The installer told me that they will not be able to efficiently charge my batteries, that I need at least four

Total battery storage of your system is 24vdc x 220ah = 5280whrs

Total wattage coming from your panels assuming 4hrs sunshine is 5720whrs

NB: You don't even need all the 5280whrs to fully charge your batteries because you cannot drain your batteries to zero.

Thanks

Shouldn't this advice be given with a caveat? If the battery has load always on it, then the solar charging is reduced. The higher and longer the load stays on the battery the lesser the charging it gets.

You could make money from your dead or swollen batteries.

200ah - 47, 000

150ah - 37, 000

100ah - 15, 000

This is for recycling purposes and the prices will be reviewed from time to time.

Many thanks

Encouraged by this thread https://www.nairaland.com/6310897/just-opened-own-bakery
and with the support of the poster @ SoloChris, I was able to setup my bakery FEFLO BREAD. NAFDAC has visited the facility for inspection and I hope to get the approval soon. Needless to say that the bakery is fully off grid powered by 5kva 48vdc inverter with 4kwp and 10kwh lithium cells

Due to rising demand and the need for expansion, I just bought a brand new 25kg spiral mixer to support the fairly used that has been serving for about six months now

Can a completely dead deep cycle battery be recharged?

In the world of renewable energy and off-grid living, deep cycle batteries play a crucial role in storing electricity for later use. However, these batteries can sometimes become completely discharged, leaving many wondering if they can be revived. So, can a completely dead deep cycle battery be recharged? Let’s delve into this topic and find out.

Firstly, it’s important to understand what a deep cycle battery is. Unlike regular car batteries, deep cycle batteries are designed to provide a steady amount of power over an extended period. They are commonly used in applications such as solar power systems, electric vehicles, and marine equipment. These batteries are built to withstand deep discharges and subsequent recharges, making them ideal for long-term energy storage.

When a deep cycle battery is completely dead, it means that it has been discharged to a point where it can no longer deliver any power. This can happen due to prolonged storage without maintenance, excessive use without recharging, or a faulty charging system. In such cases, the battery voltage drops below a critical level, rendering it seemingly lifeless.

However, the good news is that a completely dead deep cycle battery can often be recharged. The process of reviving a dead battery is known as “reconditioning.” Reconditioning involves applying a controlled electrical charge to the battery, which helps to reverse the chemical reactions that occur during discharge. This process can take several hours or even days, depending on the battery’s size and condition.

FAQ:

Q: Can I use a regular car battery charger to recharge a deep cycle battery?
A: While it is possible to use a regular car battery charger, it is recommended to use a charger specifically designed for deep cycle batteries. These chargers provide a more controlled and gradual charging process, which is better suited for deep cycle batteries.

Q: Can I recondition a deep cycle battery multiple times?
A: Yes, deep cycle batteries can be reconditioned multiple times, depending on their overall condition. However, it’s important to note that frequent deep discharges and recharges can reduce the battery’s overall lifespan.

Q: What can I do to prevent my deep cycle battery from dying completely?
A: To prevent a deep cycle battery from dying completely, it is essential to follow proper maintenance practices. This includes regularly checking the battery’s charge level, avoiding deep discharges whenever possible, and ensuring a proper charging regimen.

In conclusion, a completely dead deep cycle battery can often be recharged through a process called reconditioning. By applying a controlled electrical charge, it is possible to revive the battery and restore its functionality. However, it is important to note that prevention is always better than cure when it comes to battery health. Regular maintenance and proper charging practices can help prolong the lifespan of deep cycle batteries and prevent them from reaching a completely discharged state

Is LiFePO4 Safer than AGM?

In the world of battery technology, two popular options for energy storage are LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but one question that often arises is which one is safer. Let’s take a closer look at these battery types and explore their safety features.

LiFePO4 Batteries:
LiFePO4 batteries are a type of rechargeable lithium-ion battery that uses lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material. They are known for their high energy density, long lifespan, and excellent performance in extreme temperatures. One of the key safety features of LiFePO4 batteries is their inherent stability. Unlike other lithium-ion batteries, LiFePO4 batteries are much less prone to thermal runaway, a phenomenon that can lead to overheating and even explosions. This is due to the stable chemical structure of the lithium iron phosphate compound.

AGM Batteries:
AGM batteries, on the other hand, are a type of lead-acid battery that uses a glass mat separator to hold the electrolyte in place. They are commonly used in applications such as marine, RV, and backup power systems. While AGM batteries are generally considered safe, they do have some limitations. AGM batteries can release hydrogen gas during charging, which can be potentially hazardous if not properly ventilated. Additionally, AGM batteries are more sensitive to overcharging and can be damaged if not charged correctly.

Which Battery is Safer?

When it comes to safety, LiFePO4 batteries have a clear advantage over AGM batteries. The stable chemistry of LiFePO4 batteries significantly reduces the risk of thermal runaway and eliminates the need for special ventilation systems. This makes them a safer option, especially in applications where safety is a top priority, such as electric vehicles and renewable energy systems.

FAQ:

Q: Are LiFePO4 batteries completely safe?
While LiFePO4 batteries are generally considered safe, it is important to handle them with care and follow proper charging and discharging procedures to minimize any potential risks.

Q: Can AGM batteries explode?
AGM batteries can release hydrogen gas during charging, which can be potentially hazardous if not properly ventilated. However, the risk of explosion is relatively low if the batteries are used and maintained correctly.

Q: Which battery type has a longer lifespan?

LiFePO4 batteries typically have a longer lifespan compared to AGM batteries. LiFePO4 batteries can last up to 10 years or more, while AGM batteries usually have a lifespan of around 3-5 years.

In conclusion, when it comes to safety, LiFePO4 batteries have a clear advantage over AGM batteries. Their stable chemistry and reduced risk of thermal runaway make them a safer option for various applications. However, it is important to handle any type of battery with care and follow proper guidelines to ensure optimal performance and safety.

I assume you are talking about external chargers for lithium ion batteries, get an adjustable charger and know the number of cells that makes up the battery The nominal voltage per cell is 3.7v while full charge voltage per cell is 4 2v. Set your charger between these thresholds
For example, if I have a 48v lithium ion battery having 14 cells. I will set my charger to charge till 58v.
Thanks

Please I have 24v system with 4 555w panels, they each have an imp of 49.1v and current of 13.2A, they are connected in 2 series. The inverter is asking for maximum charging current in Ahms, or how do i calculate it?

To calculate the maximum charging amps of a particular battery bank depends on the battery chemistry and the C-rating . 1C for Lifepo4 and c10 or c20 for lead acid batteries.
In your case, assuming your battery is lithium, you can set to the maximum you can get from your panels which is 60amps if your battery is above 60amps, or to your total battery amp if it's lower than 60amps.
For lead acid batteries, divide the c rating by the total amphour of your battery and you get the max. charging amps. I hope it's clear.

Thanks
