The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their industrial action over a lack of consensus on a new minimum wage and the hike in electricity tariff for about one week. https://news360ng.com/breaking-nlc-tuc-calls-off-strike-after-meeting-with-sgf/ 21 Likes 5 Shares

By suspending the strike, the unions may be indicating that they are willing to engage in further negotiations with the government to reach a mutually acceptable agreement, without putting Nigerian's to more hardship, This could lead to a resolution that benefits will all. However, the suspension of the strike may not yield anything, because the government might not listen to them, more over the strike does not affect them as much as it does to ordinary citizens and the underlying issues may still not be addressed. The government and the unions may need to continue negotiations to find a lasting solution to the disputes. 21 Likes |

What's the new minimum wage? This husband and wife romance/drama between NLC top officials and FG is why the government of the day see them finish. Imagine 1 day strike called off and we haven't gotten the results of the strike action in the first place. I pity monthly salary earners sha. 27 Likes |

I knew it won't go far, when the NLC executives go broke, they come all out barking like toothless rabid dogs. When they are given snack they turn docile. 16 Likes 2 Shares |

mbahdi: You don't understand unionism vs governance. I feel bad about this also, but I understand that Labour also needs to be careful. Unionism is not a display of emotional outburst. 41 Likes 4 Shares |

I honestly don't know why some folks here derive pleasure in people suffering. You celebrated when Emefielle made Naira scarce because it helped your useless candidate. You celebrated this strike too despite mostly affecting average Nigerians. You better check yourselves to asylums. Mad people. 47 Likes 11 Shares |

Funny They should come to a logical conclusion. Instead of this back and forth agreement and disagreement. It's not a nice idea to call off the strike when they have not gotten to any better agreement. 6 Likes |

Nice @least FG have understood that they're united this time. Those of you saying rubbish, you guys lack some sense. Normally the poor masses suffers more during strike but the most important thing is to achieve the aim of the strike for better future. They only suspended it for five days to negotiate with government. If they should continue the strike for the next one month, can the poor people survive? Can you afford to fuel your generator throughout the strike period? Many business was affected just for a day strike and some of you are urging them to continue without considering the negative impact. 23 Likes |
