Your tenants who are living in your house? When whites and Arabs are even packaging their own fruits and hanging it in front of their houses for strangers and passers-by to grab if they need it!

No be Nigeria we dey. Give the tenants chance and see them abuse it. The landlord won't taste any of the fruit again.

Landlord said we have to dig another borehole and buy new water tanks in the compound else he will remove the other one he dug. He said it's our duty to dig boreholes, buy pumping machine and water tanks to make sure there is enough water running in the compound

I once lived in an apartment where the landlord said 'No generator'. Funny enough, he didn't inform me before-hand. It was after I packed in and was unloading, he saw my generator and told me about the rule.


I calmly told him that I've heard and will abide. That rule prompted me to construct an iron cage for my generator. Any time it's hot, I'll just turn on my generator, enter my house and turn the music so loud that ain't gonna hear sh1t. He shouted, cussed and threatened fire & brimstone. For where? His children too threatened but I stood my ground.

Once he brought Policemen and we went to the station, nothing happened. Even he too knew nothing would come out of it when the Police people too turned on their gen for the D.P.O.

The Baba got tired and resigned to fate. He said he'll evict me after my rent expired, too bad I paid for 2 years.

After that incident, every other tennant became inspired and started using their generators. When our transformer got spoilt and the heat became unbearable, even Oga Landlord too bought a brand new generator. We all went to congratulate him for finally joining the clique. Las las, I and Baba became good friends until I left the compound about 4 years later.

I don't like the generator noise too. Mostly for security reasons at night. Hencw the reason I'm planning extending solar panels to all the apartments so they all get their batteries and inverter.

i used to have an office in yard where landlord has many rules but the funny one is that you should not pick a Mango fruit from the compound or any other fruit for that matter. Fruit that fall by itself oooo. As for plucking from the tree. You should just hand your self to the police

23 years ago my Friend rented a room and Palour at Elelewon Porthacourt. The Ikwere man wey be Landlord called him aside after 5 months and seriously told him that he should take a look at any of his 3 daughters instead of that his girlfriend that comes to wash his clothes and occupy the whole line.. guy man jeje began to plot his way out and moved out after his 2 years rent expired...the man's daughters would stop by to watch DVD, Iron their clothes, ask to help with secondary school maths assignments ...
Baba himself will just knock push his way in...drink one bottle talk plenty and start gossiping about other tenants and their wives...my guy just tire...me sef con dey fear to go visit am

At first when I got the apartment, my landlady said she only wanted to rent it out to a married couple but after a while she agreed, she put up normal rules and stuff as most landlords do and I had no issues because I wasn’t living in right away.

Fast forward to almost 2 years there she has adopted me as one of her children. All her children are abroad. When I’m home, I go to her flat to gist, most times she invites me. If she doesn’t see me, she calls to check up on me.

She has literally become my mother. She is a disciplined woman being a retired soldier, but I can tell she really likes me. She always compared me to one of her sons (her favorite I guess).

I was just patient with her from the onset and never was I rude to her once.

Note: I am still not married and she doesn’t even ask when I’m getting married.

It was a face me face you compound. About 16 rooms and more than 40 occupants. The Land lady said the toilet should only be flushed once a day. Reason is that frequent pouring water inside the toilet will cause the soak away to full.

This is what I'm currently looking for o. Mine acts like a witch, as if there's something I'm owing her. I can't wait for my rent to expire so I can move out. The wisdom of silence is what has been keeping me in her compound.

My landlord is a Lecturer at CAC Seminary and a senior member of CAC church.
His rules include:
1. Women should not wear trousers in his compound.
2. No Tattoo person must be seen in his compound - Visitor or Tenant.
3.Gen must be put off by 12am
4.Gas Cylinder must be put outside
5. No tenant should default in paying power bill thereby making the Light to be cut off by the officials.
6.Notice of exit must be given 3months ahead
7. No modifications to the existing structure.
8. No House Fellowship

My landlady na monitoring spirit.she says she knows how many times we use the toilet,she said the sound of water when we shower disturbs her in her house,she does not want my 4 yrs old baby boy to play inside his own room because of noise,my wife washes clothes too much and works too much.
She said we should not use toilet more than once.I stay in a 1 bedroom flat.

Why won't you? Are you telling me that if you live in a comfortable 3 bedroom flat, you'll wash outside? Or you have a washing machine, will you carry it outside ni abi what is it you're saying sef? Or if you live on the third floor,you'll carry your laundry down to wash? Abeg, landlords should do the needful and not stress the hel out of their tenants.

In building construction, only the toilet waste goes into the sceptic tank. Other wastes like kitchen and bathroom goes into a smaller tank. But in Nigeria, landlords will just build rubbish and make all waters go into the same sceptic tank.

I've always heard people say "don't live in the same compound with your landlord or landlady" I thought it was a joke till I moved into one.

Once it's 4pm, closing hour and I remember I'll be going back to the compound, my mind skips. Its as if one is married to a troublesome wife. Nothing I've not seen here. She moves into my space when I've left for work, damages my burglary locks at intervals and claims its rain that spoilt it, no privacy, monitors my calls, places fetish things on my door post, determines when my tv will be on or off by maneuvering my current, all manner of things I've never seen in my life.

The worst is, she is a widow and during my early times as a new tenant, she always brings up erotic talk and demanding for money. Since I refused to give her any, its been hell all through, but I will move out whether the devil likes it or not.

I arrived my friend house around 11pm. He was yet to arrive from official trip. Landlord came out with double barrel gun. I was lucky one of the lady corper my friend housed confirmed that he mentioned it to her that in case he didn't come back as expected, a friend may come around.
