I know moving to an area helps with school selection but the child must still pass the 11+ exam right?

Absolutely........ If you put your child in a private primary school, they coach them as part of the fees you pay .......

But if you are from Ijebu like some of us, put your child in public primary school and get a teacher or do the coaching yourself........

@mamatukwas. You can check out Royal London. We have been using them for 4yrs with very minimal changes. Remember to explore the option of putting it in a trust, and also not cancelled by your employer's cover if being provided.

If this was my money and I had no short term plans to spend it....... What I would do is :-

1 - Either open a Monzo account and lock it a savings account, you would receive about Β£10 per month.......
2 - Put money with a fund manager like Blackrock, moneyfarm or nutmeg..... And receive about 20% appreciation per year (cash invested can go up or down)....... 😁🀣
I have a Monzo account. grin thanks for the tip

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but in your shoes, I will open a pounds mutual fund account in Nigeria with Stanbic IBTC asset management and dump the pounds there. The pounds will retain it's value as pounds and will grow with the mutual fund interest rate which is higher than normal bank rate. Revolut will not even give you interest.
They are not giving me interest at all.

Simply navigate to the investment part of Monzo, either put in savings or investments (with investments funds are used to buy ETF's). Depending on your risk appetite on type of investments........ I am set at maximum risk....... 😜🀣

I feel this is a good idea, only if you want to use funds in Nigeria....... If you hope to recall funds to Β£ later, your gains would be eroded + you might incur some losses......

But going down this your thought process, I would open a 1st bank savings account or Branch....... On ₦4 million, you would receive an interest of ₦25K per month guaranteed...... πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Sadly it won't go into building infrastructure but employing needless people into roles that can be easily absorbed. Increasing workforce efficiency and productivity should be the target.

Not forecasting income that you don't have or might not get. What happens if the majority pulls their kids from private back into state schools? And additional strain is put on the already poorly performing schools.

Maybe personal experience will better inform you than statistics you are quoting

What does this mean? This is a novel side to the argument and I want to know more

University education is a choice. You don’t need to be a university graduate to be successful in life, there are other routes like apprenticeship or learning a trade.

Private healthcare is a choice, you can use NHS like Keir and wait forever for your appointment and procedure.

Private nursery school is also a choice. Most people keep their kids at home until they reach school age.

None of these private services are any different from private school education but Labour has chosen to discriminate against one group of people to match their left wing ideology.
very well said..A perfectly logical submission

Surge of the right/far right in European elections, particularly France, Belgium and Germany...

Macron having to call a snap election...

Only a few years ago, Marine Le Pen was dismissed as a rabid, far right "nutter", today she is positioning herself as a credible government in waiting.

Will be interesting to see how the far right i.e. Reform, performs in the UK.

The Top global university list 2025 was published last week.

UK's Imperial College overtook Oxbridge for the first time to be named 2nd best in the world after MIT.

The US and the UK performed best in the international league table, with both countries each boasting 4 universities in the top 10.

There are 90 UK universities in this year’s league table, making it the second-most represented location, behind the US (197) and above China (71).

See how your Alma mater ranked in the top 100 or top 1500 cheesy :

Your question is quite vague. Could you clarify what extension this is for? Visa extension? Or Passport renewal? Let's start from there.

A word of advice for people seeking cheap vehicle insurance.......

Avoid using agents, it would always end up in tears........😭😭😭

You would lose your money + have a CIFAS marker on your credit report + if you're unlucky to get stopped by the police, you would appear before a magistrate........

You know what this means ,don't you? Far from interesting, the rise of the far right is a calamity for anyone who is not white, male,Christian or straight.

They have previous form for deadly persecution. I am usually very open to other ideas but I do not understand their supporters on this thread, to be frank.

I find it very interesting too.

Labour currently isn’t in its best phase generally and from an immigrant standpoint but go say one will vote for Reform in particular due to that is just funny.

Imagine going to vote for one of these Reform candidates:

Or this guy whose policy in an article he published is to deport all immigrants from 1997 and have their families shrieking and crying https://hopenothate.org.uk/2024/03/21/far-right-fantasies-of-reform-uk-candidate-beau-dade/

Or these dudes, one of which; surprise surprise, is of Nigerian origin : https://hopenothate.org.uk/2024/06/08/more-weird-and-worrying-reform-candidates/
