that is the amazing thing about igbos, if regional government is established and Peter obi is on the ballot he will get zero votes. Deep down they don’t like the man and know he is useless but because he has established some kind of traction and popularity it’s like they feel they are stuck with him

Sorry who told you that? You guys just wake up and make very stupid assumptions and talk rubbish.

It will not. We practised it before 1966 and that was the best period for Nigeria especially the South West.
Ibadan was the capital and the region witnesses a lot of development.

Let us talk about development, if there was a region that witnessed rapid development it was the Eastern region. We already had two power stations Afam and Oji River when you guys had only one. The only exception was the first radio and TV station. The East had the first indigenous degree awarding university in Nigeria(UNN) at a time when UI was still an affiliate campus for University College London. The best years was in the mid 50s when Awo introduced free education to battle with the high enrollment numbers that the south east had. The 60s was not the best for Western region because you all had crisis from 1962 which led to Awolowo being imprisoned, then the Western region crisis also was another issue.

Tinubu is greater than Azikiwe, Agbari Ojukwu and all Ibo leaders put together.

Ibo land was the most backward during the era of regional government. That was why Ibo soldiers s truncated the first Republic.

Oya bring documents to show the economic performance of all the regions in the 50s and 60s. Mind you coal was the resource that was our biggest earner and it was in Enugu which was in the Eastern region. Sometimes you talk like someone whobwas raised with vulture breat milk which has made your brain not form well.

This will happen one day. Though, every Nigerian president will resist it because of limitation of the president, but it will come to pass one day.

Return Nigeria first to regional government system. Who the people in any region choose to lead them is secondary. Any region that chooses to elect leaders who desire for the region to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system or to commit much of the region's income to pilgrimages, it's up to the region.
But it's stupeed to believe that Nigeria can progress on its present suffocating unitary government system.

This is not even a Unitary system of we decide to use a Unitary system. What is being practiced is a pseudo federal system which is actually feudal in nature.

I will not get into a rabbit hole argument about who was doing better or who was struggling with regional govt. It's waste of my time. My take is that regional govt is the way to go and the South West fared better then. And since the East was doing very well, then they should not have any problem with regional govt.

Why will the amendment to return to regional government system not succeed?

The north which opposed it has seen the devastation and poverty which the present unitary government system has wrecked on Nigeria, especially in the North.
If for example, Sharia criminal justice system is allowed in the constitution of the region of Northern Nigeria, there is no reason for Boko Haram to emerge and say it's fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system. Now see the havoc wrecked by Boko Haram on Nigeria as a whole. Tourism money is lost to Nigeria. Many countries live on income from tourists.
There should have been no need for later days secessionist groups to emrge if regional government system is in practice in Nigeria. The present type of unitary government system introduced by northern military dictators with their constitution to legit the fraudulent political structure and unitary government system they created; has been suffocating all in Nigeria.

The earlier you guys understand that we are not even practising Unitary system, the better for you. Singapore practised Unitary system and see where they are. The truth is we are practising a pseudo federal system that is feudal in nature.

Oga see bring development statistics from 1950 till 1966 the Eastern region had progressed far ahead of the Western region. They were fastest growing region economically courtesy of M.I Okpara's policies and Zik's developmental programs.

You still don't get the idea no one had an issue with regional government. Even the idea of unitary system was to unify the civil service, the regions were never touched, and let me burst your bubble the unitary system was suggested by Chief Simeon Adebo. So it was not even an igbo man that muted the idea of Unitary system.

If you believe your fallacy here, then you should be glad at the prospect of returning to regional govt. Two opposite sets of people can never be victims of lies. If the person being lied to is ignorant, the person telling the lies sure knows he is lying.

Stop being foolish here. Regional government is not our answer at the moment. If we rejig the present constitution to practice true federalism it is the best, because regional system inly amplifies the same tribalism and nepotism we are complaining about.

The idea is good but politicians will turn it to another gold mine. Office of the head of regional government will have bigger budget than that of current governors, a new resident and office more expensive, P.As, S.As, S.S.As, COS, etc to siphon tax payers money..

At the end, more politicians will have assess to more public fund while the masses watches with empty stomach

Even upon the regional something, some people just can't look away from our side and allow our 'unanimous' choice stand. On one hand, you say we are bigots because we largely went for Obi in our homes. It is still the same mouth you are using to say we won't go for him.
