You see this things called Karma? It's not your mate. I will suggest you reflect back in the past how you started.

I strongly believe your past is hurting you now. Maybe you were once the Chairman of Nigeria Debtors Association before now.

You can't end, but live with it. But the most fastest easy way is to close down and rest.

I'm a retailer of foodstuffs which is a combination of raw foods and manufactured products. But due to this harsh economy, some of my regular customers are already misusing the opportunity of paying back later. Some of them even goes to extence of lieing they'hv forgotten they were oweing me. And you know that if i dont sell those products regularly especially raw foods, i will be at lost. Because i will sell it cheaper to people not knowing it as already increase in price at the market. What do i do? How do i discourage debtors from coming near my shop?

OP, that's why we see most businesses get a little expansion and employ staff who collects money, gives a receipt before releasing goods. Though you spend salaries and incentives but at the end of day, there'd be nothing like credit/debt on the goods that you didn't buy on credits/debts from your supplier.

Till 419ners collect your goods and relocate forever ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ. I know a distributor of soya oil that was duped. I rather supply without adding a Kobo just to help you grow than give on debt๐Ÿ’ฏ.

My friend had to go to a super market and pick groceries as the owner was not willing to pay up. Crazy people everywhere

1. Stop laughing and gisting with anyone who comes into your shop. Just greet them, ask them what they want, give them and take your money. Limit unnecessary gists. Cos if you keep laughing with them, they would take advantage of your friendly nature and wait for you to package the items they requested for inside a nylon before telling you that they'll pay you on Monday.

2. Let them know that things are hard. With the current situation in the country, if you keep on being soft on customers, they'll take advantage of you. Even if they have money, they'll stii buy on credit so that they won't pay. That's how wicked some people can be. Stand your ground and respectfully decline their request to buy on credit. Remind them of the economy. It's better for your provisions to be in your shop, than for customers to buy them on credit and weeks later they still haven't paid you back.

3. Place a notice that reads "Pay before Service" or "No Credit Today Come Tomorrow"

4. Reduce the way you relate with people in the neighborhood were your shop is located. The more popular you make yourself, the more you'll have jobless people lurking around you shop begging for credit which they won't pay back.

Excessive credit kills business. So if you don't want your business to collapse stop giving out things on credit.

Eggactly, you are gbamsolutly right

Well done ma. The first problem you are currently facing is FEAR. Trust me as far as it's FMCG related product, you will sell. Do not be scared of losing customers. Do not forget that credit sales is no sell.

You need to put your foot on the ground and demand that your business is cash and carry. The more you sell credit, the more you expose your business to loss. You cannot stop them from buying from you. You can only demand your cash from them.

He may be attention seeking but he's asking valid questions that will get replies others might find useful. Nothing wrong with that

Diversify your market instead of sitting in one place waiting for the debtors to come patronize you before you sell, nowadays you can sell anything online.
You can as well patronize a storage like cold room if you are into live stock, or seek for a processing plant near you if your perishables is plant base.
Also join associations that sell to exporters or rather get my course on mini exportation and earn foreign currency in return.
So if he diversified, debtors will not own him anymore? Sometimes someone of us sound so knowledgeable but irrational and illogical.

Rubbish!
Do this,do that,join exporters etc.
Even big time farmers and produce marketers cannot export their products,it's someone running a shop business you are telling.
Even all these online marketing some people are raving about, some sustain big time losses.
Advice him on his present predicament not all these useless textbook business ideas.
**I didn't even read the last paragraph of your rubbish, would have known,it's one person advertising one theoretical business's idea or book.
