Amedino99: The biggest blunder any Super Eagles coach will make us forcing Boniface into a lineup that includes Osimhen. Osimhen/Boniface or Osimhen/Awoniyi doesn't work, previous trials have proven that. Maybe it could work in the future with the right coach, but right now, one of them has to come in from the bench. |

I just hope Chuks can rediscover his AFCON 2019 form....the attacking Trident should look more like. Lookman......Osimhen/Boni/Awo....Chuks |

Napoleon55: If I need a finisher, I won't pick Yaya Toure ahead of Onuachu. If I need a deep lying playmaker or box to box midfielder, or someone that offers both, I will pick Yaya Toure. I am eager to know your position. |

Mikel started that tournament in the 2nd game from the bench replacing Oruma. Since that Afcon debut where Mikel and Kanu changed the dynamics of the game vs the warriors, Mikel didn't return to the bench. Oruma did and Obodo followed after the 3rd game vs Senegal. So to answer your wondering... Obodo was dropped to accommodate Mikel in midfield alongside a more defensive and Combative Ayila who has proven himself in the UCL vs Real Madrid and also allow an Nsofor/Utaka wing combo flanking the twin strike force of Martins and Makinwa. The Martins/Makinwa duo didn't click so good vs Tunisia anyway. chrisooblog: |

Thanks doc you've answered my question somewhat what. in the end Equavoen went for his usual attacking 4-4-2. A midfield of Ayila/Kaita, Mikel, and Obodo/Oruma would have given us better control in the middle of the park. Like you rightly noted we needed a proper target man to partner Martins. Yakubu who would have been ideal had issues with Cicero so didn't come for the 2006 AFCON. TheSuperNerd: |

Joezinho:When he is not Ahmed Musa His name was in the 2024 Afcon provisional list Seems like you didn’t know there was a time onuachu’s name was omitted Look, any player that picks form could be called up When even Semi Ajayi a championship player who has been on the bench lately gets called 1 Like |

My only question is have we tried the two Victors enough in a 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 setup? I'm hesitant to believe Osimhen and Boniface can't function in the same attacking lineup. lovewins: |

Boni has been primarily positioned as a winger or second striker (SS) throughout his footballing career. This season (23/24) marks the first time he's been played as a central forward (top 9). Nobody is forcing him to play from the wing, he is a winger primarily! Amedino99: |

Nobody rate Olofijana in the Super Eagles jersey! The clubs he played for were average at best. My position still stands-- both Olofijana and Kaita were average at best! No distinct quality one has over the other! I know you have soft spot for him cos he played for Kwara United. He is my guy too but the truth remains, he wasn't exceptional and Nigeria fan base doesn't really fancy him! Olise led us to our first AFCON in 14 years. Took us to another AFCON final despite suffering from malaria! A mistake by him can be forgiven! Kog45: |

Amedino99:3-4-1-2, he can play behind Osimhen and Lookman but Iwobi will be on the bench or 4-3-1-2 with Iwobi either on the bench or playing box to box |

Osimhen out, replaced by Enugu Rangers LB Kenneth Igbokwe. Looks like Finidi is ready to stake is Super Eagles coaching career on NPFL players. Really do hope they come to the party for him. 4 Likes

Meliforme: I saw differently. The result of the combination was average at best. Also, if that is what they could come up with considering the level of opposition, how do you expect them to fair against way stronger opponents? |
