Good move. This is what I have been suggesting.

The law should also clearly forbid any political party from fielding a candidate from a geopolitical zone that has already produced president during the present democratic dispensation until it is the zone's turn to produce a president.

Nice one,but they should equally push for the merger of the house of reps and the senate and immediate reduction in the number of federal legislatures!

consequences will be dire!
Can I get that part correctly??

Do not ever compare America with Nigeria!

Both countries are Never to be compared in both social systems, economy, democracy…

In Nigerians we just preach Unity by the lips

Just take a trip to Gaza and experience what awaits Nigerians who do not understand the statement that “consequences will be dire”….then you can make your choice and advise your children accordingly! cool cool

First sensible move in that chamber......
Let's all get talking....
If we're not going our ways, then we could live together like this.......

Well, if they cannot live together harmoniously, then they will be forced to perish together in penury….just like the Israelites and Palestinians are doing right now. The choice is yours! cool cool
Then so be it.

I don't know why you people are so afraid to have a country without Biafrans.

We were doing well separately until forced together and called Nigeria.

They should be talking about peaceful division.

You can't be doing the same thing for more than 50 years and still be expecting different results.

Nigeria main problem is not who is the president.

Nigeria main problem is we don't share common value.

What makes a great Nation are the people that share common value system, The Way Igbo man thinks is not the way yoruba man think, the way yoruba man think is not the way Hausafulanis think..

We're better separately than together.

Peaceful division is not the answer, hope you saw what's happening in Sudan and South Sudan.
What they should push for is true federalism like what you have in America or regionalism like what you have in most part of Europe. Let every region develop at it own pace and abolition of bi camera national assembly to uni camera system.

Note: our strength is in our diversity and population if harnessed properly.

We rise by lifting others

Re: 35 Reps Push For Six-Year Tenure For President, Rotation Among Zones, Others by javascript1901: 2:54pm On Jun 10
Validated:

Forget the nuisance called Regional government.
Do you think Ijaws, Urhobos, Itsekiris, etc will accept to be in Eastern Region? Do you think Lagos would want to depreciate its value for a Western Region?
Do you think that the whole of North would accept a single Northern Region? The only way to achieve the pipe dream is to go to war and let the big ethnic group subdue the small ones.

Urhobos, Itsekiris , were never part of Eastern region,
they were in Western region then later Mid West region was created

we had four regions before.

so more regions will be created, with related tribes together.

Regional Government, then 6 years single term for president to be rotated among geopolitical zones.

Makes sense.
4 years is ok per region!

rotation will make it a birthright thing, it will be an opportunity to empty the treasury at slightest chance of an aggrieved region turn to rule.

Why do one Nigerians promoter always mention Sudan and south Sudan when issues of going separate ways is mentioned?

Are they the only countries that go their separate ways.

Moreover is your Nigeria better than those countries you mentioned.
Re: 35 Reps Push For Six-Year Tenure For President, Rotation Among Zones, Others by Freebills12: 2:59pm On Jun 10
A single term of 6 years is okay. The legislature will be inclusive in this clause, not only the executive.
The order of rotation will start with northeast- southeast-northcentral-southsouth-northwest-southwest.

Is South South part of your so-called Biafra?
Have you conducted a Referendum to ascertain which States wish to be part of your Biafra?
What makes you think all your neighbours (with established Oil & Mineral resources) wish to be part of your Biafra?
Are they sooo dumb that they cannot manage their own resources without being part of your Biafra?
Are the Igbos willing to break away from Nigeria without the other South South States that do not wish to be part of your Biafra?
These are questions you should address. I do not believe that majority of people are “afraid” to have a Nigeria without Igboland! cool cool

This why ipob have been calling for referendum.

Millions of dollars your Nigeria government have spent in fighting Ipob would have conducted referendum and everything settled.

People will make their choices because no one is supposed to forced to be one country.

The only thing worth considering is the 6 year single tenure for Presidents.

Where we already have 7 States within a zone, the other zones should have the balance to make 7 States.
Each State should be fully autonomous. The sharing formula should be looked into and each State should be given their due based on their resources.

There should be only one house, probably the House of Representatives and it should be part time and their wages and allowances should be commiserate with the work they do. A Commission should be set up and given the responsibility of Constituency projects funds and ensuring such funds are put into realistic projects that is value added and adds real value to the people and economy.

Full autonomy for all LGA(C), creation of more LGA and setting up of RDAs for effective development meeting the needs of each local community.
The judiciary should be rejigged from bottom to top. The Magistrate Court should be built and situated central to 4 to 7 tribal clans depending on each locality.

By now you people should be making bills to make Nigeria election complete electronic like seen in India or South africa, and stop INEC and its staffs from deceiding who wins an election, if you guys are serious with the process of getting credible leaders in next election.

They know Nigeria is long way overdue for electronic voting. Unfortunately, they wouldn't pass this bill because it would totally frustrate their chances of rigging elections.

I strongly believe Nigerians can vote from their phones just the same way we have USSD and internet banking.
