Burkina Faso President Cuts Politicians' Pay, Boosts Workers' Salaries by Solitechworld(m): 6:34pm On May 21 |
Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of Burkina Faso, has implemented significant changes to government salaries as part of his reform agenda. He reduced the salaries of ministers and high-ranking politicians by 30%, aiming to address economic imbalances and promote financial responsibility within the government. In a further move to support the general workforce, Traoré increased the salaries of public sector workers by 50%, signaling his commitment to improving the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. Remarkably, Traoré himself has refused to accept the presidential salary, opting instead to maintain his pay as a military captain. This decision underscores his focus on solidarity and leadership by example during Burkina Faso's transitional period . These actions have garnered both domestic and international attention, with public figures such as Nigerian activist Charly Boy applauding the measures as a step towards economic justice and governance reform. 12 Likes

President emilokan hurriedly left the chat room, but if it is to increase tarrif for the masses, his foot soldiers will launch propaganda about how other African nations pay more tarrif for such services, while Nigeria's tarrif is the cheapest hence need to be increased. is it not a shame that Nigeria - an oil rich nation is promising the workers paltry #48.000 minimum wage, while Burkina Faso - a small country is paying the workers #90.000 monthly minimum wage ? the amount that our political elites are cornering to themselves should be reduced, while those caught looting billions while in office should be hanged, then there will be more than enough resources for the government to take care of the citizens . 5 Likes 1 Share |

Jlow2: Burkina Faso's Income Per Capita is $670 a year, while Nigeria’s is $3000 a year. Burkina Faso’s minimum wage is only an official figure that pertains to the tiny few who actually get paid a formal salary, with over 80% of the country in the informal economy, mostly subsistence farmers. Access to Electricity in Burkina Faso is 21% of the population. In Nigeria it is 65%. Trust me, you could not survive 2 weeks in Burkina Faso, without calling for your DADDY to come and take you back to Nigeria. The other day one idiot here was saying that Niger Republic was better than Nigeria. When I informed him that Access to Electricity in Niger Republic is 11%, he disappeared from the thread. 11 Likes 3 Shares |

lordm:it's funny how leaders are defined. Once you're democratically elected, you can go on and show your people shege without anyone minding. But if you chase out those wicked rulers and implement policies that will better the lives of the ordinary masses, you will be termed tyrant. The problem of Africa is beyond colonisation. Xi of China has been there for ages and you're struggling to go to China right now. Doing everything to run away from the democracy you so much cherish 6 Likes 1 Share |

Kushites: TO add, Burkina lives on cotton...which is not earning enough cash right now. America is the world leader in cotton production. And it overproduces cotton, and....that depresses cotton prices...and...the US pays its cotton farmers subsides to prevent a collapse....which depresses international cotton prices more. NIgeria and Burkina need to diversify. Even that our gdp is a mess. But Burkina makes ours look bountiful...when it isn;t. 3 Likes 1 Share |

michlins: DIctatorship shege is different from democracy shege. Like now, MNK is going to court, yes he has not been released, but he is in court and he has access to his lawyers and even was allowed medical treatment Under a guy like Abacha? He would have been held incommunicado. Maybe even killed self. And his people would be 'clapping their hands' because if you don't clap, you are next. Problem with democracy in africa is simple. It takes hard work. People don';t want to do hard work. They just want to vote and go home. MNK was even detained under an extant law. Under army rule...some madt ruler would just pass a decree, backdate it to before MNK was jailed and use it to execute him. LIke Buhari did in 1985 for the drug mules they caught. And again y'all would be clapping, because if you don't clap, your'e next. 2 Likes |

lordm:just like ghaddaffi , what is left of Libya after his death, Africa is not ripe for western type of democracy, look at nigeria , after over 60years of independence, we re still battling with 18th century challenges, bad roads , portable water, epileptic electricity supply, people that ganged up against Abacha , re doing worse, all in the name of democracy, the projects ibb did and delivered within 8years beats what democracy has did within 20years, corruption has been institutionalized, Saudi Arabia and uae dnt know what is democracy, but look at what they have done with there oil money, what has Nigeria done with hers?, ghaddaffi did not stop living in a tent untill over 60% of Libyans owned a house, every graduate without a job is paid over 20k dollars yearly till they get a job, schools from primary to university was completely free under ghaddaffi just to mention but a few But what do we get in Nigeria , lesser hajj is subsidized with 90billion for 51000 pple, and student loan is 5billion for over 1.2m pple and counting, National Assembly car park gulps 20billion while over 20 tertiary institutions gets only 1billion for building hostels, burkinafaso has increased workers salary from 45000cfa to 90000cfas that is equivalent of 150k naira , and in Nigeria the minimum wage is 30k that can not buy half bag of rice, Nigeria is just an unfortunate place and country. 2 Likes 1 Share |
