Armaggedon:If ijaws catch you, they'd slap your head. Amayanabo is ijaw originated. ibo language dominated eastern region due to their large population and migration, it was the common language used for trade and communication during slave era, just as hausa language in the north. 1 Like 1 Share |

Putindbutt:That was how I went with a couple of friends (4 of us) to the abattoir to share a cow. One Yoruba guy mistakenly called an Ika man "Ibo". Omo, the Ika guy almost punched the Yoruba guy ooo saying their origin is Bini. He said Ibo migrated into their region and started influencing others, and later started thinking they can grab their land. lol. These guys hate to be associated with ibos. Putindbutt:Do you know most deep rivers in the East flows from the ocean and seas? We even have Oguta and Egbema too There are some deep water areas in the North even Lake Chad Badagry in the South West has access to the ocean Ijaws shouldn't think they're the only ones surrounded by deep waters 2 Likes |

Goodvibes007:Ika traced their lineage to benin. A popular sport journalist who worked in Channels tv told me they are ika and never ibo. When ibos are making these claims, many of these minority tribes just laugh at them. |

Putindbutt: Everybody in Bonny migrated from elsewhere but Igbos are majority. The reason it is considered as Ijawland is because the earliest settlers were Ijaw while Igbos populated it in bulk later either as traders, slaves, mercenaries or acculturated slaves. In answer to the bolded Igbos were always the better traders whether with Europeans or with fellow Africans and yes fishing is a predominant occupation among various Igbo groups especially the ones living near large water bodies. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

pazienza: Most history in Africa were undocumented so the Europeans documented what they met at that point in time of which Igbo was already there however when you look at the migratory pattern and proximity to both Ijawland and Igboland it is more likely that Bonny was first settled by Ijaws before Igbos. 2 Likes 3 Shares |

The only language spoken in Opobo and bonny is igbo. The culture is igbo. Food is igbo. What else do you need to know that these people are igbos. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

OfoIgbo:Read very well the first sentence on the screenshot. Captain Adams himself admitted that his opinion of the natives of Bonny was probable (not certain or definate). the native language of Bonny is ibani but people speak ibos predominantly because of trade. you can easily mistaken the natives as ibos. One can pardon the foreign man for mistaken identity. |
