Guardolia deserves NOTHING. undecided

Couldn't beat Chelsea home and Away.
Couldn't beat Liverpool home and Away.
Couldn't beat Arsenal home and Away.
Lost to Man Utd in the FA cup final. sad

Either Arteta or Unai Emery of Aston Villa deserves it. smiley

Totally correct. Plus he failed to win the champions league and FA cup this season when he had won both in 2022-20223 season, along with winning the Premiership, to clear the treble last year.

Judges will adjudge Gaurdiola as having a poorer 2023-2024 season, with one trophy, than his 2022-2023 season when he won three trophies including the very special Champions league. He does not deserve it.

I'd have picked Unai Emery. Aston Villa being 4th ahead of bigger clubs is a huge achievement.

Are these the criteria for the best coach in the premier league? grin
Good thing that the organizers themselves, the Premier League, has already awarded him the Premier League Manager of the Year award.
No doubt the "best coach" award from whoever to Arteta is more of a consolation price, even though Guardiola is still the one who should have won it having won the trophy itself and 4 in a row now. Not considering the fact that at a time Man City was even close to mid table while Arsenal was perching comfortably at the top

And Arteta won all these?
You may not realise this, but you're actually comparing Guardiola against Guardiola and not making any case for Arteta as you may think.

People forget that Guardiola lost two very key players in Gundogan and Mahrez this season.

In the mind of the those awarding the honour, Guardiola did not better himself, achievement wise, above what his coaching delivered the previous season, while Arteta did because Arsenal broke many personal records.

Guardiola has won the EPL 6 out of 7 seasons in a row so how does winning it again signify him best coach? Best Coaches should raise standard and make footballing gains not reached before.

Not an excuse in modern football and for very wealthy clubs like Man City. They replaced Aguero who was one of the greatest strikers in the EPL and continued winning the Premiership.

Very big, powerful and rich clubs can attract the best players to replace outgoing players however talented.

In reality, it does not work like that because the player must go through grooming to fit into the tactics. Also, when a good fit goes, who ever you are getting is not as good as the person going. If he was that good or better, he would have been the pick.

It takes time and grooming to get a player to fit. So, Guardiola losing key players, and still getting far in the Champions League, FA Cup final and winning the EPL shows how good he is and why he was really the best coach in the just concluded EPL season.

You can't just go and buy a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne or Rodri. Or just go and buy a replacement for Haaland. No matter how much you have.

Best coach is the best coach for the season. Who was the best coach. Not who raised his personal level.

I understand your explanation, and I agree that may be what went through the minds of the organisers also.
But I find fault with the logic in that I believe it is sentimental rather than objective.
It is like saying that because a student has been consistently scoring 98/100 in previous exams, he shouldn't be awarded first position now that he is scoring 92/100. Instead the first position should go to the student who has been consistently failing in previous exams (45/100) but has now scored (75/100) in this particular exam.

My point is, you can find ways to reward the efforts of others who have done remarkably well without robbing those who have undisputed claim to the trophy

I see your point too. I have to add also that I personally believe Guardiola is the greatest football coach in the history of the EPL and one of the greatest coaches in universal football ever.

His four EPL title , back to back, will not be surpassed in our lifetime IMO.

I just feel that it can be interpreted that Arteta achieved more and beyond his delivery last year than Gaurdiola did.

Guardiola is a Genius and you may be right that some of us, including the judges who gave the award to Arteta, are comparing Guardiola to Guardiola because he is simply that good.
