A Federal High Court in Kano has ordered the eviction of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from the Kofar Kudu Palace, while a State High Court has restrained the police and other security agencies from carrying out the eviction order.

The Federal Court had, on Tuesday, ordered the police to ensure all rights and privileges due to the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero be given to him, as the rightful Emir of Kano.

The presiding judge, Justice S. A. Amobeda, who gave the ex parte order, stated that the order was made in the interest of justice and maintenance of peace in Kano State.

The order states, “An order of interim injunction restraining the respondents either by themselves, their agents, servants, privies or any other person or authority from inviting, arresting, detaining, threatening, intimidating, harassing the applicant, raiding, tempering with or visiting the applicant’s in order to arrest or infringe on his right or in any other way infringe or attempt to infringe the applicant’s rights pending the hearing and determination of the originating motion.

“An order restraining the third, fourth and fifth respondents and all other respondents from denying the applicant to use his official residence and palace at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu as well as enjoyment of all rights and privileges accrued to him by virtue of being Emir of Kano State and to evicting anything, anybody residing within the palace illegally pending the hearing and the determination of the originating summons”

The suit has been adjourned till June 4 for a hearing.

But a State High Court sitting at Miller Road restrained the police, the Department of State Services and the military from evicting the reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The case was filed by Muhammadu Sanusi II with the four kingmakers of Kano: Madakin Kano, Yusuf Nabahani; Makaman Kano Ibrahim Sarki Abdullahi; Sarkin Bai Mansur Adnan and Sarkin Dawaki Maituta Bello Tuta.

The presiding judge, Justice Amina Aliyu, also restrained the security agencies from arresting or harassing the emir and his kingmakers.

The judge held “that an order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the respondents either by themselves, their agents, privies, representative, and assigns from further harassing, intimidating, inviting, arresting and or invading the personal or official residence of the applicants (Gidan Rumfa), his servants and or any of the Kano Emirate kingmakers of doing such acts that would be capable of interfering with the applicants’ rights generally in relation to this suit pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

“That an order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the respondents from attempting to hijack, pick, commandeer, confiscate any of twin spear of authority, the Royal Hat of Dabo, the Ostrich-feathered shoes, the knife and sword of the Emir of Kano as well as symbols of authority pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.”

It further ordered that the respondents be restrained from interfering with the functions, and duties of the first pplicant as the Emir of Kano pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice dated May 28, 2024..

Court order and counter court order flying everywhere yet same jurisdiction. I always laugh so hard when I remember that we were once interested in enforcing constitutional order in Niger Republic.

Gandollar needs to be dealt with. A contest for a traditional stool have became a butt of tragicomical joke in the courts of the land. Gandollar didn't listened to the courts when he was bastardizing the sacred state of the Kano emirship due to political vendetta beclouding his sense of sound judgement.

Sanusi was unjustly removed from his throne.

The corrupt political administration in Kano, however, had their plans. They saw in Emir Ado Bayero a figure who would not stand against their corrupt practices.

Emir Ado Bayero could have spoken out against the injustice faced by Emir Sanusi, but his very selection as a replacement was due to his compliance with the corrupt powers that be. They could Balkanize the kingdom of his fathers all they want, so far they give him a title.

Yes, Emir Ado Bayero is a mere puppet, and he is still being manipulated by those who placed him on the throne. I repeat, even now the puppeteers continue to pull his strings. Initially, he was willing to step aside quietly, but the Ganduje corrupt establishment emboldened him to resist, even if it meant plunging Kano into chaos and inciting violence among brothers.

But Justice must be restored, and Emir Sanusi needed to be reinstated.

But the state governor in his quest to correct one injustice, should not commit another.

Instead of deposing Emir Ado Bayero, they could have invited him to abdicate.

In doing so, Ado Bayero would retire as Emir but retain his influence and dignity, not as a subordinate to Emir Sanusi but as an Emeritus Emir, and he would be revered throughout the state and across Nigeria.

He could have welcomed Emir Sanusi back to Kano and become a legend. But Ado Bayero, I repeat, is not in the business of care for the traditional institution of Kano nor its people; his concern is solely with power. And for that, those pulling his string can continue to reign most supreme.

If the strings of Emir Sanusi were so pulled by orchestrators of chaos , hoping to benefit from anarchy. This would have been an opportunity for Mustapha to rape Esther, and for the remaining churches in Kano to be burnt and for some corrupt security officials to make their billions. But of coz, Kano is not Sokoto or Zamfara and the strings of Emir Sanusi is not easily pulled.

But when Sanusi was dethroned we didn’t see all these. As it is anyone can approach the court to challenge bills passed by the legislature & obtain an order restraining the implementation of a bill or any bill that has been signed into law by the executive. Interesting times ahead. Lawyers please lecture us let’s know

Gandollar needs to be dealt with. A contest for a traditional stool have became a butt of tragicomical joke in the courts of the land. Gandollar didn't listened to the courts when he was bastardizing the sacred state of the Kano emirship due to political vendetta becoming his sense of sound judgement.

It started with Kwakwanso (when he was APC governor of Kano). The original heir to the throne was not even Emir Lamido Sanusi or Emir Aminu Bayero to begin with. The original heat was Sanusi Bayero, elder brother of Emir Aminu Bayero 👇

The roots of this conflict date back to the reign of the late Emir Ado Bayero, who had designated his eldest son, Sanusi Bayero (Ciroma), as his successor before his passing in 2014. The emirate council had already groomed Sanusi Bayero to take the throne, but something strange happened. Lamido Sanusi, who was recently ousted as CBN Chairman by the Jonathan administration, was unexpectedly appointed Emir of Kano by his friend, Governor Kwankwaso, in a shocking turn of events. This move led to Sanusi Bayero (Ciroma) leaving Kano in exile, fueling a long-standing family feud. He vows never to bow to his nephew, a move that strips him of his caliphate honors

-----------------------------------------------------------
To those confused on how the two Emir's are related.

The deposed Emir Aminu Bayero is an Uncle to Emir Lamido Sanusi even though they are age mates. Emir Lamido Sanusi is a few months older.

- Emir Lamido Sanusi is a nephew to the deposed Emir Aminu Bayero.
- Emir Aminu Bayero's paternal grandfather is Emir Lamido Sanusi's paternal great grandfather.
- Emir Lamido Sanusi is also married to the deposed Emir's younger sister (Princess Sadiya Bayero)

A federal high court is giving orders on an issue it has no jurisdiction on and some lawyers are saying it should be obeyed but another court who has jurisdiction is giving an order yet the same lawyers are saying it should be disregarded.

What an arant nonsense and political buhaha!!!

It's a state matter and the federal high court has no jurisdiction. Gandollar rest! It's a law that was repealed by the legislature & asserted to by the governor. Take the matter to state high court first, then federal. Untill that, status quo remains
