Organised Labour Suspends Strike For Five Days by treesun: 11:51am On Jun 04 |
The Organised Labour has suspended the nationwide strike for five days to give room for uninterrupted meeting with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage. A source with the leaders of Labour disclosed this to Vanguard. Vanguard Economic Discourse 20240:02 / 0:49 Vanguard had reported how Labour leaders had a successful meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, and other government officials on Monday and reached a resolution that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to a new minimum wage higher than N60,000. They equally resolved that the Tripartite Committee would meet every day for the next one week with a view to arriving at an agreeable National Minimum Wage. Today at a meeting with FG Tripartite Committee scheduled by 10am, Labour suspended its srike. With this development, every government and private offices are expected to reopen and function as usual. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/06/breaking-organised-labour-suspends-strike-for-five-days/ |

I really want to commend the NLC and TUC for taking the bull by the horn, sometimes the kingdom suffereth violence and you need to call the bluff of your adversaries Now the next question I ask is,what next after the five days? I will stop here by calling the attention of well meaning Nigerians to the plight of pensioners in this coubtry It is a shame that there are pensioners who served their country and after service are made to live below the dignity of a human States are paying less than 10,000 naira to pensioners while those in the LGAs are totally abandoned And you ask why corruption is rampant in the Civil Service, very simple. It's because the young ones in service see how those that left are treated and decide to take care of themselves to avoid stories that touch My point is simple,as the NLC and TUC are fighting for minimum wage, let them put in a word for pensioners because one day they too will leave office and become pensioners 1 Like |

TUC & NLC must compromise. We're not surprised. Their leaders are the worst you can support in a fight with a heartless government like Tinubu and APC. The idiots should make haste and restore light now. |

No sensible person would say labour hasn't been reasonable with this government U have removed subsidy for 1 year now yet can't settle minimum wage Propose 100k to 120k if labour doesn't accept it then we know they are the problem 1 Like |

EmperorCaesar: Don't mind that moniker... He is after anything that will collapse the country... How can someone who claimed to be a employer of labour be here suggesting 250K as minimum wage, I'm sure he did not the side effect of what he is asking for. |

Re: Organised Labour Suspends Strike For Five Days by ThatFairGuy1: 12:16pm On Jun 04 |
Okay. Minimum wage should be around 80k - 100k with the present situation. That's reasonable enough not almost 500k Obi masquerading Joe Ajairo wanted |

EmperorCaesar:So you don't know what causes inflation ![]() ![]() Seriously ![]() What has negotiating better minimum wage has to do with inflation? Or, were you guys were told to spew this lie? Now that minimum wage is 30k and inflation is 33%, do tell me what made it jump to 33%. Honestly, ordinary petty traders are better than you guys in analysing economic indices. Disappointed and shaking my head. When we support a hourse, we should do so with caution and know when to tell the subject the truth for better balancing. Criticism is acceptable in all spares of life and that is what help people get better and do better. |

What was the increase |
Re: Organised Labour Suspends Strike For Five Days by LegendHero(m): 12:20pm On Jun 04 |
descarado: So think of this scenario. —Your petrol business generated 2million monthly for example and you have 10 workers on your payroll earning minimum wage of 30k. Your wage bill is 300k monthly and you still have 1.7m left as profit. Let’s say those 10 workers are very essential that you can’t sack one or else your petrol station cannot function to optimal capacity. —Then FG increase minimum wage to 400k, that means you now need to pay your workers 4million monthly which means your business is losing 2m every month. What do you think will happen? Will you not increase the price of fuel since you can’t sack workers? Thats how it contributes to inflation. It’s simple as ABC. |

Is Obi ready to pay 120k for his workers in his Abuja supermarket? Secondly, what will the impact of such amount be on the inflation rate? mrvitalis: |
