Thank God those soldiers running no carry guns, if not dem for aim those running civilians. Their ogas will never issue any statement on this matter. I'm very sure they're aware of this retaliation. |

I see no reason why Nigeria soldiers always like behaving like touts. I mean, anytime there's any altercation with them, the n3xt thing they do is to reinforce and start attacking people left, right and centre. Frankly, this is totally unacceptable. They should be spoken to and dealt with. They're tainting the name of the Army. It's a shame nobody wants to call them to order, for fear to being attacked also. 1 Like |

Fujiyama: Nobody said fighting civilians is the right thing to do. It shows how indisciplined the soldiers are. My point is that there are certain people from a particular tribe on this forum that would bash soldiers at any given opportunity even if they show discipline and achieve success. We've seen it many times. Whenever the soldiers in the North East give briefings about successes achieved against insurgents, this group of people would say something like: audio killings, show us video, only one terrorist killed e.t.c. Then when the soldiers are killed by terrorists, you'll see them so happy. Don't act like you don't know what's going on. It's evident. The soldiers are actually trying their best against the terrorists but as you can see there are saboteurs within this country. So you actually think soldiers can win the war without exposing and prosecuting the sponsors? The solution to the insurgency is simple. Why is the president keeping mute on the sponsors? No prosecution, nothing! Soldiers are just pawns in the game. |

Nigerian soldiers keep doing this shit and think it's a flex. They don't know that it makes the people they are protecting lose respect for them; especially considering the fact that they can only flex for unarmed civilians. Na them dey run from boko haram. Fucking illiterate. 1 Like |

Azazyel: ^^^ Ok. At least you are fair and honest about what proper behaviour should be. You would not believe the number of people on this platform that see absolutely nothing wrong with soldiers beating, kicking, maiming and even killing civilians for no just cause. Some of them are just trolling and having their fun. But some of them are not. There are far too many people (even on this very thread) who believe that soldiers are superior to civilians in every way possible. Those of us who don't subscribe to that nonsense will call it out anyday, anytime. Azazyel: ^^^ I generally avoid ethnic mudslinging on this platform - it isn't my thing. What I can assure you is that there are many, many people from different ethnic groups across this country who have nothing positive to say about their countrymen in uniform. These people are not from just one ethnic group - and their views are borne out of bitter experience. There's nothing you can say to console someone who has lost innocent kith and kin during a Nigerian army operation - where entire villages are sacked and burnt to the ground in the so called pursuit of suspects. Azazyel: ^^^ There's a lot of trolling that goes on here. A lot of it is supported by the anononymity of the platform and that is what allows trolls to have a field day. Such trolls can claim to be anyone from anywhere - and they can say almost anything. Its the easiest thing in the world. Having said that, there are people on this platform who have a lifelong grudge against soldiers because of what soldiers have done to them or their loved ones in the past. I mentioned this earlier and someone also referred to Obasanjo earlier. In 1978, soldiers went to Fela Kuti's house and destroyed the place because Fela's music was critical of Obasanjo and his regime. There were several civilian casualties in that attack but the Obasanjo government simply said the attack was carried out by "unknown soldiers". Fela remained a bitter enemy of Obasanjo and Danjuma till his death. In Obasanjo's second coming 20 years later, he again authorized soldiers to invade 2 Nigerian communities (Zaki Biam and Odi) over the killing of several soldiers by unknown individuals. Those communities have still not recovered till today. There are people in those communities who had nothing to do with the murder of those soldiers - yet these people lost everything during the so called reprisal attacks by the nigerian army. Do you think such people will ever have anything positive to say about the army? Azazyel: ^^^ It is hard for innocent victims of army raids to buy into this narrative...or to sympathize with soldiers on their 'predicament' as the pawns in a high stakes political game that costs lives. The civilian on the street doesn't make policy. He doesn't know anything about the military chain of command. What he does know is that if someone in his village or neighbourhood should hurt some soldiers somewhere, he is likely to become collateral damage - and 'nothing will happen', as they say. So how can he be sympathetic - knowing that those he's sympathizing with may pronounce him guilty by association and turn on him at the drop of a hat? |

obataokenwa: What r u saying, the first offender are the market people. How can dey dub the soldier and expect him to keep quiet. Small thing u will start insulting them n calling them coward that they r been massacred in the forest. Whereas very few of you can even stand with ur potbelly in the sun n rain for hours. Let alone walk in hours inside the forest for days for peanuts of 50k. They still save up money to buy cheap android phone(I've seen many soldier and o swear I've not seen any using any phone above 200k) yet una still swindle them and beat them join, what audacity, I don't care what Russian soldier n American soldier does but here I won't support that thrash of a judgement that they should fold their hands. So that even Okada man will now be slapping soldier for demanding for his change just because he decided to serve his father land for peanut |

ufotunang: And if they do u won't believe. No this, for every killing the soldier do in the south they do x10 in the North. U need to check some of their phones to see things yourself. But that aside u that have the will to retaliate. Can u even have the courage to visit the boko camp with gun let alone engage them. Or u will rather lazy around with ur phone look for who to defraud and insult those defending the nation |

Available9:Oga shut up. Did you watch the first video? First you cannot attack a soldier no matter what. He can kill you on the spot and there's nothing anyone on earth will do about it. The two soldiers were attacked by a mob of boys and they didn't fight back. I watched the video from the beginning. The two soldiers escorted a man to the plaza probably to look for someone who offended the man and a bunch of boys just started attacking them unprovoked. The soldiers have burn down that building and claim it was a hideout for terrorists and there's anyone would do about it. |

Military high command should endeavor to put an end to the way this small small recruit soldiers maltreat civilians.. why wouldn't they beat soldier when a yahoo boys will go hire small small soldiers just to maltreat and embarrass civilians like them. At the end if the the civilians now stood his ground to fight back maybe unto street experience they now end up beating the rented or hired soldiers. You will now be seeing all this rascal behavior of recruit soldiers on civilians. 99% of times you see soldiers being beating or killed by civilians happens because that soldier is on illegal duty.Yes sometimes is even a female that will go and hire soldiers just because maybe she is fucking the soldier boy or she know someone that has a soldier friends.... Because no civilians will attack soldiers when they know they are on legal duty. |

Re: Soldiers Retaliate After Clash With Abuja Traders(video) by Fujiyama: 12:39am On May 20, 2024 |
Komu1048: ^^^ But that isn't his job. He hasn't been trained for it. When other professionals are criticized, they take it in good faith and try to do better. This army on the other hand curses its critics and asks them why they don't do the job instead. That's not how it works. Komu1048: ^^^ Here we go again. Nigerian teachers don't demand 'respect' because they are teaching the nation. Nigerian farmers don't demand 'respect' because they are feeding the nation. Nigerian tailors don't demand 'respect' because they are clothing the nation. They just get on with their jobs, come rain come shine. The 'defenders' of the nation really need to learn a thing or two from these other groups. |

I generally have no sympathy for Nigeria's civilians when they're in conflict with authority. For me Nigeria's civilians are altogether too entitled and much of this is informed by an overblown sense of America. Nigerians need to calm down and cease with these swelling with anger and swaggering about in fury because of some misguided sense of righteous Abroadness. |
Re: Soldiers Retaliate After Clash With Abuja Traders(video) by EnterpriseMan(m): 7:39pm On May 20, 2024 |
Fujiyama:If a soldier commits a crime in public view you record it and send to the appropriate authorities. But in this case, I watched the full video and the soldiers did not commit any crime. They escorted a man there probably to make a complaint and the tugs started attacking both soldiers and the elderly man. They both had to run, they even went as far as stepping on the man's head on the ground with a timberland boot. So they fully deserve whatever repercussions they get. |
Re: Soldiers Retaliate After Clash With Abuja Traders(video) by Fujiyama: 8:55pm On May 20, 2024 |
EnterpriseMan: ^^^ This simply doesn't work in the real world. I have had personal experience in this. Nigerian soldiers are notoriously vicious towards anyone who records their activities. It is almost a given now that when a group of soldiers want to break the law, there are some of them whose job is to scan the people and buildings around and to immediately attack anyone recording the crime on their camera phones. You know this is true and it happens all the time. Record their activities? Nigerian soldiers savagely attack anyone who takes or makes calls on a mobile phone near a military checkpoint (even though there has never been a circular or announcement from army or defence HQ banning the use of phones near military checkpoints) on Nigerian roads. And you think these soldiers will consent to being recorded in the middle of committing a crime? Your suggestion simply doesn't work well in the real world. Some brave Nigerians have recorded soldiers in the middle of criminal activity but there is often a heavy price to pay for this bravery. The worst part of all this is that these excesses of the rank and file are enabled by their commanders. Very unprofessional. |
Re: Soldiers Retaliate After Clash With Abuja Traders(video) by Fujiyama: 9:11pm On May 20, 2024 |
EnterpriseMan: ^^^ We all saw the video too. The mob action on those soldiers was condemnable. They could have been killed by the mob. Nobody gains from that. There are some stories going round that the soldiers escalated the situation prior to what we saw on the video. I do not know if this is true or not. What I do know is that raiding the plaza with reinforcements and attacking any civilian in sight is not (and can never be) a solution. Like I said earlier on this thread, the victims of this 'retaliation' will be innocent people who had nothing to do with the 'mobbing' of those MPs. The sensible thing to do is to investigate and charge those guilty of assaulting those soldiers to court for assault. How hard can it be to do these things the proper, lawful way? EnterpriseMan: ^^^ You have not said who "they" are. |
