I currently rear native birds, I stopped buying chicken from the market, the female are sometimes bigger than normal layers, they do lay big eggs. The male are as big as Cockrell. I crossed them with Noiler, they are currently about 3rd or 5th generation of Noiler. They hatch themselves, and I give them grower match for daily feeding. I do release them but they don't walk far. Attached are the birds and just 3 eggs. One of the eggs has 2 yokes. 2 Likes 1 Share

JoeEeL:Oga, Local chickens still roam the streets of Lagos. My family had them while I was growing up and they were a delicacy in the pot and on our Sunday rice. If anyone thinks it's still not doable, it's up to that person. Politicizing everything is simply ridiculous. Cc: OneCandleAway JudasNaKarrot 1 Like 1 Share |

JoeEeL: I don't think I will have time to cultivate rice or cassava.... But I'd really love to practice farming in a large scale. Especially rice farming. I served under a Katsina director who was a rice farmer and he'd harvest and sell thousands of bags of processed rice and would just buy a new car every year. There's money in rice farming. 1 Like |

JASONjnr: There's money in any form of farming but just how much the government supports the farmers? Will every citizen now become a farmer because of an authoritarian and reckless govt? |

brown3:Did I tell you to go and buy 100 chicks? Since when did you need a big compound to raise 3 or 4 local chickens when the streets and gutters are there? You only have to make sure there's always a female in the mix to continue procreation. Do you know how much free range eggs cost over here? Your local chicken will provide you with that for free. |
