Ofunaofu: They are being realistic with N500k as minimum wage? Where do they expect the government to get the funds? To borrow or to increase more tax base which Nigerians are fuming at both? What should happen to private sector workers, how would they be able to cope in the same economy where the government workers would be earning X300% of their basic salary? What do you think would happen to Nigeria economy with government paying N500k as salary? Inflation of course. So what's realistic about Labour's proposal 104 Likes 2 Shares |

Yet the same FG that has a lots of freebie monies for a #5B presidential yacht, buy SUVs for NASS members, 90B for hajj subsidy, but same cant pay a decent minimum wage for it suffering workers? This government is the most wicked. Not even the draconian military regimes of the IBB/Abacha era surpassed it. 54 Likes 2 Shares |

helinues: Organized labour provided the breakdown of whatever they present to government. Government on the other hand could not justify the paltry sum they are brandishing. This is why we advise that when workers are talking, internet trolls should keep quiet. Politics is not about exhibition of stupidity and supporting a government should not make us empty our brains like zombies. 99 Likes 7 Shares

helinues: Are you saying that in your secondary school, you were taught that minimum wage causes inflation. If you are going to blame the minimum wage as the cause of inflation, I must confess, you learn nothing You are now implying that The current high inflation the country is experiencing at the moment is because of the N30,000 minimum wage 65 Likes 3 Shares |

paucity of funds is the greatest lie ever told by any government if truly there was no funds, they will not have any to steal. Increase the minimum wage... at least 700k/month 22 Likes 2 Shares |

helinues: When govt approved N30k minimum wage in 2018, $1 was N167, so that amount was about $180. Even then a litre of petrol was N87. That amount could get you 345 litres of petrol. Fast-forward to the economy destroyed by Tinubu, the N30000 or $180 then is now equivalent to N280,000. Also, the 345 litres of petrol is now about N267,000 post subsidy. So, tell me how N500,000 is unrealistic, when you ought to increase minimum wage by nothing less than 45%. We all remember that they increased it from N18000 to N30000, a 67% increase. 48 Likes 4 Shares |

helinues: How is Seychelles able to do it that their minimum wage is $460 that is about 690,000 Naira per month, How is Botswana a landlocked nation in Southern Africa able to do it that the minimum wage is $330 that is about 495,000 Naira. What about poor Mozambique paying between $150-$250 What about South Africa paying $1,200, or Kenya $400-$500 The real problem is our approach to Human Development here in West Africa. We have the weakest Human Development Index in the world meaning that we have the lowest wages and Standard of Living. If Obasanjo upgraded the minimum wage and it improved the standard of living during his first term of Presidency it's over 20 years now should we still be wallowing in what will make us weak or just increase the money and put in mechanism to ensure that the workers produce x10 or even x100 of their pay 45 Likes 4 Shares |

So in this people mind, the average private nursery school in Benue or Osun can afford to pay each of their teachers 500,000, and that one-man struggling business can afford to pay their cleaner 500,000k per month or you think minimum wage begins and ends at the public office, in fact, currently some states ain't even generating enough to pay the 30k minimum wage, if level one step one is 500k, how much will fresh graduates which usually start at level 8 receive, 3.5million monthly I guess, then a level 13/14 senior public servant will receive 13m monthly or do you intend to pay level one step one 500k but intend to pay level fourteen 600k? 5 Likes 3 Shares |
