeria to UK and consider the UK alone and the average wages vs cost of living. 3 Likes 1 Share |

ThiefnubuBandit:Posts like this one are meant precisely for ignoramuses like you, who assume everything costs the same in the UK as it does in Nigeria. Do you know what the average renting price for even a 1-bedroom currently is in London? More than £2,100 per month in central London, and "only" £1,750-£2,150 per month if you're willing to spend 2-hours commuting by train every day (and spending £15 on train tickets each time). Don't believe me? See for yourself! https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-strategies/housing-and-land/improving-private-rented-sector/london-rents-map Of course, after this you still have to pay council tax (£200/month), gas and electricity (£100/month), buy food (at least £200/month even if you never dine out), buy clothes, etc. £20,000 a year is starvation wages in the UK! So many of you delude yourselves into thinking Britain's streets are paved with gold based on your simple-minded exchange rate calculations, only to find yourselves living a beggar's existence once you get there, not to talk of the long, cold dark winters and the near-total isolation you are bound to experience given the huge cultural differences. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

StOla: It's not cast in stone like that for everybody. Some will go and make it in 6months while some may take up to the 3rd generation like you said. My problems with Nigerians is when they start comparing apple and melon together. It's two different world. If you chose the UK, just stick to your UK and if chose Nigeria, just stick to Nigeria. Both has its advantages and disadvantages to every individual. What is advantage to someone in the UK, may be advantage to another in Nigeria. There's no basis for comparison at all. I've lived in the UK for several years and can't say I have everything I wanted completely in either UK or Nigeria. It has always been a mixed bag for me. When I want something I can only get on the UK, I go to the UK, and when I want something I can only get in Nigeria, I go to Nigeria. The world is simple.....no single country has all their shits together. That's why I rather see myself as a citizen of the world instead of fixating myself to one or two limited environment. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

What's the useless basis of comparison? For example someone earning #350,000 per month in Lagos will hardly be able to save if you have loan you are servicing. Same person came to UK and was earning say £52k PA and earning around £3,050 after tax. If the spouse is working, will live a very comfortable life with high quality of life. It's better you leave Nigeria when you are younger if you desire to leave. My advise: if you are a professional, please leave Nigeria and find a better future for yourself and family. Not everyone here is doing odds jobs like some people say. Even those doing so called odd jobs are making it big. To me no job is odd as long as it pays your bill. Those giving the rubbish comparison have their own children abroad. Kemistri3: 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Yearly Salary & Monthly Income After Tax Deductions In UK by LORETA: 12:46am On May 05 |
Let me drop the fact...even as at last month. When you earn 2600 per month. Your take home is 1800. A one room self contain all Bill's inclusive is max 600 pounds only you. With ur partner it 700 max. All Bill's inclusive means you wont pay water bill, light and internet. Nigeria food is approximately 200 pounds per month... Transportation is 4 pounds per day that 20 pounds per week ...then 80 pounds per month...because u will likely per for per week or 54 pounds per month for bus ticket. Water is like 30 pounds in a month Mobile credit..say 30 pounds in a month.. The beer or tithes say 150 pounds All these will fall to 1000/1100 pounds per month . You will still have 500 pounds to change at 1700 naira to send home... Check am....including peace of mind No bad dreams...no police shooting...no abuja one chance....no enemy of progress and jealousy people around you. Which is better 1 Like 1 Share |
