Chelsea part ways with head coach Mauricio Pochettino after just 11 months in charge.

The 52-year-old returned to the Premier League after an 18-month spell in France with Paris Saint-Germain, looking to turnaround a Blues side wounded following a 12th-placed finish in the 2022-23 season.

Pochettino's Chelsea started slowly but bounced back admirably in the second half of this season to clinch a spot on the continental stage, ending up sixth in the Premier League, just three points behind Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.

The vast majority of the Blues' squad - alongside the head coach - has been in line for criticism at points in the campaign, apart from summer arrival Cole Palmer.

The former Manchester City man was a shining light in a difficult period for Chelsea, finishing with 22 top-flight goals, trailing only Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have parted ways with head coach Pochettino by mutual consent following the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.

The report claims that the club's sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart - alongside co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali - told the Argentine boss of the decision late on Tuesday morning.

Pochettino had been involved in a number of meetings with the Chelsea hierarchy on Monday and Tuesday, reviewing the progress on the pitch during the concluded season.

With the 52-year-old leaving the club one year into a two-year contract, he is expected to receive a significant compensation package once the finances are settled.

There is understood to be 'no bad blood' between the two parties, with Chelsea's rise towards the European places in the final stages of the season appreciated by the club.

Whoa! Not expected at all. Though, it is Chelsea, and their impatience.

Pochettino steered Chelsea to just one defeat in their last 15 Premier League matches, turning 11th place in April to a sixth-place finish.

That's how to know an ambitious club.

Poch is an average coach. He doesn't have this winning mentality.

Chelsea is a big club, qualifying for Europa is not their standard.

Ngozi united is very much happy with their mediocre coach even after finishing 8th on the table.

Assnal fans are saying this is their best season, even after going trophy less without playing any finals.

This is not a surprise news to greater number of Chelsea fans worldwide. We've expected that he was sacked when Chelsea flooted between 10th & 12th positions for four good months. Although, he started doing well lately towards the end of the season but that is not enough reason to retain him as Chelsea Head Coach in the coming 2024/2025 football season.

I'm totally in support of the sack.

I left..!

Alright

Who could be the young manager?
Possibly any of Stuttgart, Girona, Leicester or Ipswich Town Managers
Re: Mauricio Pochettino And Chelsea Part Ways With Immediate Effect. by Hezzyluv: 7:43pm On May 21
Chelsea would struggle next season. Why will they not even allow him to at least, manage them for one more year?

It even appeared lately that the players have started blending. Now, another manager would arrive and start his own style all over again. And before these guys adapts to his formations, man city would be leading with 20points. undecided

He tried his best but his best wasn't good enough. Chelsea is a big club with ambitious owners. It's one thing to qualify for Europa and another thing to lose the trust of the owners. Poch made some bad footballing decisions that made Chelsea dangle in 10th-12th position for months.

I'm a Chelsea fan. A club with a history of sacking managers anyhow.

But I must admit this took me by surprise.

Why didn't they inform me first? undecided

On a serious note, it's back to square one for us.

And bad news for Enzo Fernandez. The team seemed to do well in his absence and I'm not sure the new coach will favour him.

Stupid club and their management decisions.

Todd Boehly will ruin that club.

The coach already got them on the right track playing like a team and winning... All they had to do was work with him next season to solidify his philosophy.

Probably why De Zerbi hurriedly resigned.

Another Brighton coach headed to Stamford Bridge.
