Ogun State has more Oil and even gas deposits than the entire South East region.
Let exploration commence fully and you'd marvel.

You think South West isn't blessed with natural resources??

Tongeji island in Ikpokia, Olokola and some other parts have Oil in huge quantities.

So na SE be your yardstick for measuring success? Dey there make the political class continue to use your brain dey drink akamu, all in the name of tribalism. If huge quantity of oil deposits translate directly to prosperity, Bayelsa state would be like Dubai.

Loool. Forget about regional government,
it died 1966 because Gowon created states. Any restructuring will be on the basis of states.

Anioma state should be created

I would prefer that ogun government should invest in mechanized agriculture than oil exploration.

SW should be food sufficient.

So you can be collecting free money from FG abi?

As for Anioma , I am totally in agreement that it must be carved out from Delta state.
The demographics has been altered with you displaced across the Niger people flocking in there .

You can carry Asaba join your eastern region dat one is not my headache .

I wish crude oil gets discovered in abundance in Ogun State. Not like Buhari's non existing crude oil discovered in Gombe and elsewhere in the North of Nigeria.

Bolded.
But much of the SS region's environment has been destroyed by oil pollution. Too many people from the SS who can afford to leave the region now live in Abuja and in Lagos.
The gully erosion which ravages much of the SE region is associated to oil exploration in the nearby SS region, and in the SE region proper. But we see people say to easterners: go back to your erosion ravaged east.
There is no or tiny compensation to the oil producing areas for the pollution of their environment.

I know there are Oil deposits in many parts of South West, just that our people are docile and never eager to push for anything, just to be blowing big big grammar up and down and be doing oversabi, whereas we are really losing out from the allocations that other regions are getting.
. I think SW are been strategically waiting for the appropriate time, remember those that exposed their resources earlier are being plumder and victimized and do not really benefits because of the power that favour certain parts of the country.

I don't think that the gully erosion in the SE has to do with oil and gas extraction in the SS and SE. It's largely because of indiscriminate deforestation and poor building/ road construction planning.but if you have any interesting academic journal on it, please share.

The oil producing states have been receiving massive compensation and still does if you see the huge revenue allocations to them every month. They are not being creative and honest with the money they receive because the political will supports such corrupt system.
It is up to the people from those areas to hold their leaders accountable. If they don't, trust me, the oil and gas extraction industry is not what failed their future, it is their past, current and future leaders.

Oil producing state leaders are supposed to be investing massively in agriculture , education, environmental conservation, not building long stretches of roads, multiple bridges, massive houses etc as they are currently doing in sandfilled towns they create by destroying the little fauna and flora which serves as natural buffer and protection between them and massive flooding in the future. It has happened in Otuoke where HE GEJ destroyed a largely substantial part of their natural forest environment to build a Federal university, FMC, military formations, estates, bridges, roads etc. The environment gets so flooded that even he could hardly live comfortably in his house in Otuoke, Ogbia , Bayelsa state.

What is the point in building structures that will one day go underwater especially after the oil would have significantly dwindled. Smh

Omoluabi, weren't losing out because the oil is in still bosom of the earth for us to properly harnessed and better utilised now that our OWN who understands what he's doing is at the helm of affairs. Every Yoruba man or.woman has always known Yorubaland has the largest deposit of natural petroleum resources in West Africa. See what that Iboman, Obasanjo, did to our cements in Ibese, Obajana and the rest. That would have been the fate of any earlier-than-now exploration and exploitation of petroleum resources in the West. Now all activities can be properly and appropriately monitored.
