jonescosmos: Is this better than Thermocool Gen Pal Inverter AC? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by PotatoSalad(m): 11:40am On May 18 |
mctfopt:No comparison. Instead of buying that thermocool, get a hisense inverter AC if you're on a budget. LG anyday anytime since Panasonic don turn big man AC. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jonescosmos(m): 11:41am On May 18 |
mctfopt: Thermocool Ac is a learner please. |

The inverter was on last night but the Felicity controller was already at sleep even b4 the rain started, immediately the thunder struck the whole light went off and my inverter was just making a continuous beeping sound the display on the body went blank only the fan was working I switched it off and waited for sometime then put it back on same beeping sound with only fan work and display blank I didn't even know it also affected my Felicity controller only till this morning wen the controller didn't wake up Sapiosexuality: |

osayuwamwen: So sorry bro. The strike probably happened to both AC and DC Circuits, That's why you should have both DC and AC SPDs tied to proper earthing, and Also ground your panels. 3 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by twinskenny(m): 12:34pm On May 18 |
osayuwamwen:Is there an Arrestor? Is it properly done? Did you ground the solar panels? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Sapiosexuality(m): 12:40pm On May 18 |
jonescosmos:Besides this, are there other things that may make it easy for lightening to kill an inverter especially when the house you stay in has earthing? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Sapiosexuality(m): 12:44pm On May 18 |
twinskenny:By arrestor, you mean Surge protector, right? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 1:26pm On May 18 |
icjunior: So I got a remote and put the AC on gen mode, and even though it doesn't chill like the normal mode,my 2500 inverter was able to power it well with my fridge,TV and other loads. Inverter usage % was fluctuating between 51%-63% |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by twinskenny(m): 1:35pm On May 18 |
Sapiosexuality: No I mean lightning Arrestor that’s usually on top of the roof |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Sapiosexuality(m): 1:48pm On May 18 |
twinskenny:Okay I see. Just saw one on our roof. Photo Attached. If I have this, I bet I'm fine, right? Or there's more? |

jonescosmos: In this same platform, some have said Thermocool inverter AC (Gen Pal series) is more energy efficient than LG inverter 2 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 1:51pm On May 18 |
PotatoSalad: Have you actually seen Thermocool inverter AC (Gen Pal) at work and compared it's energy efficiency against LG inverter series AC? In science, I love to see concrete evidence of some things before I conclude. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by litaninja(m): 1:58pm On May 18 |
From my own experience, the hisense inverter AC is fine for the first 2 - 3 years, after that, cooling and power efficiency go down the drain. Now looking to replace. Thermocool has been hyped for the low power consumption, don't know if anyone can attest to its longevity. PotatoSalad: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by PotatoSalad(m): 2:19pm On May 18 |
mctfopt: litaninja:I have 3 hisense and 1 LG inverter ACs in the house. My technician came for maintenance in February and said oga your ACs are still good as new. Maintain them well and nothing will happen to them. Hisense Inverter ACs are called mortuary standard for a reason. Used thermocool before. Low power consumption, yes but they don't chill that well. 3 Likes |

Greetings to the house. Can i connect 9pieces of jinko 580w panel [ 51v VOc @STC] total 459v to a growatt spf 5000es[max voc 450v] and just hope that cable losses, environmental conditions will clip the extra 9volts or more. Is it a bad gamble? |

Chai! Sorry for the loss. Seems it's the season of lightning in Benin. It also got to an inverter at a friend's house. I had asked if he's earthed the new building and he said he paid the electrician handling the project to do it. I got a call that the system was showing error code which translates to a short circuit problem. Had someone go check out the earthing of the house only to find just a naked thunder arrestor chilling on the rooftop without any form of wire connection attached to it. I wonder why some people are just somehow. He paid huge amount for the earthing to be done and yet nothing was done. osayuwamwen: |

Drgreatone:Update: So ended up getting a 2kva hybrid inverter early this year cos i needed my freezer powered which those ffl my story wud know. Still kept this inverter as back up and yesterday mistakenly put on the freezer on it and it powered it after a single beep. Turns out it was the fmr battery that cudnt carry my freezer. Now I av 2 inverters capable of carrying my freezer. Tempted to sell it but wit the way price of things are, its a good back up for my system. 2 Likes |

icjunior: So I tried the Gen mode on the remote. Result is disappointing. Apparently the Gen mode button isn't supposed to work on this model. It appears this remote is universal for some models of LG ACs, so it's not every button on it thar works. I simply pressed the button and watched out for any changes in the power consumption, but nothing worthy of note happened. I checked the manual and it seems everything that has to do with "energy saving" is optional for this unit that I got, except maybe the fact that the "inverter" model it is makes it to ramp up slowly. So the jet mode ramps up to 1010w, cools the room from 31 degrees to 28 degrees in about 30 minutes and the the jet mode deactivates. By then, the consumption had dropped to 957 watts. It's s currently down to 944w as I'm typing. This has got to be my saddest gadget purchase in a very long time. The only thought filling my head right now is how many premium solar panels I could have secured with the almost 500k price tag on this useless AC purchase, and my spirit will be happy with me that my power generation increase is guaranteed for another 10 years. Really mad at myself. At 5:28pm, consumption now down to 847 watts 1 Like

PotatoSalad: Thanks a lot, this exactly what I'd love to see; real life based experienced backed assertions. So thermocool while giving you that energy efficiency may just not cool as well as Hisense. Is it because of this lower cooling capacity of the thermocool AC that made you replace it with Hisense? Secondly, between the Hisense and LG which of these two is more power efficient in your experience? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 5:23pm On May 18 |
kristien4: I am about to do this, please tag me when you get answers or decide to help us see how it panned out when you decide to do it. Worst case scenario it'll enter error mode when voltage overshoots 450v. You can only find out by a trial 2 Likes |

Pls those that are using sms charge controller, it's showing amps coming to the battery but it's not showing the panel voltage,is it how it works UPDATE: you have to press the left button for some seconds before it will display the p.v voltage 1 Share

Xanderone: Sorry about this experience. But I thought I have seen someone say their LG inverter AC power consumption can drop below 700w. As Gen Mode button is not working on this model, which model does it work for? Any possibility of return as what you got is not what you want? Once again sorry about this experience. |
