hopexter:True that. I was about to write that here when I saw your post. Back then from the 1960s right through to the 1980s, a significant number of young students were adventurous and dying to school in Unis far away from their home states. Pastor Enoch Adeboye was a student of Mathematics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka when the unfortunate Nigerian Civil War of 1967 was about to start and so he and other non-Eastern students and citizens of other ethnicities were told to leave the East by the secessionist or rebel leadership. After the war in the 1970s, folks of other ethnicities returned to UNN because it's a Federal institution with top level teaching. So, most Unis had students from all parts of Nigeria just like all the elite Federal Government Colleges spread around Nigeria. Even foreign students were part of the Nigerian Uni population from Ghana, India, Bangladesh, Jamaica, a few White folks from America or the UK that I know of as well who were children of expatriates living and working in Nigeria or taught as academics in the Unis back in the oil boom era of the 1970s right to the early 1980s. 6 Likes 1 Share |
