Lol! See the security grin

They have left there bandit ridden insecure states and ran to another man’s country to discuss it and someone dares to tell me I’m the “nuisance”. Time don reach to start exposing your identities on Nairaland so when the time of justice comes nobody will cry foul. Does this look to you now like people serious for their country. One reason they all jump on a wasteful flight is estacodes. What a useless generation. Instead of pointing out the madness as a form of legitimate resistance they acquiesce to the abuse.

Arrant nonsense.

Maybe after their discussion they will solicit for more arms and ammunitions from US government. Misplaced priority

These legacy party PDAPC politicians are a curse on Nigeria. Why people tolerate such abuse beats me. Only witchcraft is why. These are de.mons in power. No empathy. No mercy. No joy.

And the circus continues. I pity the hapless poor people of Nigeria. Harrowing times.

Today is Wednesday 24th April 2024

I come in peace and with receipts.

Bola Tinubu has auctioned off OPL 245 one of Nigeria’s largest offshore oil field [no other Nigerian president dared to touch] in a deal benefiting his own cousin not the Nigerian people.

Tinubu has asked for Nigeria’s gold reserves in US vaults [no other Nigerian president dared to touch] to be returned [Your guess is as good as mine].

Tinubu is borrowing billions of dollars left right and centre with nothing to show for what is borrowed in just 9 months of his sojourn in Aso Rock.

Note: “On your mandate we shall stand”!

You can create a political thread for these,
Don't derail the thread

There rumours that the United States are lobbying for an Air-force base in Nigeria and it seems some politicians and Nigerians are kicking against it.
The letter stated that the US and France are lobbying Nigeria and other Gulf of Guinea nations for defence agreements to station troops previously in Mali, Burkina Faso, and the Niger Republic. The northern leaders are worried that Nigeria might agree to this defence pact and jeopardise its defence and security.

A lot is happening with Nigerian neighbours and within West African geopolitical zones, Shift in power from the West to the far N.E Europe Russia

Doesn't sound true to me. I don't think Pentagon is really interested in a new base in Nigeria or any West African country at all. The benefits are not much and you can be told to GTFO anytime. Chad also wants to remove US troops for absolutely no reason. This military base thing is no longer attractive for several reasons.

Maybe the US wants to reposition troops deployed in the Sahel temporarily in Nigeria for onward transfer. Or are asking for permit to carry out surveillance flights.

The country US is really interested in having military partnerships with is Morocco.

The First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Hosts 2nd Lieutenant Princess Oluchukwu Owowoh, First Nigerian Female Graduand of the UK’s Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (RMAS).
Senator Tinubu, who received Owowoh, led by Major General John Ochai, the Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), to the State House on Monday described her achievement as outstanding and divine.

The First Lady commended the Nigeria Army for giving a female the chance to excel, she further encouraged the nation’s youth to emulate Owowoh’ resiliency and caution them to desist from being destructive, lousy and problematic. She recommended Owowoh for a national award and encouraged her superiors to encourage her to become a youth advocate for others to learn positively from her.

Earlier, the NDA Commandant Maj Gen John Ochai had said that Owowoh’s outstanding performance, marks history amidst countries like India, Pakistan, Qatar, UK, Canada, Australia and others, who brought their best to be trained in that institution where she succeeded

The US government establishing military bases abroad/overseas; enables her to project power and social political affluence e.g. to conduct expeditionary warfare and thereby influencing events abroad.
Depending on their size and infrastructure, they can be used as staging areas or for logistical, communications and intelligence support.
The US government loves intervening, dominating and influencing countries political will, forget about the benefits they love wasting tax payers money alot.

How did the troops get to the Sahel without Nigeria. Let them use that way out too.

Insecurity: Nigerian military takes delivery of new fighting platforms

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, on Wednesday, took delivery of 20 sets of improved versions of Armoured Personnel Carrier (APCs) to boost the ongoing fight against insecurity.

This is contained in a statement by the Acting Director Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Gusau said the delivery was done in a brief ceremony by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Kana, on behalf of the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru in Abuja.

He said the APCs were improved version with improved weapons and communication systems that could locate adversaries from distance and engage them effectively.

According to him, they also allow for seamless military operations, and the APCs were produced and supplied by an indigenous company based in Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary described the consideration for contracting local manufacturers to produce the new APCs as a welcomed development.

He added that it would save the nation a lot of money, create employment and reduce over reliance on foreign currency.

In his response, the CDS thanked the Minister of Defence and pledged to put the carriers to optimum and judicious use.

He added that the machines would definitely boost the ongoing operations to rid the country of insecurity.

That was in the 70s and 80s. Those approaches are pretty much obsolete today. At least not aggressively as you might be thinking. Besides Europe and the Indo-Pacific. I don't think there's any interest in building permanent military bases in Africa. Many of them have closed. Most of the so-called bases especially in Africa are actually the host nation barracks where few hundreds of US troops participate in training exercises with the host nation on a temporary agreement. There's nothing there that projects any kind of serious power.

The reason the US wants to keep a presence in Africa is mostly to
Collect Intelligence on terrorist groups and adversaries
Ready to assist US citizens and embassies in case of terrorism or civil unrest
Promote a good image and also justify their presence by sponsoring trainings, outreach programs and giving out intelligence to keep the host satisfied.

TROOPS RESCUE CUSTECH KIDNAPPED STUDENTS, OTHERS IN MULTIPLE OPERATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

In a series of successful Counter-terrorism operations across the country , troops have delivered substantial blows to terrorist groups, rescuing several kidnap victims and compelling a notorious militant to surrender.

In the North Central region, troops deployed for the search and rescue of the abducted students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology in Osara, Kogi State, in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes encountered the scouts deployed by the kidnappers in the vicinity of the Osara Forests and nearby areas, resulting to a fierce fire fight. The superior fire power of the troops led to the kidnappers abandoning 9 of the kidnapped students, who were subsequently rescued.

In a separate operation in North West of Zamfara State, troops demonstrated their rapid response capabilities, when they received a distress call concerning the abduction of two locals by violent extremists in Danzara Village, Kanoma District, within the Maru Local Government Area. The extremists, who had seized the victims in a red Golf car, were pursued by the troops. A confrontation ensued, forcing the kidnappers to flee and abandon the hostages without harm.

In a similar vein, the proactive efforts of the troops were on display in Katsina State, where troops responded to an abduction report in the Solar General Area of Batsari Local Government Area. Troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, compelling them to abandon 17 kidnap victims, who were later safely returned to the care of Batsari Local Government officials.

In the Northeastern State of Borno, a notable incident occurred when Alhaji Wosai, identified as a notorious member of the Boko Haram Terrorists operating within the Garno Village, in Dikwa Local Government Area, voluntarily surrendered to troops. Wosai handed over his AK-47 rifle and a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition.

These operations, highlight the relentless efforts of Nigeria Army troops in combating terrorism and underscore their commitment to the safety and security of all citizens. Troops' resolve in addressing the threat posed by terrorists and kidnappers remains unwavering, as they continue to work towards restoring peace and stability in the affected regions.

Man strapped with explosive found in a Nigerian Bank in Plateau

A middle aged  man is reportedly found in a Nigerian Bank in Dadin Kowa town in Jos South in Plateau state with belts packed with what appeared to be a Person Borne Improvised Explosive Device(SPBIED).

It was gathered that he was apprehended  on May 13, 2024, when the suspect was found with an apparent bomb strapped to his body to detonate at the Bank.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region that the vigilante Security at the bank prevented the  attack after they spotted the suspects.

They immediately apprehended him before he could achieve his aim. The suspect was later surrounded by an angry mob who demanded that he should be killed immediately.

It is, however, not clear if the suspect is linked with the Islamic State of the West African Province or Boko Haram. He was taken to the Police station where he was undergoing investigation.
