i posted this pic a while ago of kenyan troops in drc check the footwear. im very sure these soldiers have standard issue boots, im guessing they do this in non combat situation in fixed positions like camps because of the muddy Congo environment, regular boots would sink and absorb water causing foot hygiene problems in the pic you can see a soldier with a regular boot, the difference in protection is clear Shaytun:

Baller254: Moot point, the picture you posted showed troops on the field not camps, those wellies are actually a bigger hazard to the troops than regular boots. let’s not even talk about the risk of developing trench foot or immersion foot, you don’t want to be caught in an ambush with those big unwieldy thing strap to your legs, they decrease your combat effectiveness substantially. A good combat boots with goretex liner takes care of most of the problems you highlighted. The wellies could be worn in camps because soldiers wouldn’t want to wear out or dirty their regular boots, but there’s no excuse for wearing gumboots on the field. |

kabe1: The airforce is so luck to have added this dedicated platforms, how I wish the army will be this lucky interms of more modern equipment & quantity. I'll wish the airforce can add more JF-17. |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 12:38pm On May 18 |
bidexiii: I agree with you. Although I still think the Nigerian Air Force requires at least 1 squadron of a decent multirole fighter. Preferably the J-10C. I don't really see any much activity with the army. Apart from the weekly APC purchases and the MD Helicopters, there's really not much activity. I mean the army needs additional Tanks and Artillery pieces, but we don't see much movement. 5 Likes |

bidexiii: The M346FA and the JF-17 have similar capabilities. I wouldn't go for more JF-17s. I think we should look at the J-10C instead. We need Aircrafts with good stand off capabilities. |

bidexiii:Luck? Far from it. Both NAF and NN have made their short-medium-long term vision known since even the wind down of GEJ administration and they have stuck to it. We don't see same for the Army. |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by NTSA: 2:56pm On May 18 |
Odunayaw:Do the various services operate independently? ...In my opinion I think The Nigerian Military as a whole is doing just fine at the strategic level which is evidenced by the numerous hardware acquisitions. |

A little bit of fine tuning at the tactical level maybe is what is needed.Equipments are only as effective as the soldiers. 1 Like |
