007inc: Ok Thanks. please people on this forum with experience if you get this reply what does it mean? 'Unfortunately, there are no appointments available at this time. New appointments will be made available for booking at regular intervals' |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Ayo1011: 7:30pm On Jun 09 |
dyydxx: It means there's no more appointment spots left for now. That said, you can try to book again anytime from 11pm our time, I'm told they usually add new spots at midnight, as available(they're one hour ahead) I seriously hope you're category A. |

Hannania: Thanks brother. I saw the following from the checklist. So if someone can satisfy this condition below: Secondary employment : If you already have a specific secondary employment in Germany in mind, you can prove this with an employment contract or a binding job offer, which shows the weekly working hours and monthly earnings. There's no need to show the block account statement right? |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 7:56am On Jun 10 |
lastkingsman:Yup. Remember that you're only allowed to work 20hr/w on the opportunity card visa until you can switch to a job that's Blue card sufficient and in your field. |

Hannania: I don't think that part is achievable to Nigerians even though it's mentioned. it's more for those that already have visa free access to Germany, like the Americans or Canadians/Australians that can get into Germany then find part time work. I mean how easy is it to get part time work in Germany from Nigeria? and if that is possible why not just get the blue card kind of work? Isnt the purpose of the chancekarte to lead to either a blue card for skilled work or ausbildung residence permit. Chancekarte is only for a year, you must change to another permit or you need to leave after a year. |

dyydxx:You can renew the opportunity card for 3 years if you have a job. The reason such jobs can't work for blue card is because they don't fall under the salary threshold. It's very much possible 1 Like |

Has anyone been able to register for Chancenkarte appointment? Someone said it is possible to do that in person at the German Consulate Lagos but I doubt that because no such option is available when booking an appointment. I am asking because I may be wrong, has anyone done that? Secondly for the jobseekers visa, would secondary employment allow the individual work pending when the person gets a permanent job? Finally, has anyone who booked an appointment around November 2022 for Category B been called for interview? Anyone with insights should kindly clarify. Thank you! Hannania: |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by dyydxx: 6:35pm On Jun 10 |
Hannania: You mean part time job cos if you have a full time job why on earth should you keep renewing opportunity card why not just get the residence permit for skilled workers(normal work permit). Opportunity card is just a fancy Job seekers visa. Look at it this way. A part time job is something like getting a job at McDonald's or Amazon Warehouse or Aldi. The odds of getting that job contract from Nigeria to accompany your chancekarte application to show as proof of funds will be tough, just looking at it as a practical matter. Which means from Nigeria the best option is either the blocked funds €12k or the Sponsorship by German citizen.(if you have this) 1 Like |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 7:06pm On Jun 10 |
dyydxx:That's the worst case scenario. Some people will not get jobs that will pay the EU Blue card threshold (unlikely since it's reduced now). So they have an option to renew the program with a part-time job. For the jobs, you forget part-time contracts are not limited to Leger(menial jobs). I for example had a temporal technical writing role with a company based in Berlin until march this year. On the opportunity card official page, a job board has been created that will eventually be filled with such jobs. These are jobs Germans don't do but immigrants pick up. It's similar to how UK recruit care givers from abroad, just that Germany has a more robust economy than the UK fueled by manufacturing that makes it easy to get such jobs since this scheme is open now. A sure way to get such jobs is to have at least A2 German. B1 is better 1 Like |

Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by dyydxx: 1:39am On Jun 11 |
Hannania: Ok so basically remote/online part time jobs. Let's look at its practicality for someone in Nigeria today that doesn't have 12k or someone that can do 'Verpflichtungserklärung' for them. So wait until that part time job board launches, get a part time job from there, not too add you must also have at least a2 german, then keep the job until you get an appointment at the embassy, still have the job so it can be used as proof of funds......it's a tough path, not impossible but its tough. Your 2nd point, renewing the visa again after a year means something isn't quite working right(otherwise you would have found a full time job. 1 year is surely sufficient time to get a full time job). If you can't find a full time in a year then you are probably better off renewing to do an ausbildung or even doing it if you can't find a full time job in six months. At least you are sure of FT job after ausbildung |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 3:47am On Jun 11 |
dyydxx:That's why I said worst case scenario. My advise for anyone considering this path is to start learning German to B1 level before the program is available. That will make it extremely easy. If you're into Tech, it will not matter much. The language will only give you a larger pool of options, which is the leverage everyone should seek. For those in regulated professions like Civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, unless you join MNCs, you can't escape the B2 to C1 German to get licenced |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by dyydxx: 4:38am On Jun 11 |
Hannania: Lets move here. So i was able to book under 'others'. it was exactly as Ayo said it work by 11pm I was able to book and got the email confirmation. why are you confident a special category appointment would be created for the chancekarte?

Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 7:30am On Jun 11 |
dyydxx:It's a new scheme. All long time visas are presently more than a year if you're booking from Nigeria. Study, family reunion, and previously the work visa(it's been scraped for the eventual opportunity card). Let's just hope they make progressive changes, if not, it's also going to take time because of the high number waiting for this.. it will be easy if they ask for proof of BA or SL and certificate validity before registering. This will draw very few applications The German consulate Is very explicit with applications. When it begins, we'll surely see the link |

I run the permit for people but the Liberian own. It can be backdated but its costlier that way. They have no German Embassy so they go to Ghana too for appointments. dyydxx: |

I have being trying to book appointments in United Arab Emirates for German student visa for over 2 months now. I succeeded today with appointments date August 2024. New appointments comes into the system 12 am German time. So you have to calculate it according to ur time. In Nigeria its 11pm, UAE its 2am, Texas its 5pm.. I have to involve 2 more hands to join me in the booking because its fastest finger. If you login 15 seconds after the time, you will not see appointments. What we did was to install magical auto fill. After 4 weeks trial we succeeded with booking. |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Gerald45411: 1:25pm On Jun 11 |

The embassy told you Nigeria isn't listed. REALLY, so why do they have the checklist on there website? We know Nigeria isn't listed to apply for it online but they should come up with there own process |
