So we'd rather retrogress to an anthem by our colonial masters instead of that "decreed by the Nigerian military"..
Issokay.
Like someone before me said if they've run out of ideas on what to deliberate on they should just disband themselves and spare us the colossal sums used in maintaining them. angry

Always Remember That Nigeria is a British Project Not a Country.

Most African countries are all colonialists projects. Before they were colonialist projects they were massive warzones, where bigger tribes are smaller tribes. The truth is that unifying us into bigger contraptions ended a lot of mess that we have.

If I wanted to travel from say Sokoto to Onitsha, I can do so peacefully. For most of the route. If I wanted to do so 600 years ago, I would have had to be rich enough to hire an armed guard all the way, because of the anarchic nature of the route. If I get kidnapped on the route, nothing like ransom. I would probably be sold as a slave, taken to say Brazil, and never see my family again. (Ajayi Crowther was lucky a british warship stopped the slave ship that was taking them to Brazil. If not, his fate would have been to be a slave forever).

As much as we would want to split up NIgeria, the result is going to be worse than the Balkans war. Bigger tribes will eat up smaller tribes. War would be all over the place. The result might not be what you want. It's not going to be a peaceful split.

GO and join a party and be the change you want, instead of grumbling about the british. ALl countries, are contraptions. Nothing like people came together in peace. Ethopia that was never colonised...they grew their country by WARS OF CONQUEST...and yes the issues from way back are still affecting them today.

Hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha!

Audio billionaires on Nairaland,

If you are not hungry, nobody will pay you to sale your conscience the way you have been paid here.

Please calm down and wait for your stipend on 27 day of this month.

The only way out is to put the clause of referendum in the constitution, conduct one and let's go out separate way. The con3 can never work, it's not a curse, but a reality which only realist can see. The foolish ones are still hanging unto hope.
Re: 'Nigeria, We Hail Thee': Bill seeking return of old anthem gets Reps, Senate nod by Amah70: 3:26pm On May 23
What is in an anthem? Return to True and Fiscal federalism is what Nigeria needs.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu crisscrossed the SW region for more than 15 years from 1999-2013 asking for political restructuring of Nigeria. What is President Tinubu waiting for before he convenes a People's National Conference to return True and Fiscal federalism to Nigeria?
Sovereignty belongs to the people, not to elected politicians.

Look at Venezuela 🇻🇪, look at Nigeria - crude oil and gas deposits is not all there is for a country to survive. Good governance system from a good political system is.

What is the standard of living of Nigerians and other African countries?

It's bad. And it is bad because we are resource dependent nations. Meanwhile, china, which is a large contraption , as is India, have some developemtn because they diversified their economies from one track to many tracks. Manufactured goods and services.

While all you guys want is cheap fuel and electricity, which prevents growth of the power sector and by extension industrial growth.

Being a resource dependent nation also prevents domestic manufacturing from growing. Ye don't want to do the hard work

And let's be honest, when african nations break up, they promptly look for a resource to sustain them

Anyway, if you want division, get your senator to pass the appropriate laws. But also consider that as a Nigerian, yer mentaility needs to change from there being a loaf of bread to divide into how we make that loaf of bread, and how we make the equipment to make the loaf of bread.

Every disadvantage has an advantage.

Ask them how many can even sing the current pledge and anthem. Very few.

When you are over paid your doing nothing, this is always the result.

The brains of many Nigerians have been reset by
lust for proceeds from crude oil in the Niger delta region.
How could any normal person think that resort to the old national anthem can help solve the present conflicts and hunger in Nigeria? The NASS should be preoccupied with return of Nigeria to True and Fiscal federalism.

I don't think all this senators know and understand the difficulties the masses are passing through.
Can you imagine what they are deliberating on.
Truth to be told, I blame all these myopic and sentimental elements that voted them to that office having collected a cup of rice in exchange to their future.
We have just started.

Nigeria has the worst system of government. Terrible human capital developmental structures, decrepit government bureaucracies, mundane policies, zero standard of living!

Do they themselves know the meaning of anthem? Taking pride to sing this anthem means you yourself is your brothers'/sisters' keeper. Speak truth to power regardless of the tribes. Equal, fairness and justice reigns supreme above all regardless of your status in society.

They only support it cos that was what they all sang in school and theyre nostalgic.

What about the rest of us that never heard this before and also nostalgic towards our most recent anthem. Ecspecially the 2nd stanza. They should just break the nation already. All this patch patch sef.
