The convoy of the deposed emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, has been withdrawn by Kano State government, following his alleged plan to return to his palace on Thursday evening.

Mr Bayero was in Abuja when the government dethroned him.

Credible sources said the dethroned monarch was trying to return to the palace to pack out his property and other personal belongings, availing himself of the 48-hour deadline given by Governor Abba Yusuf.

But sources said the state government stopped the emir’s move and asked security operatives to stop him from boarding flight to Kano.

A source in the state government told DAILY NIGERIAN that the government halted the move to avoid breakdown of the law and order in the state.

“When we learnt of his plan to return to the palace, we ordered all the vehicles in the convoy to return to the palace. The vehicles were already in the Kano airport awaiting his return.

“And we also drew the attention of security agents to thwart his plans of flying back to Kano at the moment,” said the source.

Earlier on Thursday, the state governor assented to Kano State Emirates Council (Amendment number 2) Law, 2024.

The amended law had abolished the establishment of 5 Emirate councils of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Karaye and Gaya in the state.

The governor signed the bill into law at the presence of the deputy governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, Speaker, Isma’il Falgore, the SSG, Abdullahi Bichi.

Speaking after the signing, the governor announced the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ll, who was deposed by former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019.

The governor gave 48 hours to the deposed emirs to vacate their palaces.

But let me use this opportunity to address religious bigots. Islam is causing chaos with enthronement and dethronement of Emirs in Kano. But Islam is peaceful in UAE. The Christianity causing problems in Nigeria is peaceful in Western countries. Can you now understand that humans are the problem? Stop blaming religion. Religion does not abuse itself. Humans are the ones abusing religion. If what is happening in Kano now is about Bishops or pastors, the bigots will condemn Christianity and say that Christianity is a white man's weapon to destroy Africa.

Those quoting and telling me that Emir is not about Islam do not know that Emir is an Arabic word. Ask yourself how and why the Arabic language gets to the northern Nigeria. Or, is there a Christian Emir?

I am more concerned with the direction of the state's government under Abba. I cannot see anything he has done since 2023, spent the last one year on vengeance, I don't know when he plans to actually govern the State properly.

Did he consent to treat Sanusi poorly when he was deposed by Ganduje?

That was a good move by the government and security operatives in Kano. His coming back might trigger anarchy by his supporters.

The British desecrated our Traditional institutions while revering theirs.

It's so funny and unbelievable that Kano State, a State that's predominantly occupied by HAUSA PEOPLE, and the only prominent state with high population of HAUSA PEOPLE is ruled and controlled by a few FOOL ANI people.
Same thing in Kwara where the Afonjàs have allowed fool ani occupiers to install Emir, instead of Oba of Ilorin or Kwara....

If he was in APshit, I d say the party is jinxing him. But this malam came from a neutral party that should be proving a positive point with development. Rather, he's performing worst than Gandollar. Meaning all politicians are the same. We v a bad leadership structure in Nigeria that one day, the breakdown of law and order won't be contained like Haiti own. Except rapid change begins. People with bad intentions are watching loopholes in governance and waiting for swift reaction ar any opportunity.
