Hello guys, how do I go about my documents? I am already in Brazil, but the documents (birth certificates, marriage certificate and police CC) were not authenticated at the Brazilian embassy, they were only legalised at ministry of foreign affairs. What to do? I am applying for the permanent residency.

You don't need to authenticate them at the Brazilian embassy in Nigeria. You can translate and authenticate your Police Character at the Nigerian embassy here and also apply for consulate letter there. That's all the document you need from Nigeria asides your passport. The other documents are Brazilian docs. There's an NGO that can assist you if you're still having difficulty.

thank you so much! This so good to hear. Can you give guidelines on how to contact the embassy or how to sent the documents to them? What is the name of the NGO?

They say Brazilians are so nice that they would leave what they are doing to help a total stranger, I never knew their niceness reach this level.

Brazilians are indeed very nice. The government is a reflection of it's people, very generous and accommodating. However, an average Brazilian does not play with their money o. I'm surprised he said a Brazilian paid his bills because that's rare. A Brazilian can help you with everything but if it's money, it's a different ballgame.

On the flip side, they don't expect you to just dash them money, they are usually surprised, taken aback and very grateful when you do.

Uber drivers will count coins to make sure your change is complete, they also won't let go of their 10 cents and say leave it. If you don't have, when you log back in the app you'll meet your debt there😂

There is a liaison office here in São Paulo where you'll fill the form and submit your PC. You can also send the PC to the embassy yourself after filling the form. The man there will advise you accordingly. You'll pay processing and courier fees. I can't paste his phone number here but I'll describe his office.

Go to Galaria Sete D'abril, Republica. Go upstairs and ask for Mr Ifeanyi. There is a Nigerian woman that sells food on the same floor, if you find her first you can ask her for his office.

After you send it, make sure to follow up with the embassy. Their phone number is on the Embassy's Google page and they respond will.

How about certification from the Foreign Affairs Commission in Nigeria or just take it to Brazil directly from the police?

When we do Police character, they usually do the certification with it. I recently had one done at Alagbon and it came with the certification. Paid 70k. I assume it's like that for everyone?

Like someone mentioned, you have to consider your limitation date for traveling especially if you are flying Qatar. I advise people not to fly Qatar because they are very problematic. If you have already booked them, dress smart and get a doctor's report.

If you're flying any other airline, you'll be fine.

Once you get to Brazil, you don't have a problem. They are not concerned about you giving birth here as long as you have a valid visa. They usually do not ask questions but if they do it would be regarding your itinerary and accommodation.

Regarding hospitals, the difference between Private and Public hospitals is comfort really. In a private hospital, you get a room to yourself and it's more conducive than what you have in Public hospitals. The medical services are pretty much the same. This is not to say public hospitals are not conducive, they are but you get to share room with others.

In private hospitals, communication might be easier because you'll find English speaking doctors. You may find them in public hospitals too especially if it's a teaching hospital.

Regarding C-sections, the rumor is that private hospital easily opt for C-sections because it's easier and less time consuming. The truth is C-section is quite common in Brazil, I know some of us who have birthed here and most of us had C-section. The rule in Public hospitals is that if you are fine with no medical complications, they will not do C-section for you except you don't go into labor at 41 weeks. They also opt for C-section if you have been in labor for a long time. I experienced both.
I also know ppl who had normal births in private hospital so it depends on your situation and also what you want.

Thanks a lot ma'am for the detailed response

and any other person, please i need some answers

Please what documents do I need to process my baby's birth certificate after delivery? Is it true I'll need to have a CPF number? how can I get this in Brazil?

I am thinking of applying for baby's passport through the consulate after I return back to Nigeria. Can I travel back to Nigeria using the birth certificate as a travel document for the baby, or birth certificate wont be accepted in lieu of passport. What documents do I need to apply for baby's passport.

Thanks a lot for your insight

You need to have a CPF to do anything in Brazil. It's the first thing u need to register. It's done online and you can also do it at the recital federal. Check for the recital federal office near you.

After you give birth, you'll be given a yellow paper at the hospital which you'll take to the Cartorio to get the birth certificate. You also need to apply for baby's RG and Brazilian Passport.

To go back to Nigeria, you need either Visa, Nigerian passport or Electronic Travel Authorization for your baby. The visa is on arrival for Brazilian passport holders like your baby. To get more information on how to get Nigerian passport or ETC, contact the Nigerian embassy. Their number is on Google. Also note that to get Nigerian passport, you need to physically be in Brasilia. ETC can be done and sent to you.
