MoneyMan5: God bless you for this comment. The ignorance is tiring. Just imagine someone saying confidently that all these countries are not spending as much as Nigeria! South Africa is not on the list and they are spending way more than Nigeria. |

These people are talking of gigawatts. We donβt want to convert it to Megawatts and see the difference with Nigeria. We have such a long way to go. The listed countries are talking industries and population. We lack industries and not doing a great job using our Human Resources. Such an unfortunate country 1 Like |

God1000: ESKOM of Southafrica in 1990 was only behind South Korea in terms of electricity generation, now I don't think they're among the top 100. You begin to wonder if the blackman is capable of governing or leading himself. 1 Like |

God1000:That's to say we generate or consume less than 2GW of electricity in a year. 4500MW=4.5GW 4.5GW x 365 days= 1642.5GW in a year. You can only take average in this situation because sometimes, it's hovering between 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500 to 4000, 4000-4500. It could get to the peak of 7000, but we can't even evacuate that. If you do it thoroughly, you'd see that we're even consuming less than 1GW in a year considering the fact that it's not everything generated that's consumed; some are lost on the way due to obsolete transmission and distribution facilities. No country developed without electricity, our case will not be different. If we want to develop, we must fix power...that's the only way to economic prosperity. 2 Likes 1 Share |

grandstar: You think i didn't know that ? so quick to jump into conclusion ? I was criticizing both the federal government and Nigerians in my post, if you read it and comprehend. Nigerians need to pay more and Federal government need to invest more that's what i said in my comment, no matter what Federal government investment is still too low and because Nigeria is too poor with low purchasing power, the government still need to help somehow until the economy situation improve and purchasing power increase but they won't help because they won't have sufficient money to waste on frivolity and loot. Nigeria need to pay more for power but because of the low purchasing power and poverty in Nigeria the power would be counterproductive if It is that expensive. |

Slimlord: Most Nigerians are dumb thinking Nigeria is a rich country. No, Nigeria is actually broke. New Yorks budget for 2024 is about $225 billion, Lagos state budget is $1.5billion. Yet, people want Lagos to compete with New York.......how can that be possible....goddammit. 1 Like |

SIRTee15: It is about 13,806 Gigawatts-hour of energy. Assuming we generate 3500 MW and a 100% efficiency in transmission (no cable or transmission losses ) . Assuming 365.25 days per year (leap year things every four years) . Energy = power Γ time. 365.25 days/year x 24 hours/day Γ 3500 Megawatts. = 30,681Gigawatts-hour approx. But in reality transmission efficiency is about 45% Energy yearly= 13,806 Gigawatts-hour (*edited)
