NiRfreak:Don't be deceived to tribalism is everywhere it's noticeable here because we are lumpef together by the Europeans ....All the tribes under the Roman empire are the current day British, Irish, Italians, Scots, Russians, French, Portuguese and they fought wars for many centuries in the course their survival had to invent ... The first and second world wars were tribal wars in Europe for Supremacy....In the Arab world Saudis aren't ascepting the Persian cum Iranians ... As long as there is a cultural divide ...Arabs aren't not ascepting Isreal |

Personal Opinion of X user; Obi Achebe has no need to be diplomatic with his origin, he owes no one no apology wether his people are considered second class ibos because they have migrated from across the Niger shouldn’t be his concern. I do appreciate the fact that he was courageous to do this as this will be preserved for unborn generations. Including the Eri, all moved from West to East. Yorubas and Igbos used to be one ethnic group or maybe clan in the dim period of human history, probably several thousands or even millions of years ago. But at some point, they partied ways. Igbo (meaning forest in Yoruba) didn't pop up from nowhere throughout Yorubaland. Those were Igbo clan residential areas, in fact, I've found Igbos everywhere all over Africa. Now, I am not saying that igbos came from Yorubas or that Yorubas came from Igbos. All I am saying is that they used to be one clan a very long time ago in human history. But they partied ways. It appears that Igbo's have always been travelers from time immemorial. I've traced them to Namibia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, etc. More details in my upcoming book: what is Satan? What is Lucifer? cyberstarr:They migrated from Ife to Benin, then settled in Onitsha, that's the major point. Onitsha is called Onitsha Ado n' Idu. You can only name a place after your ancestry. 3 Likes |

The Edos have paid their due in the past and so getting mad at them for this some purpose isn't right. You are not in a better place to tell the Obi his own history, his will always be the superior arguments. |

BadBradley: I'm reading their comments and asking myself if I should laugh or just enjoy the show , they are saying Onitsha call other Igbos "nwa onye Igbo" while ignoring the fact that our present-day Igbo ethnicity is a recent creation. I'm not saying it didn't exist but its definition is not the same as 200 years ago. Onitsha, Anioma, and other Igboid groups in present-day "Niger Delta" were under or paid tribute to the Benin empire for some time — it's literally obvious. Even my clan which is far away from Onitsha is called "umuchime." 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Obi of onitsha foes not even know his history properly He should go and do research properly he is passing misleading information Onitsha is never from benin or yoruba ...ok Rarliest onitsha indegine were some blend of igala fishermen and indigenous igbos ..maybe they left at some part of time to benin and yoriba land amd later came back to onitsha then other igbos from Aro amd nri may have settled with them to what ee see today 1 Like |

musicwriter:Eboes (See Olaudah Equiano) or Ibos... Present day now use Igbo for whatever reason is known to them. That they share the same Anglo-Latin letters does not connote the same thing. And it was done in the 1970s. I know why, but I won't say it. Igbó - Bush/forest (or weed). Tonal marks. It's different from the tribe's name. In Yorùbá's suffixation to towns, it describes a town situated in the forest. No correlation. And the bold is wrong. 1 Like |

Nonybb: And you believe that someone who is less than 90yrs old today was able to brainwash a whole ethnic group about their true ancestors? That it was a 30-yr old Gowon that brainwashed Ikwerre, Ibibio, Andoni, Ogoni etc to change their identity from being igbos, about 60yrs ago, actually sounds stupid 🙄 |

lol. ndi iro dun see divisive amusement park. ndi iro, bad news for una, - igbos are not divided, igbos aware of igbos, and Onitcha like every other nwafor area, is a blessed igbo area. Now, any wish is your right; As for me, the obi might be telling you his own story from the brainwashed version of his mind. igbos are not Benin. Igbos have huge areas in Edo state. Benin is igbo, yoruba, and others. we know that those unsettled minds in the south (west and around), are poking for holes in the unity, strength, and wisdom of the igbos. Well, na disappointment for una, because the igbos know the igbos very well. it is more than bond, we are spiritually gifted. Do you know how many onitsha people wey dun condemn una mumu talk. The igbos wey dey edo, the tribalist people there never send them, na onitsha cun dey dem eye. Una try. igbos are alert. No weapon fashioned against us shall prosper. 1 Like |

Re: Obi Of Onitsha Narrates Migration Of His Ancestors From Benin And Ife by Af0nja: 11:22am On May 25 |
NiRfreak: I get your point but it's just not possible that Onicha people came from Yoruba land. Onicha itself isn't the only town I ln Igbo land that has that name. This is common with Igbo towns, most towns share the same name as their parent town of origin. History tends to be repetitive, in our present setting, it is still the Easterners that migrate to the West to establish concentrated areas and not the other way around. Onicha is quite a new town so tracing it's history should be easy. It's just not possible for Yoruba to have found Onicha. There's no atom of Yorubaness in Onicha. Onicha isn't also the only Igbo town with a kingship system. Meanwhile. Earn Nogs when you prove your knowledge of Nigeria by playing the Naija Trivia Game by Nogfab.
