OyoTunjiUSA, why are you using another moniker to reply me?

Infact, why did you open different monikers if your intent is not to continue from where your other account, NewBoyKhashoggi stopped, which is scamming people before it was blocked.

If DisGuy was in the know like justwise was, he would have blocked this account, OyoTunjiUSA moniker and others you have opened to scam unsuspecting Nairalanders.

How can a more than 60 year old man be misbehaving online, if the intent is not to scam more Nairalanders.

I have an issue at hand;

School B which I really want issued me with an i20 just after I got my F1 visa with school A. However, school B is doing a early summer rotation for my program which I have been asked to attend. This rotation starts a month earlier than the earliest resumption date on the i20 from school A that I got my visa with.

Question is: can I enter the US with the i20 from school B with an earlier resumption date way before the earlier resumption date on the i20 from school A that I got visa with

Hey 🤠

@anamo.

1. I will not participate in this battle of idea with my antagonists. If you want me to give you my part of idea you can re-address me separately.

I am awfully sorry.

Best Wishes 🙏

Hey 🤠

A2A.

1. You do not have anything to do officially again with school B.

2. You cannot enter the USA 30 days before the start of your program.

3. The early summer rotation (orientation) you are invited to is not relevant again because you have gotten an F-1 VISA already. The invite is just for campus , classroom, hostels , lecture rooms etc sightseeing prior to resumption.

4. If you want to go by force 30days before your resumption to school A, then you will have to apply for B-2 VISA.

5. My friend be patient. Don't go and complicate issues for yourself. The probability of you getting B-2 Visa (despite your F-1 VISA at hand) for the summer rotation Is 10% over 100.

** If school B is really your heart desire wait till you land in America and change school.

Best Wishes 🙏

In your situation, the key considerations revolve around the interplay between the F-1 visa, the Form I-20, and the start dates of your programs at the two different schools.

1. F-1 Visa: This visa is issued based on the I-20 from a particular school (School A in your case).
2. Form I-20: This form is issued by the school you plan to attend and is necessary for obtaining an F-1 visa.

Points to Consider

1. I-20 and Visa Matching: When you enter the U.S., the immigration officer will look at your F-1 visa and the I-20. These documents should typically correspond to the same school.

2. Entering the U.S: The general rule is that you should enter the U.S. with an I-20 from the school that matches your F-1 visa. If you use an I-20 from School B to enter the U.S. but your visa was issued based on the I-20 from School A, this could cause complications.

3. Program Start Dates: You are allowed to enter the U.S. up to 30 days before the program start date listed on your I-20. However, if the start date for the program at School B is before the earliest entry date listed on the I-20 from School A, you may have a conflict.

Potential Solutions

1. Transfer Procedure: After entering the U.S. with the I-20 from School A, you can transfer to School B. You would need to inform both schools and follow the official SEVIS transfer procedure. This way, your SEVIS record will be updated to reflect the change from School A to School B.

2. Reapply for a Visa: Another option, though more time-consuming, is to obtain a new F-1 visa based on the I-20 from School B. This way, all your documents will match when you enter the U.S.

Recommended Steps

1. Contact Both Schools: Explain your situation to the international student offices at both School A and School B. They can provide specific advice and may help facilitate a transfer in SEVIS.

2. Contact U.S. Embassy or Consulate: Reach out to the U.S. embassy or consulate where you received your F-1 visa. They can offer guidance on whether you can enter with the I-20 from School B or if you need a new visa.

3. Check SEVIS Transfer Policies: Ensure you understand the SEVIS transfer policies and timelines. This is crucial for maintaining your status.

4. Plan Ahead: If reapplying for a visa, ensure you have enough time before your program starts at School B.

Final Advice

Consulting directly with the designated school officials (DSOs) at both institutions and the U.S. immigration authorities will give you the most accurate and actionable advice tailored to your specific situation. This will help ensure that you maintain your F-1 status without any legal issues.

Congrats on your visa approval and admission.

1. I wouldn’t advise that you swap school at this point, it might affect you at POE. Why do you want to resume early?

2. If you want to go on with it, first email the school you got visa with their I-20, notifying them that you’ll like to transfer to a school that starts early (School B). They should be able to transfer your record to School B.

3. You can let school B also know the situation as they might have a transfer form for you to fill so you can submit to School A.

You don’t need to do anything with SEVP. Your school will do that for you.

NB: if you got a visa with a school’s I-20, you have to report that to them. Your Sevis record is tied to that school

I wish you all success.

Hi @Debbieeeeeee,

Thank you for all your help and assistance. You’re one of the honest people who understands the inner works of US visa.

I came on here to help some few folks who are interested in understanding how to navigate their student visa process.

Back in 2012/2013, I was here like everyone else on here to navigate this visa process and came out successful and have helped tons of folks.

Thank you all for helping these lads to navigate visa process.

Stop promoting foolish fundings. U guys have derailed applicants from major visa requirements by makin them believe that once they av fundings their visa is guaranteed.

The oda guy is ur neighbour stop deceiving us. If we agree that fundings takes off tuition burden off ur neck does dat even makes ur visa automatic? U guys re agents working for schools in the US and expecting ur profit on each fool you re able to convince to apply to such schls.

My kid sis got superb cgpa out of OAU but your types were the one who hoodwinked her into chosing a wrong sch nd program because of nonsense scholarship, she got refused upon dat.

Honestly, I saw all those tantrums by matured people here. By @debbie, fearless fang, danburuba, Iggy azalea, OyotunjiUSA and Faintheart e.tc.
Please you are leaders here and we are trying to learn from you. I understood the fact that some people like to attack here, which I think has affected this thread seriously. Resulting to no transcript and asking of questions as usual..
We can all give different advice to same topic without attack on opponent. Let the owner of questions thank you all and choose the best decision. Do u know some of those people you advice here will still go to another forum to take advice?
I think @debbie @faintheart and @oyotunjiusa has done more work in the past even to some of my questions. But I see OyotunjiUSA doing much of the advice this time around on this forum.

And to some that I couldn't mention your id. Some sets kept this forum active till your turn, let's keep it rolling. We recognize you and your work. And we appreciate it.
I have topics on Nairaland years back and people still call me that they see my post in Google.
U can report privately to the moderator or ignore someones negative points.
I know we are trying to expose scammers, keep the thread active. But we can do it in a more civilized way..
In summary, i think you can be noticed by giving the right answers with links, ignoring distracted fellow and avoiding traits of online scammers.
You have all added value us by keeping the page active.
Kudos to you all.

Hello @OyoTunjiUSA

I recently was issued I-20 to a university in the USA for a phD program. This program is not fully funded but I have an international merit scholarship of $6000 out of $36500 written in the I-20.

My question is: what are the chances of getting a visa for a partially funded scholarship for a phd program in USA before I proceed with sevis fee payment and other payments?

Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you

Hello Everyone

I hope everyone is well.

Please I am new to this space. I am also new to all these visa process; this is my first attempt of applying to study in the United State. Kindly permit my questions.

Please I am looking for interview appointment date and I have got limited time. I just received my I-20 from the school last week Friday. School is resuming in august. But the dates I have been seeing since Monday is between NOV 2024 & JAN 2025.

Please how do I go about getting a closer date that will fit into my plans? which is getting an appointment date between June & July.

Also, I have been focusing on Lagos embassy, is it easier to get a closer date in Abuja embassy?

Please I need all the advice, assistance and guidance I can get from this community.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys.
