*Press Release* *Date: May 25, 2024* *APC Call for Cancellation of Continuous Voters Registration Exercise in Edo State* The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State calls for the cancellation of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to kick off in our state, this Monday May 26, 2024. The several compelling reasons behind our call for the cancellation of the CVR exercise in Edo State are as follows: *1. Compromised INEC Officials:* We have received credible intelligence indicating that certain officials within the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been compromised and are colluding with the outgoing Edo State government to manipulate the voter registration process in favor of the Peoplesโ Democratic Party (PDP). *2. Deployment of Biased Ad Hoc Staff:* The decision by Governor Godwin Obaseki to deploy Edo teachers, civil servants, as well as members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as ad hoc staff for the CVR exercise is unacceptable to us. These personnel have been compromised to favor the PDP. *3. Manipulation of Voter Registration Data:* We have reports that the outgoing Governor Obaseki and his associates are actively engaged in efforts to manipulate voter registration data to inflate the voters register in favor of the PDP. This includes attempts to register underage voters and transfer voters from neighboring states, like Delta, Lagos, Ondo and others to distort the Voters Register and disenfranchising legitimate voters on election day. *4. Extensive damage to the INEC premises* The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Edo State, has officially alerted the public of the unprecedented damage inflicted upon its facilities and equipment (especially the IVED as a result of heavy rainfall on Friday night, when a torrential downpour hit Benin City, resulting in severe flooding and damage to the Commission's perimeter fence with the resultant destroyed, submerging of sensitive materials in floodwater. INEC REC confirmed that all offices located downstairs of the building, including the crucial ICT building, were completely inundated. The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, himself has rightfully acknowledged that the INEC Benin City headquarters has suffered significant damage to its functionality, as a result. The Commission cannot therefore pretend to be determined to ensure that the CVR exercise proceeds as scheduled. This is unacceptable to us as an interested party. We reject the planned use of the Ikpoba Okha INEC LGA office located at 16 Customs Road, off Benin/Auchi Road, Benin City as temporary "State Headquarters" for the Commission so the CVR can go on. We also condemn the plan of bringing in additional machines from neighboring states including Delta and Bayelsa. These are all premedidated and only confirms our earlier position that the Edo State PDP chairman, Mr. Tony Aziegbemi has hired his wife, (former Mrs. Annette Umeh) who is a Director in INEC's Bayelsa ICT office to pre-fill names in the data capturing machine. In the existing circumstances, we believe the wise option for INEC is the immediate cancellation of the CVR exercise and prioritize the safety and well-being of its staff and the general public more than anything else. INEC must address the aftermath of the flooding squarely and restore its operations to full functionality before resuming any electoral activities. This is our demand. Any attempt to proceed with the CVR exercise under current conditions would not only jeopardize the integrity of the voter registration process but also undermine the trust and confidence of the Edo electorate in the electoral system. We demand to be heard. Mr. Jarret Tenebe Acting State Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo State Chapter Mynd44 Nplfmod Fergie001 Seun Aswani Jorussia Indispensable85 Kedeojo Validated |

When the APC begins to raise this kind of false alarm, know that behind the false alarm, they are neck deep into what they are accusing others of doing. |

Useless Party with a very incompetent candidate. Instead of mobilizing voters as other parties are doing they want the CVR to be cancelled because they know they don't have anything to campaign with. |

senatordave1:Can you give us the details of the INEC equipment that got damaged by the flood so that we can independently verify whether the INEC has the capacity to carry on with the exercise? |

Great2017: The state inec chairman already released a press conference to that effect detailing the damages and said replacement would be sought from neighbouring states instead of abuja.research on net yourself to confirm |

Chinjo2: Is it true that Asue isn't a registered voter in Edo? Why where you guys pressuring inec to conduct cvr when there's no time for that? Is it not obvious that you guys have lost but are desperate |
Re: Edo 2024: Edo APC Calls For Cancellation Of Continuous Voters Registration by Chinjo2: 7:15pm On May 26 |
Whenever you see APC raising alarm, just know that they are sure of defeat. They are just trying to justify it. You presented an incompetent candidate and you are blaming PDP. A candidate that went to Maryland USA and said there were no animals in the Museum contested by Obaseki. A Governorship candidate does not know the difference between a museum and a Zoo. |
Re: Edo 2024: Edo APC Calls For Cancellation Of Continuous Voters Registration by Chinjo2: 7:17pm On May 26 |
senatordave1: Not true. Asue has been in the background for over 16 years now. He was economic adviser to Oshiomhole for 8 years and head of Alaghodaro Summit under Obaseki for over seven years. Asue has his business in Lagos for over 30 years. He registered as a voter in Lagos until Oshiomhole brought him to Benin to head his economic team. It only make sense that such a person should transfer his polling unit to Edo state. Osibanjo, Aregbesola, james faleke and Lai Muhammed are all Politicians playing Politics in Lagos despite being from ogun, osun, Kogi and kwara states respectively. Osibanjo was vice president for 8 years without voting in his home state of ogun. He only transfered his polling unit to ogun few months before contesting presidential primaries and people never raised an eye brow. |

Chinjo2: Better than a candidate that says he works 9 days a week or would support the foolish stance and policies of obaseki. APC are only raising alarm because of two things firstly, they have unearthed the plans of pdp to inflate votes in Benin and register underage voters.will you deny that obaseki was caught on video calling for underage registration.secondly, the alarm is to put people on notice so that when they counter pdp,it must be known that pdp started the dirty politics.... A divided pdp can never win a united APC.the battle is over sir 1 Like |

Re: Edo 2024: Edo APC Calls For Cancellation Of Continuous Voters Registration by senatordave1(m): 8:36am On May 27 |
slivertongue: It is not wrong but the time is too short.apc raised legitimate concerns which are very serious.the wife of the pdp chair is an inec ict staff while the state inec chair has already ordered for additional machines from neighbouring states already as APC alleged |
Re: Edo 2024: Edo APC Calls For Cancellation Of Continuous Voters Registration by slivertongue: 8:49am On May 27 |
senatordave1: APC should just be vigilant and see that the right things are done. But calling off the CVR shouldn't be entertained. |
Re: Edo 2024: Edo APC Calls For Cancellation Of Continuous Voters Registration by senatordave1(m): 8:53am On May 27 |
slivertongue: They are not calling it off totally but postponing it for a week or two for inec to sort things out like the flooded office, getting additional machines from Abuja, making sure Mrs aziegbemi has no business with the cvr |
