kemzy107: who are the "we" that are doing the monitoring? has the government been able to "monitor and rate their performances" of its own security forces that it now wants to start monitoring and rating the performances of private security guards? obviously you are a paid propagandist |

One noticable trend in nairaland now is that once APC drop any news, their paid online typists will feast on it with blind comments and nairaland modes will quickly push it to the front page. Honestly this is making nairaland poor and uninteresting, no wonder many people are leaving nairaland, while others just stay mute. This trend must stop, nairaland should not become APC/ tinubu mouth piece. Let the forum regain it's pride as Nigerian forum for robust national engagements towards good nation building. 4 Likes 1 Share |

jumobi1: Give your own opinion first rather than relate to the thread based on your asumptons about other contributors. Makes you appear petty, unfocused and disinterested in the topic under discussion. @Topic. Another game-changer as almost everything else this Minister has done. This is immense. The Minister always cleverly works with the realities of Nigeria, to take in sabotage by our “business as usual” enemies-of-progress, to get things done. He knows State/regional policing will naturally face hurdles and decides to circumvent the impasse against it by boosting national security capacity using Private Security Guards. This is similar to his drive to make it harder for the Nigerian passport to end up in the wrong hand as happened by commission and/or omission under previous governments. A biometric Private security guard Database could even make a solid and hard to reject argument for the routine arming of Private security guards, as obtains in the USA, to the extent they become a potent deputy to the Nigerian police force. Unlike what obtains today where those who never want Nigeria secure and able to return fire on terrorist, bandits, kidnappers and militant herdsmen limit Amotekun to pea shooter ‘Shakabula’ guns while illiterate herders, bandits and kidnappers have AK47 as standard issue. Security in Nigeria will not be difficult to improve if that is what all Nigerians want and those who cause the insecurity are not same powerful and very influential political leaders, all the way to the highest offices of Nigerian politics, aiding, sponsoring and abetting insecurity in the first place. Kudos to the Minister of Interior. A good, well-meaning and competent leader getting results. |

CheapHomes1: They’re not talking gatemen for God sake. Private security guard means a whole different thing in this case and in relation to national security. Some of you let your bias and natural desire to see Nigeria fail blind your vision and stunt your capacity to reason logically. Use the link below to note what Private security company offers in the USA, to include armed guards, to understand that the Nigerian versions of things, as our people know it, is very different to the best versions of those things as obtain worldwide. https://www.securelionsecurity.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwr7ayBhAPEiwA6EIGxKbbhxlqz7_lql6V1NfdviEszi3wZ5OudokSPG-fPpGt4X6oBHIozBoCAb4QAvD_BwE |

WizardOfNG: we are talking of Nigeria, you are talking of USA. why should I "note what Private security company offers in the USA, to include armed guards, to understand that the Nigerian versions of things"? how does that answer the questions I asked? how will private security guard database improve national security? those that carry gun have not finished providing security. how will those that do ordinary gateman now provide security? you think your propaganda will sway anybody? |
Re: Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo: Data Base For Private Guards Will Enhance Security by WizardOfNG: 9:55am On May 22 |
CheapHomes1: Stop being obtuse. Nigeria has to change for the better as we have hit absolute rock bottom and even constitute a Sabotaging menace to each other. We all know those sponsoring terror and at the same time using their influence to ensure our security forces does not improve enough or adopt different models (State/regional policing for example) to gain the capacity to fight insecurity. This means new thinking, new innovation and, most importantly, the adoption of new model security parastatals and forces to combat a very troublesome and unique problem hosting a big element of internal sabotage. Yes Nigeria is not the USA but we need to be more like her if we want to improve security and thrive. USA has had State Policing and private armed security guards for ages. Those are even more important for a very ethnically, religiously, culturally, ideologically and geographically diverse Nigeria that has badly needed those development decades ago even from the time of OBJ. Nigeria has failed to move with the times , the rest of the world and best global practices. That is our major problem as a nation and the reason all problems keep overwhelming us Nigeria needs to adapt innovatively to face challenges or more of us will dies , with our nation continuing to stagnate economically, while the sponsors of insecurity and forces of regression will keep winning. Nigeria is today in a situation of light battling darkness. If forces of light does not get more innovative then it loses to to forces of darkness. As simple as that. If a choice, I welcome and would even use USA-style Private Security in the SW asap. You can do what you want in your region. |

Re: Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo: Data Base For Private Guards Will Enhance Security by WizardOfNG: 10:42am On May 22 |
CheapHomes1: Sinple. Private security gaurd database, especially if biometric, can aid the introduction and delivery of a brand new and efficient private security sector for Nigeria that can host the capacity to go on to be a hugely complementary addition to the efforts of our Police force. Good and robust biometric-enabled DBM (database management) can underpin the inauguration of a totally new, well-trained and very competent private security sector in Nigeria. Meaning we gain a private security sector , far more motivated and less corrupt than the NPF can ever be, that will work efficiently as similar models do wordlwide with good DBM impacting positively on robust and specific training, performance monitoring, job efficacy and of course quick detection and removal of incompetence/gross misconduct or abuse of office. Nigeria's security challenges has become more complex in the past two decades yet, for the obvious reasons of corruption and nefarious vested interest, long identified solutions, like State/regional policing, have not arrived as they should. Anyone who does not undersrand that Nigeria's security challenges has forever overwhelmed and moved beyond the capacity of our current NPF structure is delusional. |
