Those of you calling me out are all ignorant. If some thugs beats soldiers, why can’t the thugs be fished out? Rather you make everyone surfer for the sin of a few. This is not rule of law. I REPEAT THIS CANT HAPPEN IN A DEVELOPED OR SANE SOCIETY. NIGERIA IS STILL A JOKE. Rubbish! 2 Likes 1 Share |

When people talk about Japa, this is one of the reasons. Yes, you can make money in Nigeria, but it doesn't stop something like this nonsense from happening to you. The difference is, when it happens to you abroad (which is very unlikely), there are consequences. You can sue, and there is nothing like "unknown soldier." In Nigeria, the soldier who did this, might not even be identified. The lady in question, if she has died, might be dumped in some mortuary or on the road side somewhere and nothing will be done. Abroad is not perfect, but the system works way better than Nigeria. I love Nigeria, and it will always be my country, but it is running on a failed system. The last time I was in the country, I was stopped at a police checkpoint somewhere along Lekki Phase 2. The officers threatened to take me to the station because I didn't have any Nigerian Identification on me. I showed thhem my Texas Drivers license and even my my work ID in America. They said it was fake. I told them my American and Nigerian passports where both in the safe in my hotel room and they can follow me to verify. Instead, they stated we would settle it at the station. I immediately put a call to a friend who works at the Ameircan embassy, and he called the area commander, who then called my phone to speak to the officers. They initially didn't want to speak to him, but when I started calling the names on their uniform to the commander over the phone, the inspector took the phone from me. After speaking to the commander, the inspector still.had the audacity to ask me for "American Dollars" as he put it. I was disgusted. They delayed me for almost 2 hours. Horrible experience. I love Nigeria, but it is my people that are destroying the country. 3 Likes |

Trouble started when thugs beat up some soldiers who had a disagreement with a trader in the plaza. This is the genesis of the whole fracas. My question is, what is the business of soldiers in the matter involving a trader and customer? The solders that were beaten up got involved in a civil matter. The army authorities needs to discipline their men involved. Oshkosch: CAN SOLDIERS GET IN INVOLVED IN CIVIL MATTERS IN A DEVELOPED OR SANE SOCIETY? 3 Likes |

Absuchat: . And what if not? I dont get it. Will people only have rights when they are associated with someone who ranks higher than the individual who violates their right? We dont care even if her husband is the GCFR. Right is right! Fight for that thing called rights and spare theory of association. 1 Like 1 Share |

So you're saying if MKO had ruled, Nigerians will be suffering like this? I can only hold state gov accountable if there's true federalism where the gov is in charge of the state resources and pay a percentage to run the fg and there's state police. Without state resource control, i cannot hold the state accountable Padipadi: |

This is one of the reasons why a properly funded independent federal and state policing structure should be an immediate priority to ensure the army goes back to their barracks until they are called or instructed to secure our territorial integrity not to function as an alternate to civilian policing! In saner climes,no matter who is at fault, the army should have reported the matter to the police who would have carried out investigations and punish those who need to be punished while compensating the victim! In naija, the military feels they can do anything including shutting down a business premise! It's surprising that for 4 days, the IGP has not taken control of the incident! 1 Like 1 Share |
