I wonder how students think of surviving in the UK without dependants, as in how?
Years back, what fueled japa was form A Pound rate that was used to pay tuition fee. Truth is many that traveled to UK then would never try it if there wasn't form A and exchange rate was high as the present.
Personally, I'm a dependant that came in last year with my student wife. I spent little above 5 million naira to pay 9000 pounds deposit of the tuition with form A. I would be looking for over 15 million naira in present day Nigeria to pay the same sum, that's huge and I don't think it would make a wise investment for me. To make it worse, NO DEPENDANT.
Today, people just wanna leave the country and thus many are jumping from frying pan to fire. What could be more depressing and humiliating than being served eviction mail by the UKVI, abi living illegally in the UK after your resident permit is revoked?

Hopefully they listen. People hate to hear the hard truth.

Look elsewhere, Germany is free, Luxembourg and Iceland is almost like free and alot of EU countries. Make your research.

UK is hard at the moment.

Who get ear should hear. Ire ooooo

The honest and bitter truth is UK don cast.
As with other endeavours in life, those who invest early are usual the best of beneficiaries. For UK, those that benefitted from the surge were those that went before 2023.

The 2 main routes by which people emigrate to UK were the Care visa and student visa.
Recent policy has banned both categories from bringing in dependants, so what's the gain?
Many with care visas are even floating in the UK because their COS have been revoked by the Home Office. There's nothing more scarce in UK at present than a care COS even without dependant o.

In fact many students are likely going to return to Nigeria after their 2 years post work study because sponsorships are now strictly consciously regulated.
If u want to go UK with peace of mind now, target other work visas such as health, maybe IT and others. How u go about that, me I no know o.

If all what has been said is too big for u to comprehend, the summary is it is not advisable to come tru student visa with the intention of paying ur balance of let's say 7k pounds and accommodation with 20 hours weekly work.

Without dependant

Hello everyone , I am currently at the point of uploading documents for my Visa application. I had previous refusal from Canada student visa application last year and I have declared it in my UK application. My question is --- Should I upload the refusal letter as part of the documents I am submitting ?

Thank you.

If it's hard to break through in the UK where the language eases integration, how easy would it be in Germany where you would need to first of all learn a new language to integrate into the system. Aside IT, where there's a few English positions. Other job positions require fluent German.

are people really "doing well" in Nigeria as you asserted?
I'm not so sure
N1 million a month with a wife and three kids is not doing well, if really you wanna give your kids a good education, live in a proper place, and live the nice middle class lifestyle Nigerians used to enjoy pre 2010.

just saying

We have to define "doing well" here. That is where most analyses of Nigeria and middle to high-income earners do not cover. Also, we should understand that Nigeria goes beyond Lagos and Abuja. Although, I agree that replicating pre-2010 or even pre-Buhari era go hard this time around.

Going back home is always an option and a very good one, because no place like home. That’s where they found savings to japa. They can start over easily and forget *what will people say*.

All those people with 2 years post study visa still have opportunities to start thier PhD before the 2 years elapses. PhD gives them better standing, That's other big options, so it's not as bad as it sounds. Many of them already have a UK Masters degree, they can even get PhD scholarships in Uk and other EU countries or even move from UK to Canada which is more easier than relocating from Nigeria to Canada. I know guys with 2 years post study visas at the moment who have not yet gotten COS but are doing full and part time jobs hammering up to £4500 a month and get about £3,400 after tax. So it's not as bad as it sounds.

The issue is that anything that involves rigours, the average Nigerian will rather not bother.

There are ways to avert a return to Nigeria, especially if you are a single man. If married with kids, it becomes more complicated.....

PhD scholarship to the United States is very possible with a UK Masters, if you are ready to put in the work ...

Canada express entry is also very possible, with three years experience, learning and passing French and scoring high with your IELTS.
UK masters is a plus

Affordable PhD in Estonia is also on the table...
That's someone's plan B that I know of personally....
He don already dey save money towards that level if he does not get the COS this year.....

there are also not so moral (but legal ways) of staying, but Nigerians who know about it are keeping it under tight wraps so it does not "cast" if it gets popular

The reality is that to avoid a forced japada situation, one has to be proactive from day 1

Sebi na person wey finish Masters in UK go think of PhD.
There's no bad mouthing anywhere, the campaign is simply advising people to only come to UK if they have almost all their tuition fee ready.
Abi for all the Nigerian Msc students presently in UK that have been locked out by their schools and given ejection notice by UKVI, are u going to advise them to apply for PhD?

leave him let him be talking rubbish

Many Nigerians cannot even pay their half fees they have left
these are people that came in September
someone that cannot pay fees
can he pay circa 3000 quid for post study visa permit ?
That is if the school does not report him to home office and he gets ejected
Do you know the psychological pain many people are going through here?

To make it worse, we don't have a community here that can support each other unlike Pakistanis , so you are largely on your own.

One part of me will say lemme keep quiet, after all, when whoever wanna come, come they will see with their two eyes
But my conscience won't let me lol....
even if its one person that reconsiders the move IF he does not have the sufficient funds, the better , such person should seek other options....

we know most people don't have the funds, and most people saying they have it are lying (typical naija fashion)
but let us all be fooling ourselves

Sunderland Uni dey show dem woto woto now
their eye don clear

So no one is passing bad energy here. Lot of people has been sent home already by my school.

I understand how you feel about it but it's just the reality to happenings. BBC and rest news are reporting it. If this trend of Nigeria not being able to foot their bills then I see ukvi making sure that anyone coming will keep his money in escrow account just as Germany does

That was referring to people who have successfully completed their Masters and are on 2 years post study . This 2 years post study is enough to navigate to Europe, U.S or Canada or better still PhD in UK.
Remember the Post study BRP can take enable you to easily secure visa and entry to Europe, U.S and Canada at will.
So depending on each person's ability. UK na stepping stone for those that have successfully graduated.

Yes a cool stepping stone. Especially for those not yet married as they can navigate and explore those countries..
Also you can build your travel history easier.

The only issue is if you don't have your fees then one risk his or her entire struggle... God forbid.

For those applying for a UK Student Visa (Tier 4 PBS), here are some key points:

IELTS Eligibility: Ensure you meet the IELTS eligibility requirements. Most universities require a minimum IELTS score as part of their entry criteria.
IELTS Syllabus: Familiarize yourself with the IELTS syllabus to prepare effectively for the exam. This includes listening, reading, writing, and speaking sections.
Documentation: Gather all necessary documents, including your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) and proof of financial support.

Do you mean IELTS is part of the requirement to apply for a uk student visa now ??

Tuition is not my own problem as it's sorted.

Just want to know any reason a visa could be denied. It is stated in my uni's website that they will only issue a refund if you are denied visa under some few conditions.

I have study gap of more than 5 years, is this a problem when applying for visa? During this period, I was self employed running my own sole agency.
The major reason for visa refusal is fake documentation. Submit offer letters, referrals and other relevant documents to show what you've been doing since you left school. Ensure those documents have correct email address, phone numbers and physical addresses. If your POF account is not the same as your salary account, don't attach your salary documents to the application. The verification officer might call your employers and also send mails to them to verify the documents you sent to them. You might also be called. So know all the details in the documents. Your salaries, the date you started a particular job, your roles ,etc. Best of luck

Hello guys, I was given a sponsorship award to study in the UK, the award covers the full tuition and living expenses . I was also promised by the government to be employed after the course in the UK. I am also eligible to add dependant but I'm single.
After reading the warnings about the issues Nigerian students are going through in the UK at the moment is it advisable to go to the UK, it's the biggest opportunity I have recieved.

My current financial situation is such that I don't even have the Visa fees and NHS fees due to exchange rate, can anyone advice or assist me.
