⚡Putin: "Constant escalation can lead to serious consequences," Putin told reporters in Tashkent in Uzbekistan. "If these serious consequences occur in Europe, how will the United States behave, bearing in mind our parity in the field of strategic weapons?" "It's hard to say - do they want a global conflict?" Sending French troops to Ukraine would also be a step towards global conflict and that smaller countries considering deeper involvement "should be aware of what they are playing with" as they have small land areas and dense populations. "This is a factor that they should keep in mind before talking about striking deep into Russian territory. This is a serious thing, and we are of course watching it very closely," Putin said. 14 Likes 1 Share

⚡Former spy chief Dick Schoof has been chosen as the next prime minister of the Netherlands, to lead a populist coalition government that includes the far right. Schoof, 67, who led the Dutch intelligence service AIVD until 2020, was nominated by far-right Freedom party (PVV) leader Geert Wilders and approved by his coalition partners on Tuesday. “I especially want to be a prime minister for all Dutch people,” he told a press conference in The Hague. “I have always felt involved in the governance of our country and have always wanted to play my part in it.” Wilders described Schoof as “non-partisan”, having integrity and being “very sympathetic”.

⚡Ukraine should be allowed to ‘neutralise’ Russian military bases: Macron Kyiv should be allowed to “neutralise” Russian military bases from where Moscow troops are firing missiles into Ukraine, France’s President Emmanuel Macron said Tuesday. “We think that we should allow them to neutralise military sites where missiles are fired, from where Ukraine is attacked,” said Macron, stressing however that “we should not allow them to touch other targets in Russia, and obviously civilian capacities”.

⚡The $320m U.S. built temporary pier that had been used to deliver additional humanitarian aid into Gaza was damaged by rough seas and has temporarily suspended operations, three U.S. officials told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The Joint Logistics Over The Shore, or JLOTS, pier only began operations last week and had provided an additional way to get critically needed food to Gaza. The setback is the latest for the pier, which has already had three U.S. service member injuries and had four if its vessels beached due to heavy sea states.

⚡India's Reliance Industries operator of the world's biggest refining complex and owned by Asia's richest man Mukesh Ambani, has signed a one-year deal with Russia's Rosneft to buy at least 3 million barrels of oil a month in roubles, four sources aware of the matter told Reuters. The shift to rouble payments follows Russian President Vladimir Putin's push for Moscow and its trading partners to find alternatives to the Western financial system to facilitate trade despite U.S. and European sanctions. A term deal with Rosneft also helps privately run Reliance to secure oil at discounted rates at a time when the OPEC+ group of oil producers is expected to extend voluntary supply cuts beyond June. The OPEC+ group comprising the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and allies including Russia is due to discuss the output cuts in an online meeting on June 2. India, the world's third-biggest oil importer and consumer, has become the biggest buyer of seaborne Russian crude. 4 Likes

⚡"Ukraine must not shoot back against Putin" - Bild Ukraine has used the German Patriot air defense system at least once against Russian jets flying over Russian airspace, in violation of agreements with Western countries. The response from Berlin and Washington was swift and severe, with angry calls and a threat to halt the supply of air defense missiles if such incidents are repeated. So: Ukraine must wait until Russian bombers release their cruise missiles and these missiles are over Ukrainian territory before engaging them. 2 Likes
