Hello i got another offers in
University of Bolton=
Am just so confused about the one to follow up now.. how is life in bolton like, is the environment friendly or still expensive, are there higher chances of getting a job too..although the fees in bolton is a bit fair than that of Kingston, which should be more preferable,, ??

This may be late but I stay in Bolton, it’s a good area because it’s cheaper than Salford or Manchester but it’s easy to jump into Manchester, about an 1 hour plus by bus. Jobs you’ll be targeting will be in the whole greater Manchester which is connected by transport. I pay rent of about 715 pounds for a room Amd kitchen. I came with my bro so we split the rent.

How is the Job availability there? What should one expect as a student?

Form A rate was 560-565 while black market rate was around 800. So we are asked to put the money in the bank and fill form a online and wait for 60 days or highest 90 days to get funds processed.
I got mail from bank that my form A has been approved and I should wait for disbursement... Am waiting for disbursements till nw grin

Form A as of 2020 took two weeks to process. Fast forward to 2022, it took two months. Nobody should use Form A. This is why the funds MUST be saved in dollars till you enter the country. Dollars all through. Pay it as stated. It is the World's Reserve Currency.

[b]Even at that time u can't buy dollars from aboki to pay fees because banks won't process it as it is deposited not inflow.

That wasn't the case in mine. I simply paid directly to the school's account just as one would pay into someone's Nigerian bank account. Nothing concerned me with Form A.

Buhari made so many crazy policy.

My form a is still pending till date.
By February last year banks said only 7k per 6 months could be process through form a and even at that we waited for 9 months no show

Well, nobody can predict the future rates so you can't say what will happen. I think Its better to add more funds and cushion it but let's wait for more experienced people to answer

After London, I’ll say there’s no better place than Manchester. It may be tough for a month or two but you’ll get something maybe not up to 20 hours though because the demand is now less than the supply as many international students have flooded.

Jobs you should be targeting as a start are steward, cleaner, retail and later on care. Teaching assistant is a soft job that can give 20 hours if you have teaching experience. One thing also, get police report when coming from Nigeria, some jobs might need it.

Have you been in other cities to come to this conclusion?

I disagree with this.

My sister came to London as student and didn’t get student jobs for over 4 months, I had to relocate her to Liverpool where she got job the following week with a charity.

Liverpool region also called Merseyside is one of the largest region in England.

Liverpool is one of the easier city to get student jobs. I also know other cities aside “London and Manchester “ that’s easier to get jobs.

When we came as students some years ago, London was good and fast to get jobs but in the last 2 years it’s saturated and to get 20 hours is hard especially if you don’t drive, even the teaching assistant roles too it’s hard to get 20 hours this period. London is better for full time roles, but rent and transport will finish your money.

I stay in 3 bedroom with 2 toilets (family of 5) around Liverpool region and pay £650 per month, it’s a bit higher when you move into Liverpool but it’s still better and transport card per month is £72 that’s if you want to be going out almost every day of the week.

And if your goal is to stay longer in U.K. Liverpool is also one of the cities to get quickly on the property ladder as houses are cheap here.

Larger percentage of Nigeriand coming via student visa just want to Japa not neccessary school.
They intend to pay some percentage of school fees while work to pay. And also get sponsorship after school.
While all this was possible initially, right now everywhere is filled up as the government is known to sell immigration via various visa schemes. Getting sponsorship now is 99% impossible. With new visa schemes, bank HSBC and other companies had to withdraw employment given to new recruits thls week.

Coming without dependant is 100% impossible to foot your bills being a student now let alone paying school school fees.

Stop selling ur properties please please cry

So our people should know this, stop wasting money. We know Nigeria is hard but let's strategies elsewhere or put the money into businesses, farming etc than do the impossible
Still waiting for decision on my visa. But honestly I hope there won't be a decision until June 17 when enrollment closes in my school so I can get a refund. I've been having panic attacks since I read here about recent the present UK not so good for student visa. My school collected £5500 tuition deposit. After mailing them about not getting a decision yet on my visa, I was asked to enroll and start accessing online materials. At the point of doing so, I was asked to pay 50% of my tuition balance, £4975. I consulted a friend who advised I wait until the outcome of my visa because the school's refund policy is not on their website. The initial agreement is £5500 tuition deposit, 50% tuition balance at the beginning of the second semester and the balance of 50% tuition deposit at the beginning of the 3rd semester.
Honestly, I just want my money back. I will stay in Nigeria and go back to my poultry business and add mixed crop farming with my job at the hospital. If their immigration policies go back to being fair, I can think of going there if there are better opportunities

Did Nigerians protest last year?
Did Nigerians protest 2 years back?
Nigerians hardly default on fees it's the exchange rate that messed things up.

Previously before June 2023 with 6 million you have covered school fees 100% but now u need at least 22 million and above to cover fees. I'll need to pay #30M to cover 100% tuition fees. I've been thinking about what #30M can do for me in Nigeria

Please how much is your total fees?
And how much are you paying upon arriving?

If you have the complete fees or at least 70% then proceed as you have already started the move. Then when you arrive you do some training maybe in security, care, or any stuff and keep applying.

I would have loved to know the school names because some schools are understandable. They give you time to the last date of your end of program.

Honestly there is opportunity to work menial jobs and get cash once u are through with school and get ur post study visa because then u have full working right and u have knowledge of in and out of the country. How things work.

As for refund policy the school should have one and most schools refund if only visa was refused...
So let's keep praying your visa will be out.

It’s pure data, Greater Manchester is the second biggest economy in the UK. So statistically there would be more jobs, it’s that simple.

Thar someone you knew got or didn’t get jobs doesn’t invalidate that as that could be skewed by personal experiences.
