LexngtonSteele: ^^^ No they aren't. The professional thing to do would be to investigate, get the culprits arrested and have them charged in a civilian court. This wild, mass attack on the Plaza will solve nothing - innocent people who had nothing to do with the mobbing of those soldiers will end up as victims. LexngtonSteele: ^^^ Ok. While this story is still unfolding and we don't have all the details of what exactly happened, we can all agree nobody in their right mind would support a mob attack. But the soldiers response (as always) is a disappointment. I guarantee a lot (and I mean a lot) of people who had nothing to do with that mob action will end up paying for it. That makes no sense at all. There is a right way - and there's a wrong way to do things. These soldiers chose the wrong way. 2 Likes |

olatade: ^^^ Here we go again with this talk about 'bravery'. It is the results Nigerians are interested in. Results! Nigerians want to be able to move safely from Uyo to Katsina or Zamfara without getting abducted or shot by terrorists. That's all! Oh...we are now at the stage where we are separating the ones fighting civilians in the street from the ones 'fighting for us'? Laughable. 1 Like |

Magnumproperty: ^^^ Listen to yourself. It took a little longer than expected but the excuses have started pouring in. Instead of telling these stories - do the needful, as they say. Nobody wants these long explanations for a glaring failure to secure the country. Nobody wants them! Just get the job done. |

pongwa: ^^^ No it isn't. A few weeks ago, masquerades and other spiritual entities seriously assaulted a nurse for the terrible crime of riding an okada during Diokpa festival. Was that also an assault on the nation? pongwa: ^^^ Ok...if you say so. But...no right thinking person can say that soldiers storming the plaza is an 'investigation'. You see where they got it wrong - like they always do? |

Azazyel: ^^^ This has nothing to do with it. We are having a serious discussion here. Azazyel: ^^^ This has nothing to do with anybody liking anybody. Nobody has to like soldiers. Liking soldiers is not a requirement for citizenship. They are government workers paid to do a job - and the problem is that the job just isn't being done. We have soldiers besieging a building in the heart of the capital city while real threats to national security lie unchallenged in our forests, hills and mountains. This is not how to get things done. 1 Like |

they will always come back with guns. If not with the guns, what will they do their fellow man one on one? Always abusing privileges forgetting that they are paid with the tax collected from the sweat of the civilians they intimidate and maltreat. 1 Like |

Social media really needs to be regulated so that duz E-warriors and keypad warriors on this platform can be seriously dealt with. Irrespective of what those Soldiers has done, nothing should warrant you to hit them when on that uniform. When you do that you are attacking the Nation and listen No Country I repeat No Country in the world however civilized will tolerate such affront, You try hitting an American Soldier on Uniform and see what will happen to you afterwards. Who are these children of hate supporting this rubbish? Damn what a Country. And I think it's high time the Nigerian military started steering clear of civil cases for the sake of their respect. They should stop using our Men for debts retrieval or phone replacements and so on . Any Soldiers caught doing this should be arrested. Leave civil matters for civilians and Police . I feel so sad but honestly that complex shall remain closed till further notice. 1 Like |

There's so much indiscipline in the Nigerian armed forces especially the Nigerian Army because if you look at what led to the initial altercation which resulted to assault on the soldiers, you'll understand what I'm talking about. For their roles as defenders of the country against internal and external aggressions, they're supposed to have a level of civility, training on conflict management and resolution that's very important for interacting with civilians....... 1 Like |

Re: Soldiers Retaliate After Clash With Abuja Traders(video) by Angelfrost(m): 8:16am On May 19 |
pongwa: Yes it is...! It is also a crime for soldiers to attack and shoot at unarmed civilians under any guise. That in itself is worse than a war crime. A lot of you don't know how a normal and lawful society works... Such a shame. No soldier has any business being in the streets except there is war or civil unrest that has gone beyond the capacity of the Police to handle. If a civilian insults a soldier or tries to assault one, the police should be called upon to deal with the civilian according to the dictates of the law. Soldiers are not above the laws of the land. 1 Like |
