None of the Bible characters you mentioned are pastors

Compare them to Paul, Timothy, Stephen and others

And the op didn't say they will not, but "Hard" to make heaven, which is a fact

Genesis 20:7, God warns Abimelek:
“Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. ..“

Abraham was a Prophet. Can you read a little please and not jump into baseless arguments?

Rich Pastors and Christians will find it difficult making heaven !!!

Matthew 19:23-24
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Why did Jesus say this? Let’s look at the preceding verses?

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

18 “Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’

20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

This rich young man was a child of God faithfully keeping his commandments just like many Christians and Pastors today and he was so confident of his stance in God and asked Jesus what he could do to get eternal life!
When Jesus told him to sell ALL his properties and GIVE TO THE POOR and then follow him, he walked away Sad!

As a pastor or Christian flying private jets, driving expensive cars and living a life of luxury, Jesus is saying, Sell All and give to the poor and follow him! Jesus said to attain perfection and build treasure in heaven u must do this!
This appears difficult and unfair to rich Christians? The disciples thought so as well. Let’s see their reaction in the verses that followed:

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Jesus explained that it may look difficult naturally but with God’s help it is possible!

We can invariably conclude from the teachings of Christ here that if you are a pastor living a life of luxury, flying jets and helicopters and some of your members are poor , heaven will be difficult to make for you! These are words directly from the mouth of Jesus who will decide whether we make heaven! His words are superior to any prophet, king , preacher or apostle in the Bible or in contemporary times!

They are already in heaven and they know. Don't be deceived by their lies.

Oga you lack knowledge of the word of God, your preacher lied to you.
Poverty is the root cause of all this incase you don't know.
Abraham, Job, Solomon, David, The Wise Men that visited Jesus and even Jesus himself was not poor.
Bible recorded that he became poor that we will be rich.
He took sin upon himself to redeem mankind back to God.
No doubt some pastors and preachers abuse this prosperity but being rich does not mean one will go to hell.
I pray God gives your pastor the spiritual insight to be able to balance the scriptures and you also read your bible so you may understand it better.
Peace be unto you,
Such as I have, I give unto you.

It's ridiculous how you either twist the scripture to post a narrative that suits you or so ignorant of that God's word teaches.

That portion of scripture you quoted doesn't prove that God has a persona vendetta with wealthy people. Through scriptures, God had wealthy men.

Abraham, His friend, was wealthy.
Jacob was wealthy.
Joseph was wealthy.
David was wealthy.
Solomon was wealthy.
Job was wealthy.
Many many of God's people in the Old Testament were wealthy.

In the new testament, Joseph of Arimathea was wealthy.
Erastus was wealthy.
Barnabas was wealthy.
Many in the early church were rich!

Abusing a Bible verse to push a silly narrative would not suffice.

You can't build a doctrine on just one single passage, more so one single phrase which is misunderstood...

Mark 10:17-25
[17]And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
[18]And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
[19]Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
[20]And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
[21]Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
[22]And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
[23]And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
[24] And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!
[25]It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Apparently, the clarification here is what Mark supplies us. Jesus wasn't talking about the average rich man anywhere, but a rich man that trusts in His riches instead of trusting in God.

And that is a no-brainer. To trust in riches is to not trust in God. The Epistles also echo the same thought to rich Christians.

1 Timothy 6:17-18
[17]Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
[18]That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

God is not against wealth. Wealth is a useful tool for His work on earth OBVIOUSLY. What is against God is to allow money to take God's place. That's what Jesus and His Apostles addressed.

shelve the OP's Bible confusion

Have you taken time to follow the Confession of Benny Hinn for the past few years and one recently? If you have to use every gimmick(exact word of Benny Hinn) to extract money from believers, are you not trusting in money rather that God? Some of these pastors pay hugely to these foreign pastors just to tap there anounting, Pay for there hotel rooms not to be clean in order to tap there grace. Is that not the gospel of Simon Mongus(money for anointing)? Benny Hinn coursin said they needed those money to fund their expensive life style. A pastor in Nigeria said he was denied from seeing benny hinn in his hotel, but when he mentioned the money he brought(about $700,000), they gave him express permission. Most of these pastors in Nigera are using Pastor Hinn style or sometimes they invite him to do it for them and they split the spoil. I pray that they will all come to the knowledge of the Truth.

In my view you don't necessarily need to sell all your properties, what if after selling all your wealth you become poor and start stealing, will you make it to heaven? The thing is use your wealth to help the poor and not to oppress them

OP, today na Sunday oo, make we no quarrell oo. Which kain talk be this nah? Pls stop misquoting the bible.

I've not owned a private jet yet and I crave one. If its in the Lords plan for my life, I'd own one, definitely. Pastor Adeboye owns a jet and a copter but for outreach and evangelism purposes, not as a luxury. There was a time he told the church to sell the copter cos of the running cost, which they'd have put to use elsewhere but they refused. They said he needed it most. Someone like him who would be invited for a programme on all continents almost same time and would still conduct the mandatory monthly holy ghost service back home. How would these engagements have been possible without a private jet, can you tell? By the time he flies a commercial plane 2 times and he wasted almost a whole day on layovers, he'd barely be able to keep 2 appointments in one week out of their branches spread across the length and breath of the planet earth.

In his case, a private jet is a necessity. He can do European trips in less than one week. He can travel at his own pace and time without any hindrances.

I just like this man of God. He's one of those contributing immensely to our economy but via religious means, silently. He's the largest employer of labour in Nigeria with each church having at least one pastor globally. Each church also employs some workers too..gardeners, gatemen, security men, etc. In each Congress which draws over 10m members from across the globe, each visitor must bring in dollar or euro.

They bring the money into Nigeria and exchange it to Naira to spend locally. They barely go back with the dollar. Yet, one yeye politician would be saying church must be run as a business centre where they'd be paying taxes. All the hospitals pastor adeboye had spent billions of naira equipping nko? No federal government has that financial muscle. I don't want to even talk about those he's feeding free of charge. His school feeding programme surpasses what the federal government is taking fake glory over, all the time yet, he doesn't make noise about it. He constructed a federal road without making noise, which the contractor under fashola claimed he tarred and took that glory. He rehabilitates prison yards and feeds prisoners, etc. OP, you didn't see any of these before rushing to misquote those bible verses abi? Na only jet you dey see smiley

So, if a man of God is flying a jet cos of necessity as highlighted above, he'd make heaven oga OP. Leave God to judge everyone individually. Tnx

EARLY BELIEVERS WERE SO MUCH IN THE SPIRIT AND HAVING NO INTEREST IN THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD, THEY SOLD THEIR LANDS ETC AND BROUGHT THE PROCEEDS INTO THE CHURCH AND THEY HAD ALL THINGS IN COMMON. THE MODERN CROOKS TODAY CALLED PASTORS ARE OPPOSITE OF THOSE EARLY BELIEVERS AS THEIR MAIN DRIVE IS MONEY AND WEALTH ACQUISITION. GOD IS THE GOD OF JUSTICE, NOT INJUSTICE AND IT WILL MEAN INJUSTICE FOR GOD TO LET ADEBOYE, KUMUYE, DAVID MOUKA, OGBUELIE,, THAT THIEF IN WINNERS, AND MODERN MICHEAL JACKSON CHRIS OYAKILOME ETC INTO HEAVEN WITH THE WEALTH THEY STOLE FROM THEIR CONGREGATIONS, IF THEY DONT SELL OFF THOSE THINGS AND RETURN THEIR PROCEEDS INTO THEIR CHURCHES FOR THE WELFARE OF THEIR MEMBERS.

Neither you nor the OP is wrong. You could have thanked him for trying to pass a good message, then make what he said better and more correct.

He wasn't wrong in drawing the conclusion that being rich makes it harder to get into the kingdom of heaven. He, however, made the mistake of confusing correlation with causation.
Like you rightly said, it's not being rich that makes heaven difficult, it's what comes with being rich.

Don't make assumption of people's intentions. Give them the benefit of doubt. If he is so ignorant, then your role is to correct them with kindness.

And God knows best

None of the Bible characters you mentioned are pastors

Compare them to Paul, Timothy, Stephen and others

And the op didn't say they will not, but "Hard" to make heaven, which is a fact

Like I said, that's not what the Bible teaches.

Bible teaches salvation by faith. The man who trusts in His riches would find it hard to find faith. Not the one who trusts in God.

The problem is not money. But the trust in it. It's the same way even someone who isn't rich trusts in some other system or another instead of God. That's the message. To trust God and not things. Not about having or not having riches.

Poverty does not qualify you for heaven. .

Neither does riches or wealth qualify you for heaven. .

That is the truth.

It is how healthy your heart is with God that matters, and so far it does not idolize anything above the word of God.

One way to serve God is not to build doctrine on men's experiences or "confessions." Benny Hinn's story is not God's Word. So you can't build on it as doctrine.

Now, the Bible teaches against greed, deceit, and covetousness. But the Bible doesn't say having money legitimately (without greed, deceit, and covetousness) is bad. I believe that should do.

In my view you don't necessarily need to sell all your properties, what if after selling all your wealth you become poor and start stealing, will you make it to heaven? The thing is use your wealth to help the poor and not to oppress them

These things require deeper understanding, you're correct.

Jesus was probably not suggesting that everyone sell their riches to enter into heaven.
He might have been making a point that if this person claimed to value his advise and believed him to be a man of god whom he was willing to follow, then why wouldn't he follow up on this difficult task?
Thus exposing the weakness in the man's character, which may not have been immediately obvious since he was indeed doing all these other good things.

There's also what has already been mentioned about how the pursuit of wealth is almost always a distraction from the love of God, to the effect of not being able to serve two masters: your own desires and God's will.
So, in the end, the pursuit of wealth falls into the same category as many of the other ways in which men worship their own desires, whilst appearing to do the right thing. And it is that polytheistic trait that leads to condemnation.

So, don't literally sell all your wealth. Rather, accept that god gives wealth to whom he pleases. Make money the honest way and don't allow it's pursuit to lead you to cheating your workers or other people around you. And whatever you make honestly, be generous to others. Give what you reasonably can, and always remember a day when someone will walk into your house and take your possessions and you can do nothing about it because you're dead and in the ground.

These names you called were just like Dangote and Otedola of today,...they didnt use Church money.

Taking Church money to buy a jet worth $10m or more?

I don't know where you see those that "take church money" to buy jet. But those ministers I know with jet in Nigeria, the church bought it as an organisation. And it's for church ministry work.

Guess what, those whose monies are involved in the purchase are not complaining.

My brother, I like your zeal but you're focusing on the wrong things. Matter of fact, you shouldn't try to be addressing pastors at this stage of your development in Christ.
You are still a babe and shouldn't be grappling with strong meat. I say this because of how ignorantly you interprete the word of God and pass judgment out of your misaligned flesh.

Take it easy. Sit down. Be quiet. Learn. Share the word of God to sinners but refrain from addressing elders in the faith. You lack the knowledge of the word, the wisdom of the Spirit and the stature to embark on this exercise.

The call of God is not a call unto penury!

Shalom!
