I’m not referring to soldiers who are stationed to maintain peace. However, any uniformed officer, be it police, soldier or whatever who blocks the road and illegally extorts motorists at gunpoint is nothing but a criminal and should be treated like criminals.

People should think, what’s the difference between these so-called police that mount illegal road blocks, cause hardship on travelers and rob motorists at gunpoint and other common robbers? Nothing! Even some armed robbers wear uniforms too!!

So, if we feel excited when civilian armed robbers are killed why should we feel sad when uniformed armed robbers are killed??!

If your salary as a policeman is not enough and you don’t have passion to do the job, quit! There are other civil servants that are more educated yet earn lesser salary than policemen. But if you think you will block roads, cause hardship and rob civilians because you were given a licensed gun, then you should also be treated like common armed robbers.

WHAT IS STEALING?

Stealing is the act of taking what does not belong to you either by force or without the consent of the owner. If you do it with a gun or stick like agbero and uniform men it becomes an armed robbery.

Have you read this book Les Miserables?

The main antagonist is a police officer whose name is Javert

Javert was born in a jail cell, yet he does not steal, he does not lie, he always fights crime no matter the danger, he always respect authorities, he is not corrupt, he accept no bribes... and yet he is the main antagonist precisely because of these qualities.

When a prostitute was caught attacking a taxpayer, Javert immediately arrests her and tries to lock her up for 6 months (according to the law), it turns out this woman only engaged in prostitution to take care of her only daughter - if she is locked up nobody can take care of her daughter for six months... Javert being a 'good police officer' strictly abides by the law and turns deaf to her pleading.

The point of my rambling is... Some Nigerians always complain that the law enforcement agencies are corrupt but the question is, if they were not corrupt, if they truly abided by the laws and customs of the country, would you be safe?

I know some drivers who drive without license, some carry more loads than they are meant to, some cut corners and follow one way, if the police start being 'good' would these drivers be safe?
