I don't really know how imf works, but what I feel is that if Nigeria can provide power for over 90% of their consumers and charge NGN68. 00per kwh, they would have made enough money to build turbands windmills solar to generate power instead of using only gas. How does countries we look up to generate electricity for their citizen without it be a burden or been regarded has rich and poor users. I believe everyone needs electricity. 3 Likes |

The IMF is correct. If Nigeria wants private funding in the electricity sector, subsidies have to go. No private investor will invest in when prices are fixed. Subsidies do more harm than good. Privatise everything! Let the free market thrive. 2 Likes |
