This is wrong. I believe that they should allow them to roam in other states but it should be under supervision so that it won't disturb public peace. If this bill should go on, It will lead to more hatred because those that own business outside their own states won't feel safe anymore

No,the way out is that government should help pastoralist to stay in their state of origin and help them reclaim their lands from desert or by assisting the south or middle belt locals to start massive cattle rearing.

Exactly!

Though cattle can be raised in any Nigerian state provided they are in Ranches and do not disturb any other citizens...

If grasses don't grow in the North during the dry season... quite simple! Let government assist the cattle farmers by artificially wetting the grazing areas all year round and that's it...they have grasses all year round...all the Saudi Arabian desert areas are now turning orchards with artificial wetting...

Also as long as they continue with the local breed of cows as they do now...raising will still be cheap as the local cattle aren't susceptible to diseases and don't require much extra attention unlike the foreign 'Agric' ones...

It is well!

Disaster is ahead.

The main problem here is that the Fulani herdmen are taking advantage of climatic change and the bastardized world ecology. If these issues are not addressed, wahala. More people will die.

An observation done by ecology experts in ranches in the US, they found that cattles reluctantly eat grasses grown with fertilizer. They prefer naturally grown grasses and legumes. They noticed that farmers don't apply fertilizer and chemicals to boundaries of their farm, and those animals always run for any little grasses along the boundaries of farms. When they have pulled out those ones, they reluctantly start eating green grasses grown with fertilizers we thought are the best.

Then, they grew grasses without fertilizer and chemicals, and the animals love it. Vet doctors were far away from them. Their poo were nourishing and kept making the grasses grow organically. So, what is the lesson learned here?

If FG gets someone who understands how to grow grasses on barren land (our reserved are barren land now), cattle will pin herdmen in the reserved area. Na herdmen want to move them around when they love the grasses? when those animals show that they are not that interested in the grasses grown with fertilizer, those herdmen move them out. And what do you expect? They feast on natural grasses. But we don't have much natural grasses around. So, what next do you think farmers don't use fertilisers to grow? Cassava. Lol. This is why they invade cassava farms seriously. Also, many still don't use enough fertilizers on corn. So, they still invade that, too. But take note... they invade cassava farms more. Do they really love cassava leaves like that? Of course not. If you give them natural grasses, they will never enter cassava farms cos they naturally prefer grasses.

While this bill is the right way to go, FG needs to find experts who understand growing grasses naturally. And so far, I think over 99% consultants can not do it. Most use chemicals and ferilizers. They can only make hay and fodder for livestock. especially when fermented, those animals love it. But how much of that can they do?

Cattle rearing is all about being a grasses farmer. People think it is all about livestock. Nope. It is not about giving them antibiotics and Vaccines. It is about growing grasses for them. When you grow natural grasses for them, they don't need antibiotics and Vaccines. Diseases will be far away from them.

Here is my point. The real cattle farmer is not the one who takes care of the animals but the one who grows grasses for them. The one who grows their food is the real farmer. He can easily do away with the modern days stress involved in it. The modern days' stress and management are what we created for ourselves.

Sustainability, ecological, and environmental knowledge is the way forward.

Sambisa forests need to be made a natural grassland for cattle....believe me...herdmen will be locked there permanently. Their business of carrying gun is finished. Na dem wan move 250kg cow from his food? They wan die? Lol.

This case is very simple to address. But FG will not get it right. Lol. I am in my home watching the inefficiency of looters in Abuja. Lol. Governors, too, are clueless about this issue. I don't think I have seen any Nigerian agricultural minister who understands it. And moreover, their friend Dangote is the father of fertilizer in Nigeria. Lol. How will they get it right? They will NEVER.

God bless Naija! Amen.

Potential Impact on Beef Prices
Implementing large-scale ranching could significantly increase the cost of beef due to the high expenses associated with establishing and maintaining ranches. These would make Nigerian cows too expensive for purchase as cows from Niger and other neighboring countries practicing open grazing will be cheaper in the open market.

Suggested Practical Solutions
Designated Grazing Areas: Allocate specific areas for grazing to prevent clashes while allowing pastoralists to continue traditional herding methods.
Conflict Resolution Mechanisms: Establish local committees to mediate disputes between farmers and herders, promoting peaceful coexistence.
Cooperative Farming: Encourage farmers and herders to form cooperatives, sharing resources and knowledge to improve productivity and harmony.
Community-Based Animal Health Services: Provide mobile veterinary services to support herders, reducing the need for long migrations and potential conflicts.
These solutions aim to be cost-effective and fair to both cattle herders and farmers, ensuring sustainable practices and reducing conflicts.

The Southeast is allowed to ply their trade and open spare parts shop in katsina
The Southwest is holding Aso-rock Office in Abuja
The South-south is FCT Minister in Abuja
Why cant the northern Fulani man feed his cow in the south ?
Lets be tolerant and restructure cattle grazing to accommodate everybody.

Fulani herdsman spotted.

Are the Ibos and Yorubas plying their trade in the North killing people indiscriminately?

You guys think you are wise.

Kudos to the Benue man that sponsored the bill, his people has really suffered in the hand of Fulanis who has been supported by the FG all along
Rear you cow in your stinking Northern region and leave us to eat other forms of protein in the South.

And south east pay their tax for their shop that they rented, but your islaMic mohammedic brain won't let you talk about How you guys pay nothing, contribute nothing except violence and chaos to the economy.

This places you mentioned these people do not constitute any form of nuisance. They provide everything they need for their businesses. Don't mention Abuja. Abuja is a property of the federal republic. In the south hausas are doing their businesses without being encumbered save those into crime of iron theft and other vices. I like meat but the Fulanis should know that the country is past the era of moving cattle about. A ranch can be built in their state of origin and export of cattle for slaughter to the south rather should be the order of the day.

Ranching is not affordable by the average fulani herder.
Herding in Nigeria is getting deeper into the south as climate change is "desertifying" north more.
If humans cannot even feed due to inflationary government policies
Realistically, how do you expect the person that has eaten to afford to feed a cow in a ranch ?

Before I continue let me say .. northern nigeria is dragging us backwards.... A female friend of mine from Uganda, sent pictures of their rance, though its not that big ranch just medium and privately owned.. I asked myself, if these ppl can rearer cattle in just small space, why herdsmen can't do the same and save the stress of walking from north to south . Attachment is the cow they rear, just compare it with the one herdsmen rearer, this is private business, no government fund , they just do their business with their own money .. just check it out and tell me if these people are not just doing this intentionally

So the south east people you quote don't pay rent or own a shop? So they enter the market and destroy people goods like herdsmen are destroying farmlands? If Fulani herdsmen must ranch outside their states, then they should do so by buying or leasing a land and build a ranch.

What happens to goat meat, chicken etc?

Killing farmers to feed their own cows makes yhu happy, huh?
Let everybody take responsibility for their own private business.

All these nonsense excuses of Easterners having motoparts shops anywhere in the country is becoming stale.

Have yhu ever heard any landlord get killed for not giving out his shop to an Igbo for business?
