The four Nigeria Relay Teams Olympic Qualification Race - 2024 Paris Olympics - World Athletics Relays

Team Nigerian Men 4x100m, Women’s 4x100m, Men 4x400m and Mixed 4x400m teams are going to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

For the Women 4x100m relay, from Justina Eyakpobeyan to Favour Ofili to Olayinka Olajide and to Tima Godbless got the job done, winning their 4x100m heat in a Season's Best of 42.71s to punch an automatic ticket to Paris!!!

Fo the men 4x100m relay, Nigeria ran a time of 38.57s in the Bahamas. Udodi, Consider, Alaba and Karlighton made it happen with Consider splitting 9.12s.

For the Men 4x400m Relays Team Nigeria also Qualifies for Paris 2024 Olympics as they placed 2nd in Heat 2 to clinched one of the two automatic spot thanks to Chidi Okezie blistering anchor leg. Team #Nigeria finished in second automatic qualification spot with a season’s best 3:01.70 in Heat 2 behind Belgium (3:00.09).

And finally for the Mixed 4x400m Nigeria also qualified for the Olympics, punching an automatic ticket at the #WorldRelays, finishing 2nd in their heat with a time of 3:13.79. The quartet of: Samuel Ogazi, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Chidi Okezie and Esther Elo Joseph brought round the baton to ensure Nigeria is guaranteed a place at the Olympics, finishing 2nd behind Team USA who won in a Championship Record of 3:11.52.

I can bet that it may not be the same quartet that ran in all the qualification races that would ultimately represent Nigeria at the Olympics.

Each relay team at the Olympics has six members to run through the heats to the final in sets of 4 per race. Nigeria should be able to raise 8 female quarter millers (400 M runners) at any time, even if it is to give the needed high-level international exposure to the less ranked or amateur athletes. We should have had a female 4X400M team in Bahamas. The injury and visa excuse is, at best, an excuse.
