The immediate past Vice Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Francis Inegbineki has said a defection “Tsunami” awaits the party as more members are ready to dump it.


DAILY POST reports that the former APC chieftain made the remarks at a press conference in Benin City while debunking the rumours making the rounds that he had rescinded his decision to resign from the party.

Francis Inegbineki, who was the party’s senatorial candidate in the 2015 general election, Friday, resigned from the party.

At the press conference, he disclosed that more members of the party would soon dump the party.

According to him, I didn’t rescind my decision, and I stand by my resignation. A tsunami will soon happen in APC. I am only leading the way.

“I stand by my resignation from the APC, and I cease to be a member.

“I saw my photograph with the APC governorship candidate on social media, suggesting that I have rescinded my decision to quit APC.

“Yes, it is true that Senator Monday Okpebholo visited me after I turned in my resignation letter because they know that an Iroko has fallen”, he said.

DAILY POST reported that his resignation from the party is coming barely three months to the September 21, governorship election in Edo State.

In his resignation letter dated June 7, 2024, and addressed to the ward 9 chairman of APC in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Inegbinek hinged his decision on the recent developments in the local government and the State chapters of the party.
He opined that the developments conflicted with his core principles and values, which prompted him to do a serious evaluation of his political future in Edo State and decide on the way forward.

This is a huge blow to APC, though Esan land traditionally is a PDP enclave, this man has done a lot of hard work for APC in Edo state overall.

APC Ẹdo state have a huge problem, I am not convinced Denco and his hordes of supporters in Edo South are fully behind Monday's candidacy. That house is very very divided.

I feel a lot of influential people in APC Ẹdo want to deliberately lose these elections just to show Akpakomezer as useless as a gubernatorial candidate (which isn't exactly a false assertion) and then fight Asue tooth and nail next time round.

Akpakomezer (and Denco too) should have concentrated on their first terms in Abuja instead of putting their hat in the ring for gorvernor. All their acrion has caused in ranciur, betrayal and infighting in Edo state.

Which hard work Inegbeneki put? Hard work that can't win his polling unit? Go and find out his performances in his ward and unit in various elections.
