Beautiful indeed and you are not too small to become a country. But unfortunately you remain slave to the northern part of the country, all the money that comes from your state and many other rich states in nigeria are spending to develops northern and their politicians pocket the rest. 2 Likes |

DeadCountry: You don't know History and you don’t want to learn that’s your problem. Bonny people are not Igbo people; they are a mixture of Ijaw, Kwo, Bille, and tribes beyond the Igbo settlements and of course few FEMALE SLAVES OF IGBO EXTRACTION, I mean when slave trade was abolished what do you think happened to the slaves still in captivity waiting to be purchased and shipped that no one bought? Especially the females? They became concubines, wives etc. They integrated into the community it doesn’t mean the community became Igbo because of that 1 or 2 warehouse/barracoons/celler/dungeon of slaves NO!. those slaves became part of Bonny and the other Niger delta tribes/towns they were freed in. That’s why you find this types of communities in Rivers, Delta etc. Where they have some Igbo-ish names or some similar languages. Imagine 1/3 the moms in a village call chicken Oboko. In the market, to their children everywhere what do you think their children will call chicken? And after 2 generations, someone asks what do you call that? And they say Chicken or Oboko is that prove that the entire village comes from the same village that initial 1/3 of women in the village came from? you cannot say Bonny is Igbo simply because a few of them had mothers who were of Igbo extraction during the slave era, that’s like saying America is an African country solely because some slaves from Africa are now Americans or some of todays Americans trace their origins back to Africa so USA is African or belongs to Africans. That’s a very weak argument. We “most of the Niger delta tribes” with access to the ocean dealt with Europeans and Igbo slaves and slaves from beyond the Igbo villages we have people from my own village till today who are 1/16 portuguese, 1/8 British does that make us Europeans? Delta/Edo one of them had a king whose mother was full white European woman as far back as the 1700’s-1800’s and his children and grand children ruled as well. We speak English and have spoken English since after the arrival of the first British ships in 1861 and we spoke some Portuguese even before the arrival of the Brit’s as early as 1472 we traded with them wore their clothes adopted their names and some of their beliefs and customs does that make us Europeans? If it doesn’t Why should the fact that some of us a very small % in Rivers for example out of 26 LGA’s only 2 speak what nearly resembles Igbo or is somehow mutually intelligible to Igbo or even adopted Igbo names and language why should that make them automatically Igbo and in turn make all of us in Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Edo, Cross River, Akwa ibom all Igbo? The funny part is we trace our origins to Ijaw, Bini, Efik etc or a combination of 2 or more of these but yet you guys are the only once forcing us to be you. Is it not suspicious? Ijaw people have never one day claimed anything in Rivers or anywhere else even though we tell Ijaw every day we are Ijaw. Efik people the same , bini people the same, ogba people in Rivers have been begging the bini people going to their festivals every year yet you don’t see them insult and forcefully drag rivers state as their own personal property. Only Igbo people do this. Parts of Bayelsa and Ondo are Ijaw and Yoruba you don’t see them doing what Igbo people are doing. During the Biafra war we saw pepper 🌶️ in your hands, During the Old Eastern Region we saw Shege, you had your chance to show us we are one but you blew it. Igbo’s are simply looking for people to lord over people to insult and claim “we smart pass”. We are suspicious of you people. Leave us alone. No be by force. 1 Like
