“It is noteworthy that this is a region of the country that provides ease of access, low entry and operating costs, a safe and welcoming community and a very active state government support and participation. This is a fact. Oil and gas extraction must not leave our environment destroyed for yet unborn generations o Invest in the Southwest for the best returns on your investment and to enjoy the best investor friendly experience in Nigeria and Africa. flokii:Lol. You are now exploring with your mouth. You don't even need exploration know where there is oil and gas. preliminary evidence will always indicate the presence of hydrocarbons. So that exploration largely determines the quantity. Ogun and southwest has nothing, except in the Ijaw occupied fringes of Ondo. In the south east for instance, it's been known for ages there are large amounts of hydrocarbons but no serious exploration has been done. The little done in Imo revealed over 200trillion cf of natural gas, bigger than What has been found elsewhere in Nigeria put together. I'm sure you also see what goes on during bore hole drillings in Enugu. The huge volume in Anambra widely known. Being endowed is not propaganda like you lots and the North do. 24 Likes 5 Shares |

flokii: The Sage Pa Awo, was less enthusiastic about oil and gas extraction in Yorubaland. I once read his speech he gave at the Convocation ceremony of University of Ghana, Legon, where he stated that he believes that in the long run, compared to industrial development/ extraction of natural resources, agricultural and human capacity development through massive investment in agriculture and education is better for the environment and achieving human development goals. Pa Awo raised a serious concern in that speech. I am sure that his concerns will be revisited by the political and intelligentsia elite of the SW, the natural resources have always been there and we are aware but the political will for massive industrialization extraction is not and has never been solidly convincing 253 Likes 3 Shares |

FreeStuffsNG: I know there are Oil deposits in many parts of South West, just that our people are docile and never eager to push for anything, just to be blowing big big grammar up and down and be doing oversabi, whereas we are really losing out from the allocations that other regions are getting. 16 Likes 1 Share |

flokii:I just explained to you why it is so. The political will is not there and has not changed significantly because of the sound intellectual argument laid by the late Sage and his political party right from Action Group days. It made no sense to destroy your environment to make N100 from Oil and gas extraction when you can use sustainable development production of Cocoa, rubber etc to fetch you same amount or more than N100, create more employments and help the environment. Agriculture can create more jobs than oil and gas yet it is sustainable. That was why the Western region made massive investments in agriculture and education yet had surplus profits without destroying the environment then and for future generations of Yoruba. That's a model that has proven to work so it's hard to convince people to abandon it. Oil and gas is non renewable yet it destroys the environment so you need to count the cost before and even after it's devastated the environment for your yet unborn generations. 95 Likes 5 Shares |

It's time for the zoo to be divided and let everyone go their way now that the Southwest has also said it has oil. Most importantly, they will never get the 13% oil derivation. 3 Likes 1 Share |
