China is confident US won't engage her in a military battle over an Island that shares no historical connection with the United States. China has said it that it wants a peaceful reunification with the Island and it hopes to achieve that if the Nationalist Party (KMT) leads the country someday cause the Nationalist Party has said it wants a reunification with China and opposes independence. But the former leader Tsai Ing Wen and this present leader from the DPP are in favour of independence that's what is riling China.

What China is doing is to put more pressure on the DPP but if they are hell bent on throwing away the One-China policy then China will strike them hard.

The thing is majority of Taiwanese are pro west and anti China. The KMT will never have the public support in fact they are viewed as a Vasal for China. And if by miracle they come into power the Taiwanese people will resist any unification agenda.

The truth it for many decades majority of Taiwanese has been westernized, they no longer have that hard conservative stance like native Chinese, if China is expecting using political schemes to get taiwan they are in for a long ride.
