brother,

you posted this same question in USA student visa thread as well. If you want to change your status from visitor to study permit, you can apply to change the status in Canada and for the USA, it's possible but someone said its not advisable.

You can NOT start schooling theresmiley until after you changed visitors visa to study permit.

Ok thanks
Well, I posted it in both groups to know which way is best

no someone didn't invite me I will book for hotel, i want after put money in that my bank account i will do some paper stating that I sold my land property, or is it good to use my brother as my sponsor because he have good bank statement?

If he is your younger brother, it may not be advisable.
I don't know,just saying.
Not that it's wrong to use him, also making the land documents id cool.

Please house, I noticed from my biometric letter that I mistakenly listed my country of birth as England instead of Nigeria. What is the way forward? I haven't book for biometric. I need your advice.

Thank you. I got reference letter, mybankstatement, 3 mobths payslips and explanation letter all notorized and send wth 6 month recent bank statement while mybankstatement covers 1yr. I just hope amd pray
Ashirioluwa:

Since the IRCC claims that you should prove that the bank statements you submitted were real, this is what you need to do.

Go to your bank and request your most recent bank statements. This can be from January 2024 to date.

Also, request a “bank reference letter" from your bank. Ask your bank to write a bank reference letter on your behalf stating that your bank account is real and active. They should state when you opened the account on the letter, the average daily balance, and the closing balance.

Actually, one or two-month bank statements and a bank reference letter can do the trick.

In conclusion, I will say this: that your so-called agent doesn't really know his job if he doesn't realize that all you actually need in this case is a "bank reference letter" from your bank and possibly a one- or two-month bank statement.

You should be fine if you able to submit all the documents within the timeframe given to you.

Good morning guys

If I go to Canada on a visiting visa and during the period of visit, the school I applied to opens for the term, can I start schooling there without returning for a school visa

Is there a problem with this?

You cannot start school without a student permit..so firstly you apply for student visa which is different from your visiting visa and with all required document include medical test and bank statement and a strong sop then if it granted, you go to the land boarder for your student permit.

why is he sponsoring you, what is your purpose of visit, how important is that purpose of visit that your bro will sponsor you.
You have to know all these and prepare your application well, it would have been better if you are the person that has the account, with that it will show you have a solid buisness here and a reason to come home.
Still, it's worth trying.

Sometime let apply wisdom to this Canada visa application and not just do give away of application fee to this foreign embassy ,how can your brother sponsor you to go on holiday to have fun and spending over 5m naira when your brother himself is in Nigeria not that his aboard that you miss him and not seen each other for long time OR you student or underage ...please build your own account to apply tourist visa or go via the study route then he can sponsor you and not sponsor to go see tall building in Canada which add no economic value to your life when yourself his not financially buoyant that make no logical senses but as Nigerians we believe in dummy miracle so hopeful you can trust in faith and dummy miracle to get this visa approved in this era of mass rejection due to asylum ..good luck!

Good day house, my sister received this rejection yesterday, she did biometrics December 28th. How can we appeal this, she's a 2 star officer with the federal fire service. Feeling sad ☹

I got a refusal letter yesterday too,
I submitted on the 4th of Dec
Biometrics on the 7th,
I have 5 Schengen visas, one SA, one Turkey, one Kenya and one Ireland visas as part of my travel history.
My POF was N11M and $3k (trip for 11 days)
I submitted ALL relevant docs including my marriage Certificate.
The only Reason for refusal is ‘Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable)’.

I concluded within my myself that these guys have limited number of TRV to be issued.
Whichever way, I will definitely apply for GCMS note and return my application later this year.

With the current number of people who got visas last year and the majority landing in Canada only to claim asylum and abuse the visa, it's no surprise that this affects other innocent applicants. I am not surprised by the current refusal rate. This is not the time to risk applying to Canada; the refusal rate is too high! embarassed

In my opinion with naija currency rate ,

Maybe they want people to show bank statement minimum, 10-15k in USD acct and naira bank statement between 25-40m.

plus a good CAC and business acct. OR a good job profile bank statement showing monthly income 800-1m monthly.

Sometimes pple want to get it fast with emotions without critical thinking.

In 2018 my friend was denied Canada visa even with Valid US visa.

Canada weh no fine o Lol.

Ofcourse Canada government will put a cap on temporary resident arrivals by fall 2024 a plan to reduce Temporary residents in canada by 5% due to pressure in housing...
More restrictions on temporary work permit, visitor visa, study permit which is already capped and permanent resident arrivals which they are doing already...

Province and territories with immigration minister of Canada 🇨🇦 has concluded this in a meeting on May 10th 2024

I've seen many posts about the importance of GCMS notes in understanding visa refusals. However, can anyone share their experience on how detailed the GCMS notes are in explaining the reasons for refusal? Are there specific areas or points in the notes that applicants should focus on to better understand their case and improve their next application?

To gain a clearer understanding of why your previous application was deemed ineligible and to enhance your new submission, it is recommended to order GCMS notes. These notes offer detailed insights and can be highly beneficial. For more information on how to order them, visit https://gcmsnotesrequest.ca/.

Sadly, there are people who had the exact same profile as that applicant, with all the travel history, a lot of dollar pof and marriage ties, but who still went to Canada to claim asylum. It's terrible. I saw a couple last week who were doing very well in Nigeria with the wife working at Glo earning well, but who still claimed asylum on landing. There was one too working at 7up. These are the people who have made getting a Canadian visit visa hard for people like this applicant. The VOs don't believe Nigerians anymore.

You are right because an old classmate I recently reconnected with, who is now a lawyer in Canada, told me that the recent surge in refusal rates for visitor visas has been attributed to the persistent abuse of this stream by individuals. It is concerning to note that as many as 8 out of 10 Nigerians who obtain a visitor visa end up making fake asylum claims as homosexuals, which understandably results in a high refusal rate. This trend has also created complexities in the asylum process and contributed to an increase in rejections at asylum case hearings and surely Canada planning some reform soon to his asylum process just like UK, Ireland and Germany

the sudden increase in approval rates for visitors visa last year seemed to coincide with the closure of roxham road crossing from USA to Canada. They knew what they were doing.

There are people benefiting from the asylum claims industry like hotels, lawyers ( who charge as much as 1k dollars to fill form) , charities etc. these people are highly connected with government and politicians. 😁

The lawyer said the same thing. But in the end, the asylum seeker is left at the mercy of the lawyer and the court system after hearing fails because appeals are paid out of pocket. As a result, the majority will be deported since very few applications will be approved, especially with the upcoming reforms likely proposing a faster deportation process with the federal election ahead.

faster deportation is nothing but an election gimmick. People will go underground/ disappear and cbsa won’t be able to find them to deport. Many People with failed asylum claims since 5 years ago haven’t been deported.

It can be challenging for individuals who are out of status in Canada unlike in usa , including those on a deportation list, to survive and find employment, including cash jobs that is even harder now to found job for thoes even with document. It's not uncommon to struggle under these circumstances. I've come across a situation where a Nigerian individual, who was on the deportation list, found the situation too overwhelming after a year and made the difficult decision to sell his house and return to Nigeria.i think maybe thoes from india or Mexican with deep job link especially in the constuction sector can survive in this situation but l doubt a nigerian will be able to stay out of status in canada on deportation list and survive it
