A Housewife, Omolara Oluwakemi, has been accused of killing her husband, Seidu Jamiu, over alleged infidelity in Ondo State.

It was gathered that Oluwakemi used a pestle to smash her husband’s head while he was asleep in their residence at Akungba Akoko in Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

The couple had been living together for more than seven years with three children.

A family source who confirmed the incident to the Daily Trust said the suspect picked the pestle at the backyard of their bungalow to hit her husband on the head.

“There had been a misunderstanding between the couple over allegations of infidelity particularly against the man. His housewife had been accusing him of not being faithful in the marriage by keeping a ‘side chick,” the source said.

"Unfortunately, we learnt during the weekend that he had been killed by her wife. She was said to have used a pestle to smash him on the head. I was at the hospital and was moved to tears when I saw his corpse,” he added.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who confirmed the murder on Sunday, said the victim's wife reported the incident at the police, claiming that unknown assailants killed her husband in the midnight of Saturday.

The PPRO said no arrest had been made over the incident.

“I can't confirm that the victim's wife killed him because it was the woman, the complainant of the incident, that reported the matter at police station. We have not made any arrest, but investigation has begun into the incident,” she added.

A sad one. There are way too many domestic violence deaths springing up. Can right conflict resolution be included in pre marriage counselling.

Don't know how much help that would bring, but if even one life can be saved from it then it would be worth it.

Adultery and its grevious consequences .If you know that you can't be faithful,why bother marrying?
Most adulterous men and women are sexually loose often with no limits to their sexual prolificacy.They will sleep with anything anywhere, anytime.
Most people tend to forget that Adultery can bring devastating curses upon the person involved including his or her descendants.
We can see this in the life of King David in the Bible.
David commited adultery with Bathsheba the wife of Uriah,one of his faithful officers and got her pregnant.To cover his sin,he committed another sin( Murder) when Uriah refused to comply with his request to go home and spend time with the Wife.
This act brought down Divine Wrath upon David, his family and descendants.
His own son Absalom slept with all his father's concubines publicly and raised a sword against him in rebellion, forcing him to become a fugitive king.
God had decreed that He would cause someone from his family to bring trouble on David and Because David commited adultery in secret,He God shall give his wives to another man in public.
It all happened with Absalom.
The Terrible Divine Judgements even extended to Amnon a son of David lusting after his half sister Tamar and raping her, bringing more shame to the family.
Absalom her brother later murdered Amnon out of revenge.
Absalom later died disgraceful while trying to murder his father and seizing the throne.
It did not stop there.
The Judgment of God didn't only claim the life of the baby conceived in sin,but extended down through David's lineage.
Some of his kingly descendants died a violent death by the sword.Some were taken captive by Babylonian and Egyptian armies.
The sword was always raising its head throughout David's lineage just as God pronounced.
Likewise Reuben the first son of Jacob committed adultery (Incest) with his father's wife)
He and his descendants were cursed never to amount to anything good.
Today, many commit adultery without thinking of the consequences.Many have and are still losing their lives in the process, just like the Ataga/Chidimma saga and this recent one.

Pls if you know you won't be faithful when married, then you have no business getting married. The rate of infidelity is quite alarming

Back to the topic, the situation is quite dicey. The woman claiming her husband was attacked. I hope the police carry out a proper investigation to fish out the real culprit.
