I currently rear native birds, I stopped buying chicken from the market, the female are sometimes bigger than normal layers, they do lay big eggs. The male are as big as Cockrell.

I crossed them with Noiler, they are currently about 3rd or 5th generation of Noiler. They hatch themselves, and I give them grower match for daily feeding. I do release them but they don't walk far.

Attached are the birds and just 3 eggs. One of the eggs has 2 yokes.

Cos that’s how chickens roam the streets of usa or Canada abi?

Una deserve Nigeria true true
Oga,

Local chickens still roam the streets of Lagos. My family had them while I was growing up and they were a delicacy in the pot and on our Sunday rice.

If anyone thinks it's still not doable, it's up to that person. Politicizing everything is simply ridiculous.

Go and buy local chicks and raise them.
You only need corn while they are small and after that, they go find food themselves.
And they make better delicacy in the pot.
This was the norm in the 70s and 80s until frozen chicken took people's interest away from local ones.
na very body get compound or space to train chicken

You may not end with chicken alone. You may start planting cassava and rice in d same house. Apc will push u guys the distance you never imagined.

I don't think I will have time to cultivate rice or cassava.... But I'd really love to practice farming in a large scale. Especially rice farming.

I served under a Katsina director who was a rice farmer and he'd harvest and sell thousands of bags of processed rice and would just buy a new car every year.

There's money in rice farming.

That stuff right there is most likely imported as Nigeria isn't self sufficient in poultry production.....how's that tinubu's fault, what happened to all the billions spent on poultry production interventions by govt since obj through to Buhari......what development came into poultry, even when dollar was 150 naira.

Tinubu is indeed a clueless leader.

Nothing to offer , except regression.

Only his paid 1di0ts will refute this.

In 25 years Nigeria could not develop poultry production to be self sufficient....every govt since obj has an one intervention in poultry one way or the other worth several billions, what happened to all that money.....this is the effects we are seeing now, how's that tinubu's fault

There's money in any form of farming but just how much the government supports the farmers?

Will every citizen now become a farmer because of an authoritarian and reckless govt?

Did I tell you to go and buy 100 chicks?
Since when did you need a big compound to raise 3 or 4 local chickens when the streets and gutters are there?
You only have to make sure there's always a female in the mix to continue procreation. Do you know how much free range eggs cost over here? Your local chicken will provide you with that for free.

Nonsense claims! Since when did farmer's market-bought chicken become the standard when it comes to the cost of chicken anywhere? undecided
