A country where the laws are used for the common people as a sledge hammer while those politicians and their cronies who stole our common wealth are pampered by same laws.

Nigerian judiciary, we hail thee oo

50k fine option. She won't go to jail. Period

But she is losing all her N900k. That is like 950k fine. These are serious punishments for the poor. Nigeria force and court don’t sentence the rich. Bello has still not be arrested. Please be fair in operating the law across board!

Fighting the wrong direction that's nigeria for you. Did the lady steal the money from the bank? She bought it, this means the sellers and bank insiders should be arrested too. This is not how to stop money racketeering. Look for the big fish (your friends) and arrest them if you can.

The law stipulates that even if an option of fine is paid, such individual is an ex-convict and certian rights might be denied when needed.

Why do Nigerians generally like to get involved in illegal things.

To the extent that illegality would be normalized.

Just look at the FX market, in a saner climate so many people would be behind bars. Yet to a typical Nigerian anything goes just to make profit

Lawyers don't know there job,

Someone made this statement up there, I let it slide. Here you are repeating the same thing. Who compares currency sale at a public event to cash withdrawal from your own account via POS? You mean you cannot spot the difference? Her offence is selling money which will be used by party goers to spray, an action deemed unlawful. She is not only in violation, she is also enabling another violation of our currency.

POS operators are banking services closer home. It's institutionalized. Like banks, they open to make profits. Some of you who complain about charges, have you considered transportation fare you incur if you were to go to and fro the bank? Please don't compare selling the Naira like garri to someone doing simple banking business using their cards with POS vendor. I beg you. sad

. Adeyinka Biliks was arrested for currency racketeering . She is a Yoruba woman!
The Hausas who sell dollars in Nigeria are operating easily. Where do they get dollars? Does our constitution allow dollar market?
Would Buhari open his eyes and allow a Hausa man be jailed for dealing with dollars?
Before you accuse Tinubu of favoritism, think well oo!

Both sell the same naira at an extra percentage cost to be beared by the buyer, true or false?
She was not accused of spraying money at a party,
They both get there cash from bank officials who are meant to pay us customers in bank this cash,
You won't find any bank ATM working at this period, and if you do,you are limited to 5k withdrawal.
All because they are supplying the cash to pos operators,

So read your statement again,

POS operators are guilty as charged as her.

In the case of pos operation providing banking services close to home,

Did the banks tell you they are fed up of providing such service?
Did they legally annouce that micro banking services have not been handed over to POS people?

So what is the difference btwn selling brand new notes at a percentage to be paid by the buyer
And selling old notes?

Six month?

What is the difference between this and those who are selling naira via POS? They even go as far as over charging people of what was freely collected from the ATM, making life more difficult for people who want to use the ATM, because by the time most people get to the ATM, POS people would have collected all the money..

Even when the CBN law state that selling Nigeria note is prohibited..

Alot of things need to be done in this country, you can imagine after sweating to earn my money, I will still have to sweat to collect it and even buy it

POS attendants or operators do not display currency as article of trade. They only charges you for services rendered and of course you have the right to either withdraw your money via ATM machine or across the bank counter.

Is it that you lack comprehension or you are sympathetic LP and PDP agents?
Is POS - not established by the Law and pass under an Act of Parliament?
Is it not traceable for all POS agents?
-Which law is established her to be bringing New Money to parties?
No wander,Nigerians hardly get New Money, even from the ATM,long time ago.
Just wait, for the Law to catch you, those nonsense that you spewed on the Nairaland Forum will give you New Sense in the Court!

Too much injustice going on. A whole lot of these women that do it are usually old, mostly unlearned. How many of them even know it's a crime? If there is no demand for new crispy notes there won't be supply.

The judgment delivered to her is steep. I think that an option of 50k is fine but collecting the money from her is not nice. The judge should have reprimanded her since she is a first-time offender.

The judge has hurt her means of survival in these harsh economy. I think she is trying to survive however her action is unlawful anyway
